Since her injury, she would walk for a while before getting a taxi home so she could help her ankle heal.
Alex stopped by a bakery and bought herself a cake. It was her birthday but no one had remembered not even her mother.
Her father and sister had left for a business trip and her stepmother had taken her mother off on a trip the previous day just so she could cook for her since she hated eating hotel food.
"Mom must be so busy that she hasn't called me," she said to herself as she walked out of the store.
She moved a few steps and stopped, it had started to drizzle.
"How is it raining right now, I didn't even bring an umbrella" she sighed.
.....
"Why are you sulking, it was your fault for leaving without her number the last time you met her," Becca said.
"I thought I was going I return, but then this all happened. What does she think of me now" he sighed gazing outside the window.
"Do you think she's home right now, 'cause it's raining. I hope it didn't find her on the way".
Nathan looked at the people running on the streets as the rain poured down.
"She doesn't even have a car" he breathed.
"Well then I hope she grabbed a taxi," Becca said.
"STOP, stop the car" Nathan suddenly shouted.
The driver moved to the side and parked. And his boss jumped out of the car.
"Nathan we are you going in this rain" Becca yelled after him. But he didn't mind and went off.
Becca and the driver watched as he ran out to the streets.
....
Alex had been running in the rain trying to find shelter but failed. And luck with the taxi was even worse so she decided to run home.
"Alex" someone touched her shoulder. She turned to see a man standing in the rain behind her. His long brown hair and suit were all drenched but his face held a smile.
"Mr Livingston," she said.
"Can I give you a ride?" he asked noticing her look around added, "please let me, it's pouring and I don't think you will find a taxi in this weather"
She followed him to his car and got in.
"Miss White are you okay," Becca asked the moment they got inside the car.
"Am okay just a little wet, am sorry about your car" she turned to Nathan.
"My car?"
"It's all wet cause of me".
"Don't mind that, I don't think he even cares about the car more than you" Becca chuckled.
Nathan pulled off his coat, "Forget the car, why are you moving in the rain"
"I wanted to take a walk but it suddenly started raining," she said.
