Chapter 29: Smith and Ling

Rachel and Jason were walking and talking. Suddenly, they heard a wolf howl came from the distance!

　　"It's Luca's wolf howl! He and George are in danger, let's go over there!" Hearing the wolf howl, Jason immediately said to Rachel.

　　The two followed the direction of the sound and searched for Luca and George.

　　"Luca, where are you, what's happened to you, answer me, George where are you?" Jason shouted as running.

　　"Jason, we're here, there's no danger. We met Smith and Ling!" George heard Jason's voice and answered loudly.

　　Rachel and Jason saw that George and Luca were in an abandoned gas station grocery. Then they rushed to the gas station grocery.

　　They entered the grocery and saw that Ling was lying on the ground. Smith was also there, But to be surprised, Smith could stand up, he did not need his wheelchair anymore.

　　"Smith, you don't need a wheelchair anymore? You can actually stand up? What's going on, why are you with Ling?" Jason asked.

　　"I know you guys have a lot of questions want to ask me, but we need to wake Ling up first!"

　　Ling had been unconscious on the ground, George carried Ling. They went back to the hospital to find Charlie and the others.

　　Seeing Smith and Ling, Charlie was also very excited and asked

　　"Jason, what happened to you, how do you encountered Ling and Smith?"

　　Smith did not answer Charlie, looking at the hospital that had turned into ruins, sitting on the ground

　　"It's over, the hospital is destroyed, there's no way we can save Ling. It's my fault, it's my fault."

　　Jason went up, grabbed Smith's hand, asked

　　"Tell us what's going on! Why you were with Ling, why Ling fell into a coma, and why you can stand up now!"

　　"Let me go and I'll tell you guys everything. You let me go first!"

　　Jason let Smith go.

　　Smith took a deep breath and told everyone what had happened.

　　"I was taken by Bloodaxe's to their camp. They asked me to help them make props and they gave me soul crystals. I used these soul crystals to upgrade and then added all the attributes to my physique.

　　When my physique exceeded 20, I found that I could actually stand up! But I didn't tell anyone else about it. I continued to sit in my wheelchair.

　　One day, the leader of the Bloodaxe, Carl, suddenly found me, he took me to a church, and let me study a Magic Circle inside the church with him!"

　　Hearing the Magic Circle, Rachel interrupted Smith

　　"They also has a Magic Circle? How did they find it, and what is that Magic Circle effect?"

　　"I do not know how they found that Magic Circle, but the effect is very evil." Smith answered.

　　Everyone looked at Kane, and Kane hurriedly said

　　"I don't know either, I do not know we have Magic Circle in the Bloodaxe! I swear, I didn't lie to you guys!"

　　"I believe he did not lie to us, Carl should be the only one who knows about this Magic Circle." Smith then said

　　"This Magic Circle is incomplete, missing a part. Carl just wanted me to help him fix this Magic Circle."

　　"You just said this is an evil Magic Circle, why ah?" Rachel asked again.

　　"I found out that once this Magic Circle is completed, it will cover the entire Belleville, and all the creatures inside the Magic Circle, will turn into soul crystals!"

　　The others were very surprised to hear that! They didn't expect Carl to do such a thing.

"We tried a lot of methods, but there is no way to repair the Magic Circle. Then Carl had a new idea.

He wanted to forced activate the Magic Circle with a large amount of blood. I thought he must be crazy, so I quietly escaped from the church while it was still dawn."

　　"While it was still dawn? Why?" Jason asked.

　　"I... I had some suspicions that Carl is a vampire, or at least related to vampire." Smith hesitated, then said

　　"I've never seen him went outside during the day, including the day he took me to the church, all at night. And he was especially excited when we talk about blood!"

　　Everyone looked at Kane and Kane looked at Smith. Smith's words surprised everyone!

　　"No, no, no, I don't believe you. You said Carl is a vampire just based on what you see. Although he always asks me and Bran to responsible for daytime activity, he takes care of the nighttime. But only base on this, say that he is a vampire..." Kane hesitated as he spoke.

　　"Why are you stop, Kane?" Luca asked.

　　"I suddenly thought something. Every night, Carl leads some people go out to collect resources. After they come back , there is always a few people lost. When we asked Carl, he said that they were attacked by monsters and dead.

　　We didn't care, because it happens all the time and it was night. But after hearing what Smith just said, I was thinking, if Carl is really a vampire, then the people who go out with him every night are his food! ."

　　Luca said at this point

　　"Well, I'm a werewolf, and it's possible that Carl is a vampire. And then what happened Smith? Carl didn't come and catch you back?"

　　Smith then said

　　"Then I escaped. The reason Carl didn't come to get me back, I think it was because he was reliving a monster. It was a giant rat covered in plague. Ling was unconscious because she breathed the poisonous gas from that rat."

　　Hearing Smith say giant rat, Jason immediately thought of, in the invisible hat story, the evil wizard summoned out a giant rat. After it died, the giant rat body was buried under the ground.

　　"So, we were all tricked by Carl?" Kane couldn't believe Smith's words.

　　"Believe it or not, once we let Carl finish the Magic Circle, people in whole town will die, including Bloodaxe!"

　　Smith added

　　"I escaped from the church, and I never thought I would meet Ling. I told Ling my experiences, and she told me to take her to Carl. She will take Carl out secretly." Smith sighed.

　　"I really regret, I should not listen to her, I should not take her to the church. I thought that with Ling's power, it should be easy to sneak up on Carl. I took her to the nearby church and waited for an opportunity to sneak in.

　　But before we could get inside, we were found by the giant rat. Carl ordered the giant rat to attack us. Ling flashed behind the giant rat and tried to kill it, but she accidentally breathed the poisonous gas.

　　Ling use her last strength to take me out of the church, and then she passed out and never woke up until now.

　　I'm so useless, only know make some props and identify things, I can't help her at all." Smith was about crying.

　　Rachel comforted Smith

　　"At least you brought Ling back to us! Oh, wait, did you just said you can identify items? Is that true?"

　　Rachel took out the unidentified ring from her bracelet and handed it to Smith

　　"I know this isn't a good time, but Smith can you help me identify this ring?"

　　Smith took the ring and used the skill "Primary Identify", a skill Smith had obtained by trading soul crystals with the Bloodaxe member.

　　"Great, we have chance to save Ling, Ling is saved!" Smith finished identify the ring and suddenly jumped up from the ground, excited!

　　Other people looked at Smith, Rachel asked him

　　"What kind of ring is this, why you said we have chance to save Ling?"

　　"Sorry, I'm too excited."

　　Smith hurriedly told everyone the properties of the ring.

　　Holy Light Ring

　　Quality: White

　　Skill: Use "Primary Holy Light " 1 time per day, the effect is related to the user's intellect. Holy Light can dispel negative status.

"I planed to find a method to save Ling in the hospital, but I didn't expect the hospital have already turned into ruins. I was going to give up, but you guys find this ring.

Then we can use the Holy Light to dispel the poison in Ling's body!" Smith said.

　　"Since the effect of the 'Primary Holy Light' is related to intellect, let's give the ring to Rachel and let Rachel use the 'Primary Holy Light' to wake up Ling." Jason suggested.

　　"But I took too many things, the compass, the bracelet, the 'Skill Upgrade Stone(Intermediate)', all of them are mine."

　　"Now The most important thing is to wake up Ling." Everyone agreed to give the Ring to Rachel.

　　Rachel put on the Holy Light Ring and used the "Primary Holy Light " on Ling, but Ling still didn't wake up.

　　"Why Ling is still in a coma, didn't you say this ring could save her?" George asked Smith.

　　"I don't know. Theoretically, Ling should have woken up!" Smith replied.

　　"Look guys, Ling's face has become red, no longer as pale as before. The Holy Light is still working, let's try it again tomorrow." Jason said.

　　As evening came, they returned to the gas station grocery where they met Smith and Ling. After a day of fighting, everyone was very tired. After eating something and arranging for guarding night, everyone went to rest.

　　The night passed quickly, and early the next morning, Rachel used the "Primary Holy Light " on Ling again. This time, Ling woke up from the coma.
