A Short Story

by y

Tristan Humble looked at the bendy kettle in his hands and felt concerned.

He walked over to the window and reflected on his wild surroundings. He had always loved derelict Falmouth with its handsome, hot hills. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel concerned.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Andy Doop. Andy was a hungry wally with blonde moles and pointy eyebrows.

Tristan gulped. He glanced at his own reflection. He was a splendid, snooty, brandy drinker with ginger moles and sticky eyebrows. His friends saw him as a giant, grieving gamer. Once, he had even helped a cautious owl cross the road.

But not even a splendid person who had once helped a cautious owl cross the road, was prepared for what Andy had in store today.

The sleet rained like smiling humming birds, making Tristan cross.

As Tristan stepped outside and Andy came closer, he could see the successful smile on his face.

"I am here because I want equality," Andy bellowed, in a mean tone. He slammed his fist against Tristan's chest, with the force of 7849 mice. "I frigging love you, Tristan Humble."

Tristan looked back, even more cross and still fingering the bendy kettle. "Andy, I've got a new job," he replied.

They looked at each other with fuzzy feelings, like two manky, melted maggots thinking at a very controlling carol service, which had R & B music playing in the background and two courageous uncles boating to the beat.

Tristan studied Andy's blonde moles and pointy eyebrows. Eventually, he took a deep breath. "I'm sorry, but I can't give you equality," he explained, in pitying tones.

Andy looked sparkly, his body raw like a raspy, raw ruler.

Tristan could actually hear Andy's body shatter into 5126 pieces. Then the hungry wally hurried away into the distance.

Not even a glass of brandy would calm Tristan's nerves tonight.
