Recessiveness

Ren Jidian immediately recalled something similar.

"Haha, I am not attracted to you, Mr. Ren! I just want my family to immediately hand over the inheritance to me and the position at the company."

Huai Zhenji also told him he does not lust over him. That was why he agreed to get married in the first place.

Compared to other Alphas, a disinterested one would be safer. Not to mention that they match highly, about 89%, and everyone else that Ren Jidian had matched with was shady.

They easily expressed their desire to mark immediately, and would not agree to his condition of not marking until marriage. Only Huai Zhenji did.

But all Alphas were not to be trusted. Because eventually....

He found out that Huai Zhenji's room was full of pictures of him, most taken in secret while he was going to school, at the skating rink, or even at the convenience store.

There was even a picture of him changing inside his house, and he always closed the windows and his curtains.

So this meant that it was taken from the inside.

Ren Jidian could only take a pair of scissors and cut all the pictures down, laughing bitterly.

"Hah, not attracted my ass!"

And at the present, he also had the same reaction. He pushed the blade deeper into Song Xiu's neck.

"If you think that I would ever waste a second to believe you, then you are gravely mistaken." He gritted his teeth. "Get out."

Song Xiu chuckled. "Ah, she had way too much of that pipe of hers. But she's still very much awake. I just managed to go inside unnoticed despite her presence."

Ren Jidian was a little conflicted. He really wanted to get rid of this sleazy motherfucker already and slit his throat.

But this also proved that he was really capable as an assassin. And they needed that. He had heard stories of how the Emperor can easily kill 5 men going after him all at once.

"If you don't want me to ask Gou Zhongcheng to cut you in half right now, go out and never step foot on this manor again." Ren Jidian wore his most intimidating face.

Song Xiu just proudly responded with. "That is if I do not slice her into quarters first with just one strike."

But seeing that scary look, he shrugged. "However, I will take my leave since you insist. I only worry after all, you really seem completely unaware of your own cycle and not showing signs of it."

"I find that even more dangerous than if you feel it strongly like the Empress, don't you think? May become a big problem someday."

Ren Jidian just scoffed. "Even so, it's my problem, not yours. Stop meddling or I'll lose my patience and this 'allyship' is over."

Song Xiu relented. "Alright, alright. May you sleep peacefully with the sweetest of dreams tucked in your beloved's arms. Hahaha!"

And like the wind, he just disappeared, that infuriating laughter getting more and more distant.

Ren Jidian went back to bed, and the Empress was still asleep despite all the commotion. Just like Wei Sizhi in his own world.

He slept way too peacefully. They were opposites, and it sometimes made Ren Jidian worry for him.

He kissed his forehead, and wrapped his arms around him protectively.

Maybe he should ask Gou Zhongcheng to guard the inside of the manor from now on.

The next morning, he woke up with both himself and Empress Wei unharmed.

Somehow, just waking up safe made him feel grateful. It was understandable with how tense and anxiety-inducing every waking hour spent on this Palace.

He hugged him even tighter, and kissed his forehead, his cheeks, and then his lips. He sometimes wished they can just lay in bed and sleep in each other's arms forever.

He was still weary, as he did not get enough sleep thanks to a certain Yang.

Wei Wangyi eventually opened his eyes, and smiled like an angel at him. "Scholar Ren.... Have you been smothering me with kisses again?"

Ren Jidian chuckled. "Am I not allowed to, Your Majesty?"

"You are... But it's not fair if I do not get some too, you know....."

He chuckled, and kissed his nose. "You're free to do with me whatever you like, Your Majesty. You are my one and only Empress after all."

Wei Wangyi also laughed, his voice much like small bells that brings calmness to the listener. He planted soft and delicate pecks on Ren Jidian's face, cheeks, lips, and finally, his nose.

Actually, he bit on the nose mischievously.

Ren Jidan felt like he could just die of this man's cuteness, or he would squish him to death instead. "Empress.... There's something you must know."

Empress Wei yawned, "What is it, Ah-Guang?"

He told him about his encounter with Song Xiu last night. This caused Empress Wei's bright and sweet smile to turn into a flat line.

"I do not trust him either. Why else would he go here in the dead of the night instead of just warning you the next day, or even knocking at the door and informing both of us?"

"Exactly....." Ren Jidian sighed. "But should I still test it with the Emperor? I have always wondered too, why I am not like the rest..."

Actually, he had his suspicions that he was a recessive Omega.

Recessive Omegas have weaker pheromones and fewer symptoms when it comes to heat. They were very rare, only about 2% of the Omega population, and had lower fertility rate.

Most people were dominant, like Wei Sizhi/Wangyi. And he was even in the higher dominance spectrum with how strong his pheromones were and how much he was affected by the symptoms.

Empress Wei nodded. "If it works, that also meant that Song Xiu was not like other Yangs too. He was also a deviated one."

(A recessive Alpha.) Ren Jidian thought.

Huai Zhenji also claimed to be a recessive Alpha.

But that does not change anything, he learned that the hard way.

In the end, an Alpha is an Alpha, and an Omega is an Omega. Just because both were 'unique' flavors of one, that does not mean they can suddenly become comrades over the same uniqueness.
