Becoming The Shadows | Chapter 29

A few minutes later, Dante runs after her and sees Jade on the road. He looks at him and says. "Hey, guy get away from my girl!" Dante doesn't realize who it is. Renesmae stands in front of Jade "Don't you even think about it Dante" Jade looks at him then back down at her "Do you want to go for a walk Renesmae?" She looks at him and nods yes. They both start to walk away from Dante. Dante then points Ebony to his head saying to himself as he cries "WHY WON'T THE FUCKING PAIN JUST STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!!!" As he yells that the whole Earth shakes for a couple of seconds. Jade grabs Renesmae as the ground shakes so she doesn't fall. She looks up at him "Thank you" he nods and pulls her backup. "You know I'm a vampire now?" She looks at him "Wow, really?" he nods "Yeah, Gavin turned me into one back in the Demon Realm." She looks at his sharp teeth "That's really cool Jade" He chuckles "I guess so" they both start to laugh as they start to walk back towards her house. Dante walks out in search of any animal for food. He finds a group of penguins and pulls out Ebony and Ivory and shoots two of them. He grabs the two birds and takes them back for eating. After he eats them he jumps into Limbo to see what's going on with Renesmae and that man. He gets to the house and walks in. They don't know he's there but Aaron feels the presence of another demon in the house when Dante went in from Limbo. Renesmae gets to the door "Well it was nice to talk to you and see you again Jade" He smiles "Anytime" She walks into the house around 1:04 AM. She walks upstairs to her bed to get some sleep. Jade walks for a few minutes until Dante jumps out of a portal from Limbo. Dante sees who it is and says "Holy shit. Jade, is that really you? God damn man it's been a while how have you been?" Jade looks at him "I'm guessing your Renesmae's boyfriend?" he looks at Dante right in the eyes. Dante says "It's complicated right now. We've dated before all this shit happened but some things have been happening." Jade tries not to laugh "Well she said she never said yes to being your girlfriend, so what's up with that" Dante says "Well after she lost her memory things have been hard, and when she got them back she remembered me and I promised to never leave her again but then Hunter did something to her again and I got pissed to the point to where I flew out of the house to go look for him but then I remembered what I promised her and came back and now she's mad at me. Wait. Why were you laughing?" "I'm not just thinking about something anyways I have to go" Jade turns ghost and leaves the area. Renesmae is up in her room hiding in the closet looking at her phone. Dante thinks about going back inside but he doesn't know if he should. He jumps into Limbo again and walks into the house to see what Renesmae is up to. She gets out and lays her phone on the nightstand and gets on the bed "I don't know what to even do anymore" she pulls her legs up to her chest. Dante jumps out of Limbo and walks into the room and says "Hey Renesmae." In a sad and weeping voice. She looks at him and then back at the floor "Are you here to ask about Jade or something?" Dante says "No. I'm here to apologize for leaving and making you yell." She looks back at him and then back at the floor, she doesn't say anything. Dante says "Renesmae please say something. I don't want us to fall apart again. Please." She looks at him "I don't know what to say" Dante takes his coat off and places it on the hook. He sits on the bed next to her. "I don't want us to fall apart again. It was horrible the last time but it feels like it's happening again and it hurts worse this time." She looks at him and lies on his shoulders, she doesn't say anything. He then proceeds to grab her and hugs her tightly. "I love you and I always will. I know I broke my promise to leave again but I came back. I don't want to lose you again and I'll do anything to make sure of it. I promise and I swear I won't break this one." She hugs him back and leans back onto the bed with him to cuddle him. He pulls her in closer and starts to fall asleep with her in his arms. Renesmae talks just a little bit but very quietly "This was easy" Dante hears her talking and says "What did you say?" Renesmae acts like she is asleep. Dante then falls back to sleep holding her closer. The next morning Renesmae is gone and is at the doc looking at the water thinking about her life. Soon Aaron walks downstairs and looks at her from the back door, just watching her and trying to see what she is thinking about. Dante gets up and sneaks downstairs and sees Aaron staring at Renesmae. He quietly walks up to him and says "What the hell are you doing?" as he clenches his fists. Aaron turns around and looks at him, then down at his hands and laughs, then turns back around and leans on the doorway looking at her "I'm just trying to figure out what she is thinking" Dante asks "Why?" He keeps watching her "I know you have seen how she has been acting for the past few weeks now" "She does seem off a little bit but that still doesn't explain why you're spying on her." Aaron looks dead at him and then goes to walk away from him "At least I keep an eye on her when she is alone" he says as he goes to walk up the stairs. Dante grabs his arm and says "What is that supposed to mean?" Aaron pulls his arm away and looks down at him "It means you should show her more care. She's tired of feeling alone it's why she wants to kill herself Dante" he walks up the stairs into his room. Dante then points his gun at him "Say some shit like that again. I'm not scared for round two." He walks outside to Renesemae and asks her "Hey. Is everything okay?" She looks up at him and nods yes, She goes back to looking at her reflection. Dante asks "Why do you always look at your own reflection? Do you see something?" She looks up at him and then back at the water. Dante wraps his arms around her from behind and rests his head on her shoulder for a bit. Renesmae lays her head back on his shoulder. Dante then starts to kiss her neck saying how much he loves her.Renesmae just smiles as he kisses her. Dante then tells her he's going to make some breakfast for them. She nods to say okay she lays back on the doc thinking. Wondering if this really is the right life for her or not.
