"That's..."

Huo Wei hesitated nervously. Before him stand a chance for him to be free of this miserable life, but he was constantly reminded of those who were like him and failed to escape. Seeing this, Lotus knew that it was too good to be true if this guy actually accepted her request on the spot, so she continued, "Take your time to think it over. However, I'll only be around for a couple of days by the border. Then, we'll be leaving."

"Leaving?" A-Cong looked up in bewilderment.

"Of course." Lotus responded unhesitantly, "I only planned to come and travel to an oasis and it just so happened that there was an oasis around the borders. We haven't even gotten close to it when we were attacked."

Hei Hui nodded her head with a sigh, "I thought this would be the case. Very well. However, I'm afraid it is dangerous for you to stay on the borders of the dorm. The nights on the borders are much colder than that of the outskirts. If you want to stay around an oasis, we have an oasis here. Normally, I do not allow outsiders to reside around our oasis, but I can make an exception this time as you are students of this school."

"Hm? But, won't we be intruding on you?" Lotus noted when she heard this.

"How can it be?" Hei Hui spoke up in surprise, "We are the guardians of this dorm. It is a part of our duty to watch over the students."

"Yet, it would make us feel bad if we were to stay over for too long." Lotus brought up innocently, "We planned to camp at an oasis, but to think we'd be attacked just as we got there..."

"But, what if you get attacked again?" Hei Hui reasoned nervously, "It is our duty to protect the students too."

"Well..." Lotus thought for a bit before looking to Raaji who was looking to her in confusion and she sighed, "I understand. Raaji is probably still confused since he does not know of the guardians up until now. He will need to place to regather his thoughts."

"Very well." Hei Hui nodded her head with a relieved smile and turned to A-Cong ready to speak with the guy nodded his head firmly and vanished.

Seeing this, Hei Hui could already tell that he would follow her words regardless of his own will and smiled wearily with worry before turning back to the two, "A-Cong will help set up a little place for your friend to rest in. It is not as comfortable or big as the dorm rooms, but it will at least shelter you from the elements."

"That should be all right." Lotus responded, "As freshmen, we don't get a larger space of our own till another year or so. You don't have to worry about me, though. I have somethings to attend to later, so I won't be staying with him."

"I see..." The woman looked to her in surprise before looking to the boy before her with reluctance before she approached him, "Seeing that your companion is more knowledgeable about us, we shall leave the explanation with him. You will have to excuse me. I have not conversed with a student or a human in many years now, so what I say may not be coherent enough for you to process with."

"O-Okay..." Raaji noted nervously with a glance over to Lotus hesitantly.

Lotus smiled, "It's fine. I can at least promise that neither would bite you."

Hearing her say that doesn't make it anymore reassuring when it came from her of all people! Needless to say, A-Cong soon returned, "Let's go."

As they were about to move, Lotus paused as she looked back and saw that Hei Hua had not followed and was instead looking curiously to Huo Wei who was still stuck in place.

Ah, right! She almost forgot about the guy.

She quickly changed up the position of the acupuncture and Huo Wei nearly crumbled to the ground in shock. She actually knows the secret of the needle techniques that only his sect are well-known for the advancement of this field!

Accupuncture aren't really known to many in their world and aren't considered to be used for medical as it was for assassinations. Yet, just one look at her abilities and he could tell that she is fluent with this technique. Yet, seeing that she is a student in this world, he could easily understand that she is a resident of this world and is capable of cultivation. With the ability to cultivate, it only made her the most likely candidate to being the most sought target they were looking for.

Taking this into account, he realized that they have underestimated her capabilities. Seeing this, Hei Hui couldn't help but shudder at the idea that they almost tried to kill her. If that had occurred, it wouldn't be the heavenly lightning that strikes them down, but this person instead!

Hei Hui gave the man a light bow and walked away, not knowing or caring for which he would choose. She had already warned him, after all. That if his decision was to harm a student of their school, they would be forced to strike. If not, they could continue this co-exist that they managed so far with him. It was simply his misfortune that his target was clearly a student of their school, so they will also be forced to act against him if he does attempt to harm her.

On the new campsite, there was a wooden hut built between two of the many palm trees around the area. the oasis was large and the nearby stone table had a bowl of fruits on it. Lotus turned around to find the guy that had escorted them have gone to practice his martial arts on the desert a distance away from the oasis in the blink of an eye. Seeing this, she was relieved to know that she made the right choice to act first earlier or he would've harmed the two of them in a blink of an eye.

"I shall return to checking on the dorm's situation." Hei Hui said as she was about to leave them.

"But, what of the trapped hound from back there?" Lotus brought up curiously, "Is it all right for you to leave them out there? That trap back there... The one that caught him was yours, wasn't it? The second one that caught your friend was mine, correct?"

"That is correct." She responded with a slight smile, "We may talk of their situation after I ascertain the current situation of the dorm. You should take this time to rest for today. I heard that the world outside of this dorm is the most peaceful it has been in years. So, I can take it that you boys are not used to running for your life just now. Please go ahead and take a break. I shall tighten the security around the entrance to the dorm, so this does not happen again. I will return to check upon you later."

With this, the woman left them be. The moment she did, Raaji turned to Lotus and asked in bewilderment, "Wh-What in the world is going on here?!"

To tell the truth, the majority of what had happened just flew by him followed by the entire chase scene. When he awoke, he was covered in sand and even vomited on the spot. Yet, aside from Lotus, no one else cared much since she was attentive enough to hand him a handkerchief! At that point, there was a bit of a buzz in his mind and the only thing that came to his thoughts was that he does not want to get into trouble or trouble others. He just wanted to go back to the dorm and pretend this was all just a dream!

He turned to Lotus and asked her nervously in a jumble mess, "Just... who are you? What's this cultivate stuff they were going on about? A guardian?"

God, someone help him!
