The moon rose in the sky, it was a full moon with a shade of red on it. Everyone that had attended the festival had taken their true form and turned into a werewolf.
They surrounded the chosen and waited for the king to come and start the ceremony. It was of at most importance today that the sacrifice is made.
The King arrived with his escorts at the festival. Lana who was yet to transform went to welcome him. She hugged the young boy wearing a hood and felt happy that he listened to her and agreed to attend the festival.
She led him to the stones and handed him a sacred knife to perform the ritual with.
"A demon," the young boy spoke.
"Yes, it was a mistake but there was no time to get someone else," she explained to him.
"Let the festival begin," he ordered.
The rest of his pack transformed into their werewolf state as he took his place in the center of the stone.
When the moon was position right above his head. He raised the knife and stabbed each chosen in the heart. Their blood flowed from their bodies into stone and traveled down the carvings on the stones until they made it to the center of the stones.
The moon shined upon them right before blue dust started falling from the sky. The harvest festival had begun.
The king went on his knees, he removed his clothes and kept them aside. His body felt like it was being ripped apart as his bones and skin changed into that of his wolf.
He took three minutes to transform into a wolf. His pure blue fur was unlike anything they had ever seen before. All the wolves at the festival were shocked at the appearance of the king who barely ever took his werewolf form.
He had a white moon-like Mark on his forehead that glowed while the fur on his collar was pure white.
He jumped from the circle and on top of the stone that Nathaniel laid on and stared down at his people. He bowed his head to the moon, the others followed suit and did the same.
Soon all the wolves bowed down to the moon letting the blue dust fall on them. With their eyes closed, they felt the blessing of the moon goddess upon them.
Each took the chance to thank the moon goddess and make a wish of what they desired the most in the world.
"I wish that my brother may be freed from his curse and be happy," Lana wished upon the goddess.
"May you grant a long life to Lana," the King wished.
She was the only thing that mattered the most in the world to him and he was not going to let her lack in anything. He knew that he could have wished his curse but he didn't.
A life without a curse would be nothing if his sister didn't get the happiness she deserved.
Lana saw Axel's face in her head and heard a whisper of his name in her ear. The goddess had granted her a true mate on the night of the faithful festival.
The King saw Nathaniel in his demon form and heard his name whispered in his ear. He opened his eyes and transformed back before the harvest was over.
The blessing of the goddess was one that he was afraid of. He didn't want a mate, especially when the mate in question is a demon.
In those few seconds, he caught a glimpse of the future and it didn't look well for him. He got off the table and took deep breaths.
The blue dust still fell on his body, despite his refusal to accept the blessings of the goddess. She blessed him and bonded him to the demon. They were now fated.
Mating was something that was by choice. Werewolves had the power to choose their partner and it was only on this festival that one was chosen for you.
Many were happy with the choices of the moon goddess as it meant their relationship had the blessing of the goddess and as such they, each would have the power of pair of a ties.
Being paired with your partner for life was a wish that few could get. As it meant that whatever your mate feels you feel it too, it brought about transparency in a relationship.
There were no secrets between fated mates. "This is just what I needed, a mate that wants me dead," he uttered sarcastically.
He knew that it was a bad idea to attend the harvest the minute his sister brought it up and now he was regretting the fact that he said yes to her.
In no way was the demon going to be any good to him or his pack. The anger and thrust for revenge that the demon felt were in him as well. It was torture to feel so much negative energy directed at himself.
"This is not a blessing but a curse. Three curses in one lifetime? One would think you are exacting some sort of vengeance on me," he spoke staring at the moon.
Just as he finished talking the light of the moon fell on him. And unlike the others who had the blue dust continuously flowing to them. Enhancing their genes and abilities. Red dist started dropping on him from the moon.
Each drop makes his senses heighten to a degree that he had never known possible. He closed his ears in pain when he could hear the whole city.
Car honking, people talking, music playing, utensils being washed. All the sounds made in the city were reaching his ears. He opened his eyes to glare at the moon and found that he could see further than before.
His nose was catching all sorts of smells around the city. He fell to the ground and forcefully transformed back to his werewolf form against his will.
In his werewolf form. The red dust directly fell on his mark. It didn't touch any other part of him.
"My blessings are always with you," he heard the familiar voice of the moon goddess whisper to him before all the dust disappeared concluding the harvest.
