Grace chortled to Samenffa's side before they started walking, their destination, a secluded elevator just ahead. Most of the employees threw in their greetings as the boss passed them while the others rolled in their side comments, one of which reached Samenffa's ears.
"The boss is sick, look at how bony he…"
Samenffa couldn't completely make out what the person said after the first sentence but it was not like he wanted to, this was expected.
Subsequently, the elevator closed, he let out a sigh of relief again and felt freed. Grace didn't say anything, she was in her assistant mode. How she switch personalities always baffled Samenffa, one minute she is acting like his best friend then the next, she is serious and all-knowing.
The duo reached the first floor with time to spare. The elevator led them directly to Samenffa's office. Grace waited for him to step out but he just trapped his lower lip between his frontal teeth and stared.
She had to clear her throat to bring Samenffa back to earth. His sneakers slowly touched the floor as if it was laced with lava, thankfully he reached his desk after snail walking to it. Out of habit he stroked the wooden desk and as usual, it was clean, he was a sucker for tidiness some considered it his special kind of madness.
He felt a speck of disappointment with the organization of the table and molded his mouth to the side, someone moved his stuff. The minor frown left his face and was supplanted with a smile. His sister didn't change the paint of the office and it was a pleasant surprise. She hated the color.
His entire office was coated white, since he spent most of his time there, Samenffa made an effort to make it comfortable. The best interior decorator was hired for the job. Four white gold-armed recliner chairs were lined opposite each other with box-shaped tables by their sides.
The middle had an eye-catching white fur carpet that most people avoid stepping on. Two chairs faced the table.
Samenffa sat after which he tugged the president stone tag that had his name forward. He watched Grace lift the stand of the camera she was setting just as the A. I security showed them footage of a boy holding a tray at the door .
He(Samenffa) pushed one of the buttons under his desk and the door opened. An athletically built red haired boy in his late teens stepped in and began his journey to the almighty president's table. He chose the path behind the recliners , not him spilling coffee on the carpet that had been rumored to have cost over a million Msh.
He greeted his boss who replied with a slow batting of his lashes, the coffee boy wasn't aware but his face was flushed. Samenffa was used to this, people found his blinks charming and seductive.
The coffee boy took the courageous step of speaking as he lifted the jug. "I, I am ha-happy da- that you are back ss-sir."
Samenffa curved his lips. The boy's regional ascent came out as he stuttered, he was a northerner but something wasn't right, he was too good-looking for the job.
"Feels good to be back." He replied.
Grace waited for the boy to exit before she faced Samenffa. If only he turned he could have seen the look of disapproval on her face. It had become traditional, every time a coffee boy or girl gets a reply or comment from Samenffa they fall in love. Many have been fired and this idiot will be joining them soon for admiring their cute president.
"They are ready for you, "she said.
Samenffa's shoulders tensed up but then he heaved them down. "So am I."
"Anchor, Show boardroom," Grace muttered out loud.
A 9inch monitor erupted from the ceiling, it showed a meeting room with a few well dressed people in it. She looked at Samenffa one last time and then got validation before she tapped the record icon on the camera.
"Hello everyone, Mother." Samenffa bowed after the last word left his mouth. The monitor helped scan all their face but one stood out. Samenffa's brows snap together in annoyance because of the stranger. "Who are you?"
The camera visiting everyone's face stopped turning when it found the intended. It was a fake blonde man seated by Samenffa's kid sister, Queen.
The corner of her mouth quirked up. She pulled the man's jaws to her red tainted lips and kissed the edge of his month.
("You mean Bentley? Big bro he is my boyfriend that makes him practically family right?") Her bell-like voice could make eyes twitch.
Alexander, Samenffa's cousin whose hands were crossed on his chest took the liberty of replying. ("No it doesn't.")
The table was surrounded by ten members of the Power family who were unwilling to interfere. Everyone was tired of Queen and her poor choice of men.
Queen peered at him and stuck out her tongue after saying, ("no one asked for your opinion!")
"Shut up! Both of you, " Samenffa barked. "Mr. Toyota or whatever you are called I want you to get out of that room before I have security throw you out!"
The man jumped to his feet in fear. It was his first time seeing the ruthless president of the Power fashion company but his news had long been preached to him. His family came first and if you are considered a threat, you will be eliminated.
He forcefully freed his right hand from Queen's grip and ran out of the room like a spineless chicken.
Queen pouted in disappointment, she wanted to show off her boyfriend, too bad the guy was a certified coward. Samenffa's teeth kissed, he didn't know where he went wrong with her.
She was not like most rich kids, she didn't date those within her class. She preferred older men pretending to be in her class. It had been like that since their father died, Samenffa sometimes blamed himself for how she turned out. He was too busy being the scapegoat to do his daddy duties.
"Let us begin, "he announced.
("Samenffa?") Valentina's uncertain voice rang out her son's name. Her neck was braced with an exquisite blue diamond necklace that was eye catching. ("Are you so upset with us that you couldn't even have the courtesy to be here physically when we are in the same building?! Do you have no respect for me?")
Her voice sounded choked like she was about to cry but the one she was reprimanding kept a straight face.
She was a woman in her mid-fifties. Her lips had her favorite brand of lipstick, Ruby Wu. She had a well-kept appearance of a woman who spent her time in Jewelry shops and high-class social gatherings. Her face and neck were still tight thanks to the gifted hands of her surgeons. Latinas rarely had blonde hair but she claimed hers was natural.
"Yes, I am that disappointed in all of you," Samenffa affirmed.
