First Wave! (1)

William chatted with Tom for a while yet no great conclusion came out of it. The chat only seemed to stagnate further as if everything was alright.

So William had only one option, he knew that Tom had some chance to survive with his sword yet he had nothing! If taken out the sacrificial tome which he was very reluctant to get involved with.

'Only less than an hour left, what can I do? The way I saw those hallucinations, the monsters seemed very big and aggressive. I can't fight with them at all… even with this book. What to do…'

William seemed to go on a thinking spree. He had nothing else to do. The World Chat had nothing other than people talking with each other about how this situation could not be real or how they got such equipment that made them feel like a god.

He went inside the tower to look for anything in particular and there was nothing… no furniture, no bed, and not even a fridge. It was an empty construction that seemed good for defense for himself yet there was nothing inside.

In the end, the only feasible solution was to just make contact with the sacrificial book.

William stared at it for a minute and finally mustered his strength to touch the book. It was going to be the first time.

Sweat formed on his head even though the atmosphere was a bit cold. But after some slow movement, his finger finally touched the book.

'Hmm…' William looked at the book with confusion, he felt that the book was rough to touch at first but nothing more.

It felt like a normal book making William nod before he mustered the strength to actually grab it.

'It's heavy.' William now held the book in his hand, the book was not the weight of a normal one. It was around 4 kgs which felt light and heavy at the same time.

Willam waved it around and after getting a little comfortable with it, he actually opened the cover.

Drop Blood

——

The ominous words were again written on the first page, William didn't like the words one bit he had no choice.

Going to battle with something was always better than having nothing.

He had so little information that everything seemed dangerous to him.

With a little less than an hour left, he felt threatened by the upcoming events.

"It's either this or nothing…" William looked at his other hand, specifically his finger, he made it near his mouth and with a big sigh bit on it.

He looked at the finger again and saw that there was no blood. With a frown, he bit it again with extra strength.

He looked at it, there was what seemed a bruise on it yet still no blood.

"How does it look so easy when others do it?"

This time around, William used his canine and dug it in the finger. It felt painful and he didn't know just how much he had to exert in order to get the blood as it already had started paining a lot.

He did one last jerk of strength and with it, he finally felt a trickle of blood in his mouth. The iron-like taste was not good yet he felt satisfied.

William kept the book on the ground with its cover still open. The first page of the sacrificial tome could be seen enticing him to drop that blood anytime he wanted.

William thought that this was a very bad idea yet he had this craziness in his mind that told him that it was fine.

He kept his finger just a few inches above the book and waited for the blood to fall.

"…"

No blood came out frustrating him this time. He squeezed his finger when finally, the wound opened again and a small drop of blood came out of it.

William saw the blood come out and the next second, it was on the paper.

There was no reaction for the first 5 seconds yet he still waited for a reaction.

The blood stayed right there and then the book started vibrating.

"What?" William felt like something was wrong and it was not because the book itself was vibrating. Under the craziness, it actually looked normal.

What came after blew William's mind.

William could tell that the vibration was strong as even the ground started to feel like many ants were crawling under and around his feet.

He did not know why but since nothing there was going to fall at him just because of an earthquake, he had a very dumb idea in mind.

William placed pressure on his feet so that he could take that massage even if it was only for a few seconds.

The next moment, William dropped to his knees, his eyes dazed as if he had drank a lot of alcohol.

He fell on the ground while the book was still open.

William took time to close his eyes yet he was out of it way before than that.

Just like that, he fell unconscious the seconds time he was in this place. It was a record as he had never felt unconscious before.

TING

Unstopping notification sounds came from the object on his wrist yet William was too engrossed in his sleep.

Minute turned to minutes and there was finally some movement.

It was not natural as the notification sound was now louder and in a musical way as if an alarm was going on.

"Ugh… annoying." William tried to smack the right side of his shoulder where the alarm clock was usually present and even after the smack, nothing happened.

His hand instinctively went toward the noise and he clicked on the button making the hologram open.

[Successfully binded with the 'Sacrificial Tome'!]

[The artifact has now binded with you and will only work on your command.]

[Only 5 minutes left till the first wave hit! Good luck, everyone!]

William couldn't read all that as he was still lazily lying on the ground.

After two minutes, he was finally up on his butt. His eyes fell on the hologram hat was open since he smacked that object on his wrist.

"Holy…!" William got up on his feet within a second and stumbled.

He looked at the hologram and then at the fog.

'2 minutes?! How did so much time went by?'

William looked at all the notification that were still coming on the hologram. He clicked on them and saw just how many messages had been bombarded on him.

The wave was finally starting.
