Black Moon Hospital
In a luxurious private room within the hotel, Ken Kaneki surveyed his surroundings with absolute surprise, struggling to comprehend what had happened to him during his stay in this place.
Unaware of how much time had passed, Kaneki gradually regained consciousness and fought to sit up to get a clearer view of where he was. As he attempted to move, he felt his muscles stiff and a sharp pain penetrating every corner of his body.
Kaneki looked down and noticed that some kind of intravenous drip had been applied. His arm occasionally felt cool and numb, creating an uncomfortable sensation. On his left knee, there were still some bandages and various devices connected to his skin, sending signals to what seemed to be a computer.
Frowning, Kaneki looked around in confusion.
This was a very expensive room in an unknown hospital, he knew this from the ample space and meticulous decoration. However, he couldn't recall what had happened for some time.
At that moment, hurried footsteps could be heard approaching Kaneki's room. Several figures dressed in suits entered, followed by some doctors.
A doctor quickly spoke in a respectful voice. "Mr. Kaneki, it's a great surprise that you're awake."
Kaneki focused his gaze and was immediately stunned.
The man in the black suit who entered brought vague memories just before everything went black.
"Was he in that place?" Kaneki thought to himself with a throbbing headache.
"Cough! Cough!"
The doctor cleared his throat while looking at the documents in his hands. When he was finally ready, he looked at Kaneki and said, "I will now read the results after your terrible injuries... Due to methods that we don't plan to share with you, your body is in perfect condition. It was a miracle that your body accepted some organs that were transferred to you before the accident you suffered."
Hearing the medical examination of his own body, Kaneki couldn't help but frown. He looked at the doctor, who fell silent for a moment, and said with a light voice, "Is that all?"
The doctor glanced at Kaneki and said, "I'm afraid not, but there's no need to mention it because all those are past issues."
"I'm unaware of my current status, but as you say, I may have lost some organs in the accident. Is that correct?" Kaneki asked, looking at the doctor attentively. Even now, he wasn't fully aware of the severity of the problem.
It's confusing; Kaneki remembers that in the last moments before losing consciousness, he was lying in his own blood. If his body was in such bad shape, how is it possible that he made it to a hospital?
Something didn't make sense, so Kaneki couldn't fully trust the words of this doctor who, from experience, seemed more nervous and scared than he, who was receiving terrible news about the state of his body.
"Yes, we still need to observe how your body develops and how it accepts the operation you underwent."
Kaneki frowned upon hearing the doctor's words. How could he have sustained all those injuries? How is he still alive? With all those wounds, it's certain that no one could survive... Wait, was that night?
"I understand..." Kaneki said after a few minutes of silence, but his voice was calm and composed.
The two conversed politely for a bit longer. Finally, the doctors glanced at the men in black suits and nodded as they exited the room, leaving him alone with these two individuals.
"How are you feeling, Kaneki?" one of the men asked, their attire quite similar. Both wore expensive black suits, but one of the figures emanated something that distinguished him from the other.
Seeing the sudden silence, the man continued while looking at Kaneki and said, "I am a detective investigating your case. I was assigned after that tragic night, so you don't need to worry about anything."
Kaneki, who didn't remember much, asked, "What is a detective doing in my room?"
"I can easily answer your doubts, Kaneki. I am here to help you remember everything that happened that night," the detective explained in the best way possible, speaking with a clear voice.
Kaneki nodded and asked, "Can I know what happened?"
He had to gather whatever information was convenient for him to know for sure what problem he was involved in. With not much to think about, Kaneki's memories were disordered, and some were even blurry.
Therefore, acting as he would in this type of situation, he thought about everything that was happening and internally analyzed it to get a better idea of what was going on.
"You were a victim of a Ghoul attack. We have little information about what happened that night, but we want to know what you remember. Do you understand?" the detective asked, looking at Kaneki strangely.
"I understand perfectly..." Kaneki nodded with a somewhat lost expression, as if he didn't believe what he had heard.
"Wasn't that a dream?"
The detective smiled and said, "A dream doesn't end up leaving you in special conditions within a hospital bed... Let's go over what happened that night when you had the accident. I want to know many things about what happened to compile an official report."
"Well, I remember having a date with Miss Rize... She was kind, and she was very beautiful. What I don't remember is how everything happened. She suddenly bit me; that night, I should have died, and I don't understand how I am alive..." Kaneki held his head when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his brain. Those memories that he had unconsciously been suppressing burst forth like an unending source of horrible images.
"Aaarhhh!"
The detectives observed this without expression. They were under the command of the organization and were tasked with gathering information for Kenzo.
At that moment, footsteps were heard outside the hallway, and the door was suddenly opened. Kenzo, who was at the entrance, saw all this commotion and said with a cold voice, "Don't suppress your fears, accept what happened, and control your breathing."
