Chapter Six: The Act Continues Within My House

Eveline's POV

Tired, I laid my exhausted body carefully on the neatly prepared queen size bed that I stumbled across when exploring the gigantic estate. My eyes closed shut, taking in the serenity around me and listening to the sound of my breathing. My eyes flew open again, I applied force to my body and pushed myself up and sat on the bed, still feeling slightly drowsy. There was a knock on the door.

'Was Axel home already?' I thought, standing up and making my way towards the wooden door and twisting the perfectly carved doorknob, swinging the door open. My heart dropped when the person who stood at my doors was not my fiance and instead a bunch of unknown men, wearing a similar uniform.

"Good evening Mrs. Draven." So they already know of Axel and I's a special arrangement., perhaps they work for Axel. "Mr. Draven had told us to transport all of your items from your former house to this estate." I already know, Axel told me.

"Then are you done?" I inquired, my voice slightly crooked. "All done Madam. We will leave now." They bowed in unison before turning around.

My hand seemed to have not learned its lesson as it grabbed one of the men's clothing gently. "When will Axel finish work?" I blurted. Oh great. Now my mouth isn't listening to my brain huh. Worse of all, I accidentally referred to my boss by his first name. Terrific, now these men will report back to him and I'll have to suffer the fricking consequences all because I could not keep my stubborn mouth and hands under control.

As expected, Axel's worker looked stunned and then cleared his voice before answering that he does not know for he is only a minor worker. Although that was not the answer my heart yearned for, I nodded and chose to just accept it.

Feeling awkward, the workers quickly left the building and left me alone. After making sure that there was no one else other than me on the estate, I stretched my arms and then made my way down to the kitchen and prepared a small meal for myself. 'Will Axel visit me again?' I thought, chewing on rice. Why the hell am I so desperate to see him again? I have work tomorrow and thus I will already be able to do so. I arched my back such that I was leaning back on the chair in an uncomfortable manner. I'm not sure why but that seems to calm me down.

There was a knock on the front door. Reluctantly, I got up and opened the door while grumbling under my breath.

"Your husband came back home because a certain someone seemed desperate to see him and this is the kind of reaction I get?" My head flew up the second I heard that deep husky voice I just can't seem to get out of my mind. Axel was there, still in his suit and holding a bouquet. A white ribbon was tied around the paper in a lovely shade of purple. The paper was shaped to form a cone-like appearance and inside the cone, there laid a dozen roses. I was taken aback, why would he go all out to get a girl he does not even like flowers?

Axel grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his arms for a warm hug. I hugged him back. "People are watching us. Pretend that we're in love." Axel whispered. My heart sank. I was almost happy that he ditched work to come to visit me and bring me flowers. I should've known better. Axel does not reciprocate the feelings I had towards him. Or perhaps this was just a little crush. Perhaps I don't truly love him and this tingling feeling inside of me will disappear soon. I hope that was the case because I don't think my heart is prepared for another mental breakdown.

I chose to push aside my hurt feelings and welcomed my 'husband' back home by stepping aside and allowing Axel to enter my estate. A childish grin rested on my face the entire time which is starting to take a toll on my cheeks.

Axel plopped himself down comfortably on my sofa as if this was his house. This is ironically true since this whole neighborhood belongs to him. Axel looked at me and then pat the space next to me, beckoning me to sit down next to him. I obliged.

"Everyone who lives in this neighborhood is acquainted with my mother. They will report anything unusual or important to her. Please be mindful of how you speak and act around them. Don't avoid them, it'll only make my mother even more suspicious of our relationship. Also, I need to reprimand you for screaming earlier. Now my mother is aware that you do not know that I own this neighborhood." Axel explained. I nodded my head and raised my hand slightly like a student in class asking the teacher a question. Axel gestured for me to ask my question.

"Since you own this neighbor, why do they live here?" I inquired. Axel flinched slightly.

"Because I own this neighbor," Axel began, "That's why it makes sense that my relatives would choose to occupy these estates. They rent the houses here though, given how expensive the houses are. They do receive a discount though. So in conclusion I still own these housings and can kick them out anytime."

"Oh. Then does that mean you would kick me out too?" I questioned. Axel sighed and looked at me like I'm an idiot.

"Of course not. You're going to marry me and become my wife. Why would I kick you out?" None of his words hinted that he liked me, I facepalmed mentally. Instead of trying to argue, I just accepted his answer and then announced that I was going to go to bed.

"Where do you think you're going?" Axel demanded as I straightened my legs and was beginning to make my way upstairs where I won't have to face that gorgeous face of his, as much as I hate to admit it. "To bed," I answered.

"Why do you want me here when you're just going to ghost me and go sleep alone?" Axel shook his head. I turned around a stoic expression on my face.

"Oh? Then why don't we sleep together? Seeing how upset you are that I'm ignoring you." I spat, definitely not meaning anything that I said.

"Fine by me," Axel announced before getting up and walking towards me, "That's what couples do anyways, right?"

It would be a lie if I said that I was not speechless by his words.
