Lauren's Condition

I walked into the room, trying to sneak. Lauren was sitting there her eyes had dark circles, she looked utterly haggard. Upon seeing me walk in she went into a daze, not believing what she saw.

I sat beside her on the bed: " You've been waiting."

Lauren came out of her stupor, she hugged my arm: " Sorry for being like that, I knew it was an accident, but I got angry anyway."

I better tell her I did, exactly what I said I wouldn't. I have no idea how she's going to act.

" I had sex with Stella, I know it's wrong," I said holding her hand.

Lauren didn't look up:" I know."

" Aren't you supposed to be mad," I said bewildered, " You know what I mean right?"

" Of course I know what it is. Do you think I'm an idiot? You've been gone for so long!" the viciousness drooling from her throat.

I stayed quiet waiting for her to continue: " I went through so much while you were gone, I haven't slept since that night. Did you know I was there when Stella rescued you?"

" Yeah, she told me," I said in a whisper, I thought saying these words would be easy to say but they weren't.

" Did she tell you she had me chase after that man, I was overcome with rage I have never felt before," She said trembling with what I first thought was fright, but it was smoldering anger, " ...I gave it much thought, and I can't let you go."

" If it makes you feel better, Stella and I won't be a thing, I made sure of it; we made a deal, I have sex with her once and we'd be friends and nothing else. Did you know Stella was lonely, she has no friends. Everyone is too scared to come near her and have a conversation. She also has no parents to lean on. I bet she gave you a look that could kill the dead, right?" I said looking into the distance.

" Yeah she did, I felt like an insect ready to be crushed," she said almost falling asleep.

I rubbed her hand with my thumb and said, " I didn't let her take my virginity, I wanted to save it for you."

"Where did she touch you?" This wasn't a question that I couldn't answer.

Lauren put her hands on her hips talking up to Stella:" You owe me, you borrowed Sera for the last few days while I was up worrying, I thought Sera was going to leave me. Since you've had more fun with her than I have its only natural."

"I'm confused, shouldn't you be trying to kill me?" Stella said her eyebrows furrowing.

"That's what I said," I but into the conversation.

"Sera, this conversation is between us," Lauren said while looking at Stella.

Now that she knows I'm sorry and want to make it up to her, she's going to take this as far as she can. She can tell me to do anything She wants and I'm her dog. I kind of like that idea in away.

" You'll become lovers of Sera and I, I won't forgive you or her otherwise, Lauren said as she said this so only the two of them would know, " What will you do?"

" Isn't the answer obvious, I don't have feelings for you, but I can't tell what I feel toward her," She said.

I couldn't catch what they said, but Lauren's been acting strange ever since. When I came back her personality was strange, she's still the same Lauren but somethings off. She even decided that we would all walk to school together. I wonder what's going on, they walked on each side of me; I felt like I was being escorted.

I spoke up feeling uncomfortable," So, I'm going to talk to dawn about the things that happened to me the other day," we weren't too far away from the school when I said this. They both agreed to come with me to tell their side of the story. Stella waved by to us and went to her class when we had to walk in different directions

I tugged on Lauren's arms asking, "What was all the friendliness was all about?"

" Oh, you'll see, its a surprise," She while walking into the classroom.

" Are you okay, you don't seem fine," I asked hanging on her right arm.

Lauren said," I'm trying to make it so that everything is okay? I hope we can go back to normal soon," the smile was piercing.

The teacher hadn't arrived yet so we waited, for her. I asked Lauren what we learned yesterday, apparently, we recapped and went a little in-depth into the Life Root; so not much I need to worry about. The boy who pissed me off on my first day came by putting his arm around Lauren.

He scrutinized me before saying, What are you doing sitting by this trash? She made you worry and you've lost weight as well."

Lauren extended her nails putting them against the boy's neck, " Watch what you say about Sera, if you want your neck intact that is."

Now I could say it for sure, Sera has something wrong with her. I did this, didn't I? I've heard people can have mental changes when they go under intense stress. I put my hand on Lauren's arm causing her to calm down. The boy hurried back to his seat, scared for his life. I'll take her to Clarence after class.

Layla walked in giving me and Lauren a glance, she had a complex expression.

" Welcome back, Sera. I hope you rested well," She said pacing her books onto the podium.

Layla explained the body has many channels, similar to blood veins. They let magic can easily flow throughout the body. They are essential for body strengthener ability holders. People who channel their Life Essence have no use for these channels, except to perform small scale boost.

She spent the entire day explaining the best ways for certain types of ability holders to use their ability. She took kids and showed them the best way they could use their ability to its fullest; Lauren and I were wild cards, they couldn't explain the best training methods for us to practice. The only info we had to work with was the basic's that were stated above.

After class we headed over to Dawn's office, she was busy at the moment so we waited in the hallway. I wondered why she didn't have a secretary or an official phone we could call with. After half an hour of waiting, a man with chiseled features and a large frame came out of the room, his interest peaked, but he continued on his way.

We walked into the office, Dawn looked as bright as ever.

"So what brings you three in here," Dawn said laying her palms on her desk.

"Well..." I began.

I retold what I remember, how I got into a fight with Lauren and I went to sleep on the streets. The chubby man named Vincent who put a nasty sock in my mouth. And then Lauren recounted her tail of where she flitted through the building tops and turning Vincent to ash.

The entire story was new to all of us, my details of what he was going to do to me and how I was treated; to where Lauren viciously drained the man till he was dust.

Dawn pored over the details, she concluded that I needed a bodyguard. Stella said she could do it when they were at the forge and Lauren could do it at school. Dawn liked the idea but stated no more disagreements were to be made if they had an issue bring it to her office.

Lauren suggested us three all live together as well, Stella agreed by saying that 'Sera needs the best of protection'. Dawn thought for a moment thinking over the details, of their living situation, including Abigail into the mix as well. She decided that we would all live in Stella's house, she would send movers over to clear up rooms and move everyone's things.

" Hey, Dawn can you call Clarence over here. I think Lauren needs to be looked at," I said garnering puzzled eyes form Stella as well as Lauren. Stella hadn't met Lauren before so she couldn't see the changes I could.

Dawn called Clarence into the office where he began to check her body, the exterior had no issues so he did a deep scan off her internal structure.

" This is most interesting, I know what is wrong with her. She overused her ability which this case would be blood. My guess is she let out too much which coupled with extreme stress caused her brain to go into a state of autopilot mode. Her instincts in her body are running it, but in this state, the tiniest urges are put to the extreme with the characteristics of her ability. In this state, she shouldn't make any big decisions, let alone be out of bed. It'll be gone in a week, so don't worry. Bedrest his recommended, she'll clear soon."

Clarence gave his analysis of Lauren with one hundred percent certainty; I felt bad for her. Was she put into this state due to me? I asked him to talk to me in the hallway, where I had him heal my crotch which was devastated. He didn't ask, disgusted by what I might have said happened.

I asked Dawn," I have another question, I didn't say this earlier, but Vincent said we weren't on planet Earth. What did he mean by that?"
