Trial of resilience

He was lying down in the middle of the carcasses of all the crows, However, his break didn't last for long, after a couple of minutes, he stood up and started picking up the valuables from the bodies.

Finished looting all the small fries, he climbed the boss's body and impaled his hand near it's freshly cut neck, bringing out an apple sized mana stone.

Its color was mostly green, with a little shade of cerulean in the middle.

He watched it with satisfaction, proud of his improvement.

After the successful hunt, he came out of the gate, barely managing to stand up due to its low mana.

A minute from his exit of the gate, the green gate dissolved as if it had never been there, leaving more space for the still shining red one.

He expected Elsa to be already out by then, and was a little worried about her, so, even in those terrible conditions, he entered the crack in search of his companion.

With how tired he was, he could use about a hundredth of his strength, even so, he still decided to take the risk.

Had it been a week ago, maybe he wouldn't have done it, however, in his mind Elsa was already positioned in his bigger plan.

Only a fool would ever think of facing what he intended to without any help, and letting his future help die in vain, would be even more foolish.

Inside the gate, he didn't see anything, the biome was similar to a jungle and even his heightened senses couldn't pick up any movements, if it continued like this, then he would've never been able to find Elsa and possibly rescue her.

"Calm down Bruno you gotta think" he whispered to himself, he sat down and started spreading out the last bit of his remaining mana, he covered about a radius if a hundred meters, still not finding anything, until, he sensed two mana forces colliding in the distance and hurried there as fast as he could.

When he arrived, lying on the floor was Elsa, on the verge on passing out with a stain of blood on her waist, but she was not the only one on the ground, since dozens of goblins were lying in the proximity.

The only one still standing after their fight was a goblin knight, it was covered in leather armour, and held two polearms with both his hands." At this view, Bruno released a loud sigh of relief, and both Elsa and the monster, that were previously glancing at each other, faced him.

The lady opened her mouth and dilated her eyes, trying to hurry him to run.

Even if no sound came out of her mouth, Bruno clearly understood the massage she wanted to communicate to him.

However, he was more interested in the reaction of the goblin that started laughing, thinking he had found another prey.

Bruno barely lifted his finger, and his dagger went flying, slashing the goblin head off, in just one day, this was already the second time his daggers had ended the life of a boss monster.

Since he had slain the boss, the gate would soon collapse, so he was forced to carry Elsa, even if knocked out, with him.

Since the mana stone of the goblin knight was exposed, he took the opportunity and slided it inside his bag with telekinesis.

Exhausted from carrying Elsa on his back, he collapsed on the bed beside her, and slept for a whole day.

….

He opened his eyes, the golden light of dawn was brightening up the room, while Elsa laid beside him still unconscious.

He bandaged her, and by the time he was done providing her first aid, the sun was already down and a bright moon took its place.

Even though I it was completely dark, he had just slept for a full day and wasn't tired.

Since his status and abilities had undergone another upgrade, he decided to try something new.

Awakening rank (15th——20th)

When his awakening reached the 20th rank, a brand new ability showed up in his status window: {healing factor}

[skill name: Healing factor

Effects: drastically increases your regeneration rate, also enable you to regrow limbs and heal yourself at cost of mana, with the exception of a detached head and a pierced heart.

Time and mana required will decrease with the increase in proficiency rank.

Skill proficiency rank: lowest 1st]

He had to test this new power, to see both its effects and its costs, and there was only one safe way to do it….: he took out a long kitchen knife, and went outside to avoid engulfing the house in a smell of blood.

Just beside the waterfall he firmly held the knife in his right hand and cut off his left arm.

The pain was really intense and he barely managed to keep his mouth shut.

A few minutes later, the pain had

Died down a little bit and he remembered the reason he had done it.

After checking, he discovered that the arm was slowing regrowing out, however, at its current pace it would've taken about a day, so he decided to try another way.

Moving the mana in his body towards his shoulder, took the time down to an hour, however, it was still unusable in battle.

Not happy with the results, he poured every single drop of mana he could move around his wound, and as the arm started regrowing at a terrifying speed, a terrible pain kicked in, it was even worse than the one from cutting his arm off.

It hurt so much, he didn't even scream, instead, he threw up.

He still didn't give up, and in ten seconds, his arm grew back perfectly, it felt exactly the same, as if it belonged there to begin with.

Although it was really powerful, that skill took out half of his mana reserves, this meant he could only use it to heal once during a battle for now.
