Lily stared at the black mass knowing she was about to be the one who was going to be murdered, but she didn't panic. Deep down she had hoped it would be her; she didn't want to live a life without her both best friends in it.

Something inside of her made her stand to meet the black body of nothing, waiting patiently for her death.

It stared at her intently with its pitch-black eyes waiting for the perfect moment to end her life. But not yet. It had to wait for the perfect moment. For midnight.

Lily's heartbeat rose the longer she stared at it until tears began to fall down her cheeks.

"I know it's me," she said, not bothering to wipe the tears from her face. "Just get it over with please. If I have to die then just do it quickly."

The void only watched her cry in silence. It wanted nothing more than to kill her right now and watch her blood slowly seep out of her body but it couldn't, not yet.

In its mind, the time ticked down second by second as Lily's pleads fell silent to its ears.

The time rolled over in its head to 11:55.

Anger rose up in Lily as she began to scream at it.

"Just do it! Kill me! Please!" She cried with tears rolling down her face. "Please," her voice coming out as just a whisper. "Please kill me."

11:57.

Lily would never be able to see it but the void smiled darkly at the young girl as she pled for it to take her life away.

Something in the air changed and Lily felt it.

Though the mass was completely black and hard to see against the lightless room Lily could see its hand changing.

At first, it was the simple silhouette of a hand but as the arm reared Lily could see it morph into something else, something pointed and sharp. It clicked in her that it was shifting into a knife.

The adrenaline she had been waiting for all night finally showed up when she noticed the knife coming towards her.

She felt every painful moment as the knife began ripping her skin open. It started with a small hole at the tip and slowly got bigger as it glided to the hilt with no hesitation or resistance.

Lily gasped for air as pain exploded in her stomach. Her mouth fell open as blood seeped out of the deep cut. She wanted to scream. She felt it crawl up her throat and about to come out of her mouth but before a single sound could escape her, her voice was gone. It was stolen by the feeling of having a sharp piece of metal being removed from her body before shoving it back into a new spot, creating another tear.

Her body grew weak as she began to fall to her knees. Just as her knees were about to collide with the hard ground beneath her, another dark figure appeared behind her and lifting her up. It carried all her weight as Lily began sinking to the floor.

Hole after hole ripped into her skin with every thrust of the blade.

Blood seeped out of the wounds and her mouth. Her ears rang, her limbs grew cold and numb, her mind bounced around lazily from one thing to another.

Starting with what her parents would do when they found out she was dead. Then if Sage or Maddox would blame themselves for this even though this was her fault. Lastly, she thought of what would become of her after she was dead.

Would these shadows dump her body in the woods somewhere? Hang her up like Jesus outside of city hall? Make it look like she died in her sleep in her bed? Would she still have on her blood-soaked clothes?

Her eyes began to fall closed as she lost more and more blood.

The shadow stabbing her smiled sickly as the clock ticked down even more. 11:59.

It was both a relief and a pit inducing feeling when the void stopped stabbing her and changing its arm back into a hand. The mass behind her dropped her without a care in the world and with no strength to let herself down gently, Lily feel to the ground with a loud thud.

Lily felt every bit of energy slip from her body. She tried to pull her last draining ounce of energy in for one last thing, whether it was a tap at the shadow's feet or cursing one last thing before she went.

The once loud scream that was building up inside of her earlier slowly grew again.

With one last burst of blinding energy, she took a deep breath and let the loud sound escape her body and let out everything. The pain she felt as she was being stabbed, the frustration of dying so slowly, the anger she felt at herself. It all disappeared with her rather quiet scream. Her last scream.

The shadows smiled sadistically as the time ticked one last time.

12:00.

The second the clock shifted Lily's scream ended instantly. Her eyes rolled back in her head and her heart stopped beating as blood continued to pour out of her wounds.
