First Signs (Part 1)

Mia breaths came in huffs and puffs. Her legs shook as exhaustion weighed heavily on her seven-year-old body. She looked around for a hiding place in the narrow alleyway she had just run into.

Peering around she spotted a trash bin and without thinking or hesitation, she jumped over the side and into the bin.

After a few moments of wiggling to burrow deeper into the trash, she was completely hidden. Not a moment later she heard the footsteps heading her way. Holding her breath she hoped they would pass by and look for her. "Mia, you can not hide from me. I will always find you." The voice said the first part as a song, the last part was cold and hard like ice. Mia shivered and pressed her lips so the screams and sobs that welled in her throat didn't break free.

The time seemed to go at a snail's pace. going so slow that it seemed she had been hiding for years.

Still holding her breath. Mia waited until she thought it was safe so breath a sigh of relief. The suddenly she was yanked out of the trash by her shirt. The cold air attacking her once she was out in the open.

Her tears welled and she choked on the screams in her throat until they suffocated her. Her fear overcame her when she saw the man who had yanked her from the trash.

"I found you, I told you that you can not escape me. I will kill you just like I did to your parents." Mia's tears streamed down her cheeks at the comment. She remembered seeing their bodies when she got home, with this man standing over them. She doubted this man was even a man anymore.

"Please don't kill me." She begged tearfully

"Tears will not make a difference lady." The man laughed taking the already bloodied knife out of his pocket. I don't want to die. Mia thought over and over again. The man raised the knife and Mia squeezed her eyes close. Until the man uttered the words, "what the hell?"

Mia opened her eyes and the room was different it was the same but everything was black except her and the man. She could see what was there and so could the man but it was scary more deadly. A feeling twisted Mia's guts into a painful knot.

"Well look at my delicious dinner." The man said in a voice that just barely harmonized. Except this wasn't the man anymore.

"what-what are you?!" Mia fell backward. He doubled over laughing and as he did a cloud of black, red and white smoke rose above him. It formed a beast will a white skull animal skull if some kind for it's face red eyes, and a black body.
