Ch 9: Getting to know each other

"Brother?!," Prince Henry called him back and he turned to stare at his brother.

"Why did you suddenly agreed to the coronation date been fixed?" Prince Henry questioned him, folding his arms around his chest.

"Why?. Isn't that what you and mother ever wanted," Prince Matthew replied, wanting to walk away.

"I know that's what I did expected of you to do, but I just hope you are not planning to make that strange looking woman our queen," Prince Henry warned and Prince Matthew smiled

"I haven't said anything about making her our queen, but I don't see anything wrong in that either. Isn't she a woman," Prince Matthew questioned as he stared at his brother smiling

"She's a witch brother and not a human. " Prince Henry replied and Prince Matthew grabbed him by his top. The guards in the passage quickly rush to separate them.

"Are you going to hit me because of a strange looking woman whose identity is unknown?," Prince Henry questioned.

"I will do worse than that if you ever call her a witch again," Prince Matthew threatened him before finally letting go of his shirt.

Prince Henry stared at him and walked away going back to the royal building while prince Matthew shook his head and went up to the study room. He could never hit his brother, but he had to warn him to not get anywhere close to hurting the woman he liked.

He could agree she was strange looking, but she was still his choice

Retiring to his study room and doing some other personal projects he had left like reading some few reports. It was already evening and time for dinner with his mother, he knew he had to face his younger brother again.

Prince Matthew Osas left the study room and went back to the dinning room on the royal building.

His mother was already seated and his brother wasn't anywhere closer to the dinning table .

Prince Matthew went and took his respective seat opposite his mother as the head seat which was his father's was empty.

"Where's Henry?," Queen Rosa asked.

"Mother, his probably not hungry," Prince Matthew replied and just then Prince Henry came to join them for dinner. This time he went and sat beside his mother avoiding his elder brother.

"What's going on Henry?," Queen Rosa questioned and the maid standing by the corner came to dish out the royal family food.

"Nothing mother," Prince Henry replied and Queen Rosa shook her head knowing it was that strange looking woman that was up to divide her family. How can a human be so beautiful and weird looking at a time, she sighed and started eating her food and the dinning hall became silent and only the sound of cutleries was heard.

After dinner with his brother and mother, Prince Matthew stood up to leave the dinning room and just then Queen Rosa whom was cleaning the corner of her mouth with her table napkin questioned him, "Son, I heard the coronation date as been fixed this weekend in just five days time "

"Yes mother," prince Matthew replied

"And the bride, I hope you haven't changed you mind about Benita Davis she will be the happiest woman at this moment," Queen Rosa said as a wide smile spread on her face.

"Not really mother," Prince Matthew replied.

"WHAT!." Queen Rosa stared at her son in shock.

"Don't tell me you intend marrying that strange woman, you cannot do that son, you will end up creating a fractions in our people."

"I don't care about that mother!," Prince Matthew replied.

"You should son, how else are you expected to be king?. You cannot marry her and that's final," Queen Rosa said in a challenging tone for the first time, Prince Henry Osas kept mute drinking his wine as he had requested for wine against milk.

"Mother, I beg to take my leave," Prince Matthew Osas said and left.

Queen Rosa stared at her second son.

"Did you not heard your brother claims?."

"I heard him mother, what were you expecting me to do?. He wouldn't listen so is best you allow him marry her," Prince Henry replied.

"WHAT!" Queen Rosa stared at her second son in disbelief.

"Are you actually supporting your brother to marry a total stranger?," Queen Rosa questioned him as she stood up ready to leave.

"Mother I cannot force him to marry Benita Davis either, when the kingdom divides he will be forced to do the needful to make peace." Prince Henry Osas said as he emptied his wine cup and refilled it

"And why are you drinking wine?," Queen Rosa went to stand beside him and seized the bottle from him.

"Allow me mother, at least it calls for celebration knowing brother will soon be crowned king even though am against him marrying that witch," Prince Henry Osas said as he took another sip from the glass cup.

Queen Rosa sighed and shook her head, "You are right, but I also don't support his marriage with her. If only there was a way to get ride of her," Queen Rosa said as she shook her head in distaste.

"Have you spoken to your sister and inform her about the coronation date?," Queen Rosa questioned her second son as she turned to take her leave waiting for his response

"No mother, the meeting didn't end on time, I will speak with her tomorrow and write words to her about it. You know she married to a man from Kande and their kingdom is still backward and not yet developed," Prince Henry said.

"I know son, do send my warm regards to her."

"Okay," he replied his mother and watched her leave, while he continued drinking his wine and enjoying it with the roast pork meat garnished with fresh pepper on the dinning

Prince Matthew went to the guest room to see Tata, he hadn't seen her since the morning he last visited her and he wanted to see her face before returning for the night.

Knock!, Knock!

Prince Matthew stood behind the door knocking. Princess Tata Edwards had already fallen asleep after getting all bored staying in the guest room and having nothing to do for the day. She didn't even lock the room doors as she was so tired and had completely forgotten about it.

Prince Matthew turned the doorknob and the door opened to his surprise, his heart skipped a beat wondering why she didn't lock the door and he came into the room. Just then Princess Tata woke up as she felt his presence around her, she sat up on the bed and meet his gaze as he bowed to her in a courtesy manner and came into her room.

"How are you doing?," He asked her as soon as he stepped in.

"Am fine, good evening," Princess Tata replied as she sat up properly adjusting her gown.

Prince Matthew stared at her pretty face and the gown she was wearing and she said, "Thank you for the gown."

"Is nothing, How have your day been?," Prince Matthew asked as he went to sit on the couch in the room.

"I was bored and slept off not having anything to do," she replied him and he apologized

"Sorry about that, I forgot to tell you that you wouldn't be working as a maid here."

"Why?!," She asked him as she meet his gaze and he smiled to her.

"Come with me, let's take a walk in the garden." Prince Matthew stood up and she came down from the bed as she hadn't removed the beautiful gown she was wearing. She picked up the veil she had requested and wore it. Prince Matthew didn't stop her from wearing it either, he waited for her to be thru and after that they both left the guest room and went out to the garden.
