Prologue

Jenny as a young girl did not quite understand the world she was born into, a world of monsters and magic.

But she knew somehow that that world would come for her today as she got out of her golden bed on the second floor of the royal werewolf castle. "Mommy!" She calls, and moments later Queen Rose enter her bedroom bewildered. Jenny has never called for her like this before, she was always proper, she would always come find her mother. "What's wrong my little princess?" The Queen asks in a quit voice as she bends down in front of Jenny.

"I'm not sure mommy, can we go visit grandma today?" she responds to her mother after a moment of silence.

"Not today honey, remember that we have some very important people coming this afternoon?" Jenny nods her head, looking at her mother as if it would be the last time she would see her. "I'll go get ready mommy." She tells the Queen and moves to her bathroom. Queen Rose follows her daughter with her eyes, she has only acted strangely in this way once before, the Queen recalls the day she lost her younger son, Jenny had tried to warn them, she even tried hiding her baby brother in her own room two years ago. The Queen found him in under an hour, scolding her daughter when she did. She remembers her daughter crying telling her that she doesn't want him to go to the moon, in that moment she didn't understand what her five year old was going on about, she only told her not to be silly and that no one was going to the moon. She was wrong as over three hundred werewolves attacked the castle only moments later, ripping her baby boy from her arms, she watched helplessly as they plunged a dagger through him. As the castle mourned the loss of their future king, her daughter went through something else, no one had to tell her, she knew that without a male to take the throne, it will fall to her. And she prepared, her room went from princess pink to royal gold. She no longer had toys but books, she no longer dressed like a child but more like a princess. She sat quietly in the office while her father worked, from the age of five she was preparing herself to become queen. When she was asked about this change she would only say she had a feeling that it was what was needed to be done.

Right now the Queen noticed a slight tremble in Jenny as she entered her bathroom to get ready for their guests.

Queen Rose walked as fast as she could to the royal office where she knew she would find the king, determined not to lose anyone today she barged into the office. " We need to post more guards for the meeting today, bring in all the wolves. Call on Alpha Gregg he is the closest, ask him to send as many enforcers as he can."

King Frank looked at his wife and Queen confused for a moment, he only nodded knowing that this had something to do with Jenny, he suspects that his mothers magic runs through her. "Arrange the palace guards I'll call the Alpha."

Alpha Gregg has been up for hours, training with his best enforcers when his phone rang. Taking the thing out of his pocket he knew there was trouble as only alphas had phones issued by the king, and only the king had his number, he knew that the king would not call on him for no reason, his pack was the closest to the palace, he himself was the most ruthless alpha in four generations.

"My king." He answers the phone with a strong bet respectful tone. A moment of silence follows, then a deep sigh. "We have a problem and it appears we might need your help Alpha." The king gets right to the point. "Jenny is young and struggles to understand our world and her power, but she senses trouble coming, you know what happened the last time we didn't take her seriously."

A chill runs up Alpha Gregg's spine as he recalls the events that ended the life of their future king. He recalls that Jenny has ancient magic running through her. "what can I do for you my King." He asks, and he fears the answer that might come, he might be a brutal Alpha, but in times like these, when the King calls there will almost certainly be loss of life.

"We need you to send as many enforcers as you can spare, their only job will be to protect the princess." The king hurries the words out, he might be king but Alpha Gregg is a monster even he fears. "I can send four hundred of my best enforcers and myself." Four hundred would be plenty, and they all know this, but it appears no one wants to be taking any chances today. "We will be there within the hour" he hangs up the phone, knowing that he has promised the king more than he would have asked for. He drops to his knees as a growl mixes with a howl, his wolf wants control but he pushes back. His entire pack of almost five thousand men woman and children drop everything and run to the call of their Alpha. It take only ten minutes for them all to assemble and quite down. Tensions run high, the entire pack is rarely summoned.

The Alpha's force booms across the crowd. "Our princess calls upon us to defend, she calls on our pack, and we will not let her down." He knows he has their attention, he knows how to rally his pack, he gives it a moment to sink in, then he speaks again. "I need four hundred volunteers, four hundred fighters will go with me to the castle. There is no guarantee that we will return, we don't know what we will face." The crowd is in total silence. Warriors slowly step forward, mostly those without family, young and strong. The alpha knows that this is an opportunity for some of them to find a mate and for others to build a reputation as a fighter. Almost five hundred step forward, moving behind their Alpha. "Beta Lance." The alpha calls and his Beta moves to his side. "You will look after the pack, if trouble finds the Palace there is a chance they will come through our lands. Post extra patrols around the border and pack houses. Everyone will be welcome at the pack houses." The last part was loud enough for everyone to hear. "Stay safe." It's a quite good bye from the alpha, not many words are needed. He drops to his knees and howls, it's a howl of war, they take any threat to the princess seriously, the pack blames themselves for failing to aid when the young prince fell, they will not fail again. The alpha and his small army shift into their wolves, the sound of bones breaking is deafening, it doesn't last long. They stand in front of their pack in silence, and then they bolt into the forest, they will reach the palace in less then twenty minutes. But there is much to do, they will set they're own parameter around the palace borders, and those left will guard the palace, the alpha and 20 wolves won't leave the side of their princess until the threat has passed.

As they enter the forest, heading for the palace they hear the howls of the rest of the pack that will stay behind. It's a terrifying sound, a promise to protect, a mourning for those who might not come back home. But they don't stop or slow down, they are needed, and they won't fail this time.
