Pretending

Void had gotten a lot of new information while he went to trick Scott. He was surprised to see Scott alive and well. Theo had told him he was dead, perhaps he made a mistake. He acted like Stiles all the time. Lydia was in some sort of coma state. Parrish was there too. It really wouldn't surprise Void if Theo actually wanted him too in the pack. It didn't took him long to realize Parrish was a hellhound. And that was bad news for Keylee. Even though it wasn't the same hellhound of all those years ago he wasn't sure of how the spirits would react on each other.

Right now he was sitting on the stairs of Stiles' house. Scott was hiding somewhere around the corner upstairs. Void hadn't text Theo he was still alive. He did text him to act like he was talking to Stiles. Like he hadn't come back and Theo still needed Stiles in his pack. He could only hope Theo actually did.

Theo walked up to the house. The door was open and the sun was already setting. There was a circle of mountainash around the house. Theo looked from the mountainash to Void who looked back like he was Stiles, nervous.

Theo smirked and stepped inside, the mountainash didn't affect him. Void had already suspected something like that but he didn't like it. One weakness less.

Theo looked at him and it was clear he wanted to know why to pretend like he was speaking to Stiles but Void just looked up at him without saying a word. Then he slightly moved his head upstairs and Theo moved his gaze upstairs. Probably able to hear at least someone else's heartbeat.

'I guess we're all telling the truth now.'

Void then tossed Scott's shirt at him. 'You killed my best friend.' Void stood up.

Theo stared at the shirt and back at him. 'Let's be honest, Stiles. Was he still really your best friend?'

'Are you going to let my father die?' Now Theo knew the sheriff was dying, if he didn't already knew. Void could feel Stiles listening to the conversation between them

'If I wanted him to die I wouldn't have told you where you could find him.'

'Then why are they saying his body is shutting down? That some toxin's poisoning him and they don't know how to stop it.' It wasn't really something Void wanted to know but Stiles did. And if Stiles wanted to know it, Scott would expect him to ask.

'I'm not the bad guy Stiles. I'm just a realist. I'm a survivor. If you knew the things that I know...'

'Yeah but what do you know?' That was something Void wanted to know too. What exactly did Theo knew?

'I know what's coming. I know what the dread doctors created. And I know what Parrish is.'

Void stared at him. If he knew... why hadn't he told Keylee? Or him? How long had he known?

'Lydia found it out, I saw it in her memories.' Theo continued.

'Right after you drover her out of her mind?' Another way of letting him know what had happened. Yet again, void expected he already knew that.

'Collateral damage. But if she's right about Parrish, then things around here are gonna get a lot worse.'

This entire conversation was just a way of explaining things for them, only for Scott it wouldn't sound like it.

'I don't care.' He made it sound like a statement but raised his eyebrows in a questioning way to ask if Theo cared. If he knew about Keylee and Parrish. If he knew the Iriomote Spirit and a hellhound wouldn't work.

'You should, because if your dad does survive, he's not gonna be sheriff of anything much longer.'

So he knew this could cause destruction.

'What's gonna happen?' Void asked. Though they both knew it wasn't the sheriff they meant. He wanted to know Theo's plan, especially what was gonna happen to Keylee.

But Theo just turned around. 'Hey! Tell me!'

Void grabbed Theo's shoulder but he pushed him away. Void wished he could just keep standing there but Scott would know he wasn't Stiles if he did that. So for the sake of keeping the act up and tricking Scott, he let himself fall against the stairs.

Not much later Scott came rushing down. 'Stiles, Stiles? Are you hurt?'

'I'm fine.' He answered annoyed. Why did Theo have to push him? Why didn't he answer everything? Now he was definitely not gonna tell him Scott was still alive.

'You blacked out.'

'I'm okay.' Void didn't black out of course, he just pretended to. 'Did you get anything from him?'

'Nothing, he was calm the entire time.'

'What about his heart?'

'I heard it jump but only for a second.'

'That doesn't mean he was lying.'

'Not really. The rest of the time it was steady.'

'When did it jump, what was I talking about?'

Void pretended like he didn't know it but he actually did. He could hear Theo's heartbeat just as good as Scott. And he knew what Theo had done.

'It was when you said that your dad was poisoned.'

'That could be something. A jump could mean surprise right?'

'Yeah, yeah I think so.' Void mentally facepalmed himself for how stupid Scott was. Even if he was so clear. Perhaps he should give him a small hint.

'So why was he surprised my dad's still dying?'

'Oh wait.' Bingo. 'He didn't say that he was the one who attacked your dad, did he? It means it is probably someone else... another chimera...'

Void took this as a good sing to leave. After all, he could still pretend to be mad at Scott for his fight with Stiles. Theo tricked them good, he had to admit that. But now he gave them enough clues to beat him and then he could go away with Keylee.

'Stiles?'

He walked to the car and took a seat. 'Yeah, I can handle the rest myself.'

'You don't even know where to start. A-all we know it that it's another chimerea.'

Void sighted annoyed. Why couldn't Scott just go fight Theo or something?

'Do you even know where you're headed?'

Void started the engine.

'Come on, let me help. I can find the clues that you can't.'

Void ignored him and started to drive away but Scott jumped in front of the car. 'You can't do this alone okay. You need me.'

Void felt the strong urge to just... continue driving even though Scott was still standing there but he could be useful. If Scott could just beat Theo it would be easier. Keylee would be mad at Scott instead of him.

'You need all of us, I can get more help, I can text Liam.'

'Liam just tried to kill you.' Void argued back in hopes of Scott finally shutting up. He wanted to go back to Keylee and learn her to fight just in case. He felt the annoying strong urge to protect her since she couldn't really do that herself now and it got stronger every day.

'Okay then, at least let me help.'

'You believe him?'

'You trusted him too.' Scott argued back. 'Theo got to all of us.'

Void wanted to laugh at him. Stiles didn't trust Theo, never did. He could see it in his memories. 'You know, you don't even know the real story.'

'I don't need to. All that matters right now is your dad. Come on Stiles. We survived an Alpha pack, a dark druid, professional assassins. We can survive dread doctors and chimeras too.'

Void looked down like he was deeply thinking. 'We're not looking for a missing chimera, we're looking for a missing teenager.'

Scott finally seemed to feel like he could do something. 'You track this down with your super werewolf senses and everything and meanwhile I'll go to the hospital. You wont have any use for me anyway and I really wanna stay with my dad, this might be the last time...'

'Stiles... don't say that. I'm gonna find a way. I'm going right now!'

With that Scott ran away. 'Finally.' Void sighted. He started the car and drove back to Theo's house.

'Keylee!?'

Keylee ran confused from the kitchen to him. 'What? What happened?'

'Hell hound.' Void grumbled. 'We need to talk, but we also need to go to the hospital. It's complicated but we have to wait for Scott there. I talked to him like I was Stiles. He'll try to fight Theo and say to you that Theo is the bad guy. Just, just act like you believe him alright?'

'I don't wanna see him.'

'Please, Keylee, please. I said I'd wait for him at the hospital to save the sheriff. I- I really don't wanna leave you here alone.'

Keylee sighted. 'Fine... but what is going on with the sheriff?'

Void didn't answer and just pulled her to the car. He would explain everything on their way to the hospital.

'So... you are telling me that the sheriff was poisoned by another chimera, and that Scott is trying to figure it out. You pretended to be Stiles and he believed you... And now you want me to be nice! Void! You have any idea how he acted towards me!? I don't even wanna see him, I just wanna forget him. I have you and Theo right? Why would I want anything to do with him!?'

'Because... you can trick him now, just pretend, alright? Just stick with the plan and take revenge.'

Keylee shook her head as Void parked the car in front of the hospital.

'I'm not like that Void, I'm not like you. I don't want revenge, I just want to let it go...'

Keylee stared down at her shoes. Void gently took her hand. 'I know Kitten, but, please... Can you do this for me? We only have to act for a while... after that we can leave, I promise. Besides, maybe you won't see anyone.'

Keylee sighted. 'Okay, but promise me, if you'll ever plan to go you take me with you.'

Void smirked. 'I won't leave you again, I'll protect you. I'll take you with me wherever I go, I promise.'

Perhaps it was a bad thing to trust a fox again. But in this case, it might be alright. For once, Void didn't think of a way to trick her. For once he was planning on keeping his promise. It was his plan for a long time now after all.

They both stepped out of the car. 'So, you know what you are gonna do

'Look sad, look broken, look like Theo is the bad guy and like you, Stiles, convinced me it was all a trick if I meet anyone.'

'Exactly. Let's go.'

Actually, it was kinda funny how Void had told her the truth before. Normally it's the fox who lies everything together, now it was the chimera. For once the fox revealed the truth. Not that anyone believed him, but still...

They both walked inside the hospital and went straight to the sheriff's room. Keylee was shocked when she saw him. He looked bad. He really looked like he was dying.

'Hey.' Void softly nudged her arm. 'You wanna try something?'

'Try what?'

'I want you to try communicate with him.'

Keylee looked at Void in utter shock. 'You want me.... to communicate with him? Like, have a conversation with the man who is so much dying he can't talk?'

Void rolled his eyes. 'No, I want you to have a conversation with the spirit of the man who's so much dying he can't talk.'

'Right...'

Keylee still stared at Void like he was crazy. 'Oh my- just do it alright? You can do it, technically.'

Void took Keylee at both her shoulders and brought her closer to the dying sheriff. Keylee moved a bit uncomfortable with her feet. 'I'm not sure this is a good idea. This is sheriff Stilinski. Like, Stiles dad. Like, the man who's more like a dad to me than my own dad.'

Void looked at Keylee from the corner of his eyes and frowned. 'Then... why aren't you sad? I mean, if he's like your dad and dying-'

'He's not dying! They are gonna safe him.'

Void turned towards Keylee and looked at her. She had crossed her arms stubbornly and looked up at him like he shouldn't dare to try and say anything else.

'Alright, I get it now. You are in denial. If you can talk to him he's really dying. Is this also why you didn't want to get in here? You were afraid you would see him with your cat eyes.'

Keylee blinked a few times. 'No. I just... Maybe. I mean. I didn't lie, I really don't wanna see Scott. But I also don't want to see him dying. What if, what if we're the last ones to see him alive, if you can call this alive. I don't wanna be the last one to speak to him.'

Keylee suddenly felt two strong arms embrace her. 'W-what if I lose him. W-what if, if I lose my dad. I can't loose him Keylee. I just can't, I'd rather let Void take over a million times.'

Keylee froze and her eyes widened. 'Stiles?'

'Yeah. I- Keylee, what if I lose him? What if I'll never get the chance to- what if I can never tell him it was me who killed Donovan. He'll die in a lie Keylee...'

'No. no Stiles. We- I- I'll tell him alright? If he'll die I'll tell him.'

She was gonna regret it. She was sure of it. But Stiles looked so sad. And for a moment, Keylee felt extremely guilty for tricking him into bringing Void back. But something was wrong. Void wasn't someone to just... let Stiles back in. It wouldn't make sense. Was he just tricking her?

'Stiles?'

'Yeah?'

'How are YOU talking to me instead of Void?'
