Chapter 122 - Luck or Fate?
With the slaver gone, a quivering sigh of relief escapes Kaito's lips as he removes the cloth bag over his head, carefully revealing his handsome but tense face. His eyes blink, slowly adjusting to the dimness of the gloomy dungeon. The dim light from the hanging lanterns highlights the stone walls, which are damp and moldy from being frequently wet with blood.
The air is stuffy, and as Kaito's eyes adjust more, he begins to make out the figures around him in the other cells.
In one of the cells parallel to his, an old man is chained up, with disheveled hair and empty eyes that seem to have seen countless tragedies. In another, a young woman is cowering, holding a small child who looks frightened and confused, both with dirty hair, and the most shocking thing for Kaito is to see in the young woman's eyes that she is on the verge of madness.
