Cafe and Coffee

My phone is ringing as I wait at the zebra crossing.

"Hello, yes I am near the cafe right now. I am at the crossing. You already called me 5 minutes ago."

Before Aoi asks me, I already tell her that I am near the cafe because she just called me 5 minutes ago, asking me where I am or I got lost on the way. Honestly, I know how to read a map and besides I already know the neighborhood around this area.

"Ah no, it is not like that. You could not believe who just came in and sitting right in front of me right now." Aoi sounds so excited as she tells me to hurry up.

"Who just came in?" I ask while I am crossing the road.

"Miss Sae, that popular prosecutor that we met at the hospital. She noticed me immediately after walking into the cafe and right now in front of me. She also asked about you and I told her that I am meeting you right now so... She wanted to meet you too."

"W-what? Does she live around this area? Does her friend here also?"

{What with this coincidence happening to me right now}

I stop walking for a while after hearing that the prosecutor, Sae-san is there.

"No, her friend is resting at her home. She said that Amy-san is doing okay as she checked on her every day. She is right now curious about you as she has not heard anything from you. Have you not messaged her or updated her that you are doing okay?"

I did not. I totally forgot about her. Her card is on my desk though.

"N-no... I forgot." I tell Aoi as I am right in front of the cafe. As I started to think about what kind of excuses to tell Sae-san, I heard Aoi talking to her.

"Akira said that he forgot to contact you, Sae-san... His number? Ah, thank you for the card. Yes, I will give you the number. Just one sec. Akira, I have to hang up now so get here quick."

She immediately ends the call as I wanted to tell her that I am right in front of the cafe.

I walk straight into the cafe and see how sleek and modern the interior of the new cafe. I then saw Aoi with a woman in a black long sleeve sweater with jeans. A total contrast of fashion from how I first met her. Aoi is there in her usual cute outfit as she is raising her hand to call me. I walk to their table to meet up with them.

"H-hello Aoi and Sae-san."

Sae-san looks at me and I cannot read her face. Aoi's face looks very happy though.

"Akira-kun, how have you been. You have not even contacted me to let me know how you are doing. Amy is also curious whether you are okay or not. You do know that getting stabbed is a huge deal and not something that you can ignore, you know."

Aoi also started to lecture me, "Yes, I agree with Sae-san. You just sent me a message 'I am okay.' and nothing. I am very concerned you know that. I asked your mother and she tells me that you are doing okay but you not talking much and just resting in your room."

I am getting lectured my ears off by these two women. I am not the type to share my feelings or how am I doing if I have any problems that are why I do not what to update her. I am doing okay though after I went home and rest for two days. I just do not want to talk about how reckless I am that night and powerless I am.

"Yeah, I just feel tired and forgot about things during my rest. Sorry, both of you."

Aoi and Sae look at each other and tell me to sit down. Sae gives me the cafe's menu and tells me to order something.

As I look at the menu, Sae starts talking.

"Aoi and I are chatting before you come here and she told me that you guys are high school graduates now. Aoi wanted to become a prosecutor like her father and she wanted to go to the university that I also went to a few years ago. What a small world since I met with your father a few times you know."

Aoi's eyes started shining as she looks at Sae like she is her idol. From my years of friendship with her, I know that she really loves to look up to this type of career woman and wanted to become one. She finally finds her 'onee-sama' that she always dreamed of.

"What about you? I heard that you are still thinking about what would you want to do. How about you join the same university as Aoi? I can give my recommendation to the Dean for both of you even though I think that you can get in easily with your skills and achievements. I didn't know a top student like Akira is willing to risk his life to save people." Sae smiled and started to tease me.

"He makes himself seem like he is anti-social or did not care about people during our time at high school but he is really kind-hearted and helpful. He also helps the...", Aoi started to talk about me to Sae and I started to think about my future. Maybe I will pursue to get a law degree too? Fighting the injustice, criminals and helping to uphold the law.

"I think I will join Aoi's university. It is also easy to go back and forth from my house using the train." I tell them my plans and both of them stop talking to each other and look at me.

"W-what? why do you guys look at me like that?"

"YOU WANTED TO GO TO THE SAME UNIVERSITY?! FINALLY! YES!!" Aoi screams happily as she jumps from her chair.

"Then I will write my recommendation and talk to my contacts at the university." Sae opens her smartphone and writes something. I saw her writing an email and sent it to someone.

The conversation continues between Aoi and Sae after I make my decision to pursue my studies at the same university as Aoi, I thought to myself.
