Cecilia and Terri walked slowly back to the library. They wanted to take their time and give Lady Gayle enough time to send Beatrice away. Cecilia had not seen Beatrice since she snatched her off Jonathon. Of course, she knew that Beatrice was still angry about it by the way she looked at her when she entered the library.
“It’s going to be okay. Lady Gayle won’t let her touch you,” Terri said to comfort her.
“But what about when I am not around Lady Gayle? Now that she knows I spend time with her in the library, she’ll probably try to corner me when we leave,” Cecilia replied.
“Lady Gayle is going to make that tincture…”
“Terri, Beatrice would tell if I had that on me, and then I will be in the dungeon or worse,” Cecilia said, interrupting her. “It’s just an all-around bad situation.”
Terri didn’t respond. She understood where Cecilia was coming from. It would be better if there were another way for them to be able to defend themselves.
