Evening party(part two)

Nathan was uncomfortable as Bernardo introduced him to his acquaintances. He didn't need such things. He was just an ordinary employee, so why was Bernardo making it into a big deal?

“He's the future, I trust him,” Bernardo said with a smile while his friends clicked champagne glasses with Nathan. Of course, Nathan was more than confident. He was not going to fail Bernardo since he trusted him so much.

“I heard a lot about the young man…how he managed to help lady Laura, it's truly an honor to meet you,” one of the men said to Nathan, Bernardo introduced him as a casino man. He was into the casino business. Nathan guessed as much. Such men were shrewd when it came to business. They knew how to keep their money.

“How about you pass by my office, so we can talk about a few things or two… I would like to see the potential of this young,” an elderly one said, this one was into the wine business. He was old with white hair and wrinkles. But he was still energetic. One could tell from a distance that the man has had enough share of the world.

“I'll be glad to…rest assured,” Nathan said for the first time and the three men including Bernardo laughed.

“He's a clever one…it's always nice to meet such dedicated men…” the conversation went on and on, and Nathan was enjoying what was happening. The party was lively. He managed to meet several important men in the business world. Some were men he had heard about and others were just normal men.

“Mom, I don't think so,” Laura said shyly when Claire didn't stop praising her. Nathan was standing beside Nathan while they talked over champagne.

“It's truly great, lady Laura…please forgive me for stealing Nathan from you,” Bernardo said to Laura apologetically. Laura could only laugh and nod.

“No problem, I'm sure you need him more than I do,” she added, and the four laughed in amusement.

“Okay, so you two enjoy the rest of your evening… Claire and I have guests to entertain,” just like that Bernardo took Claire's hand and walked away disappearing into the crowd.

“So…” Nathan started and took Laura's hand. She smiled and placed the champagne glass on the table, and Nathan did the same.

“Those two… I sense something fishy,” Laura muttered as her gaze travelled to Bernardo and Claire talking to some men. Of course, she knew Bernardo and Claire had some history together and the product was Nathan.

“Whatever it is, I want it to stop,” Nathan said with a frown, he had noticed it, and he didn't want Whatever was brewing between Bernardo and his mom to continue.

“Nate, but…”

“I don't more drama, especially when…she's married to him,” Nathan cut her off, knowing Larissa was Bernardo's wife. He knew his mom, she was responsible. She wouldn't involve herself in something like being with Bernardo.

“I see,” Laura muttered, and both went silent. It was going to be difficult to convince Nathan about Bernardo. Laura was worried. While Laura was with Nathan, Larissa managed to get Bernardo alone.

“Do you even remember I exist?” Larissa said with a frown and dragged Bernardo to the dance floor. Bernardo smiled faintly. The music played, and some people swarmed the dance floor.

“You are my wife,” Bernardo said while they danced, Larissa didn't believe him, especially when he was treating her with so much hostility.

“I don't like how distant you are…at least,” Larissa started but stopped when Bernardo's phone started ringing.

"Excuse me," Bernardo said. To her shock, the man left her arms right away, leaving her all alone. It was embarrassing to be ignored. Larissa's anger flared up. Especially when she glanced to the right side of the dance floor and found Laura dancing with Nathan. She was smiling happily.

“Stepmom, why are you so angry” Dean came from behind and asked Larissa standing at the bar counter gulping down shots of tequila. It was obvious she was having a bad night.

“Do you mind…you are so useless,” Larissa spat out bitterly and continued gulping down the bitter liquid. She needed something to calm her mind.

“I'm not useless, it's you…just look at yourself,” Dean said coldly, inky to receive a death glare from Larissa. Of course, she had everything under control. Either way, she was going to make sure she ruined someone.

“Let's see how this goes,” Larissa said and walked up to the waiter taking some drinks to Claire.

Nathan and Laura left the dance floor r. Laura went to the restroom to fix her make-up while Nathan walked to the bar side to get a drink. Everything was okay until he found Dean. Of course, some bad blood between them.

“I'm just wondering why a peasant is being given so much face,” the dean said without even looking at Dean.

“Wouldn't it worry you that he chose an outsider over you,” Nathan countered back and sat down? A dark expression appeared knew Dean's face.

“Don't get cocky, you know nothing about me…so keep your mouth shut!” Dean growled, almost starting a fight with Nathan. The two men stood face to face, both ready to hit each other.

“You are nothing but a pathetic street dog who doesn't even deserve to lick my shoes!” Dean growled and tried to reach for Nathan's neck, but Nathan held his hand before he could touch me. Anger flashed in Nathan's eyes as he squared up Dean. Both men were heavy with rage.

“Don't underestimate yourself… I won't do a thing for now,” Nathan said and shoved dean's hand away and prepared to walk away when Dean's next words made Nathan come to a halt. Nathan slowly turned around, anger flashing in his eyes.

“Say that again, fucker!” Nathan made a low growl which got some people's attention. By now a crowd had formed around them.

“Aren't you ashamed, or is it some old pussy you wanted,” Dean said again, but this time he received a deadly blow from Nathan which sent him stumbling backwards and landing heavily on the floor.

“Insult my wife again, and you die!” Nathan growled and grabbed Dean by the shirt and pulled him up. Dean had a bloody nose as he tried to adjust his eyes.

“Fucker!” Dean said, only for Nathan to punch him in the face over and over again. People started screaming as Nathan continued to hit Dean.

“Stop it, Nathan!” Laura and Claire managed to get to Nathan, but they couldn't stop him from hitting Dean who was almost lifeless.
