Her Little Sanctuary
"Ah, I don't think this is right," Bella said, gripping Ashton's arm. "Please ask Daniel to involve the police in this. I'm worried. What if something happens to you?"
"Nothing will happen," Ashton reassured her. "If what she wants is the money I promised her before, I'll just give it to her. So don't worry too much."
"Should I follow both of you?" Bella asked, her reluctance evident. She didn't want to let him go.
"No, just stay here with our son. I'll come back. It won't take long. I promise." He gently brushed her hair back, trying to soothe her fears.
Bella looked into his eyes, searching for certainty. "You have to be careful, Ashton. I can't lose you, too."
"I know," he replied, his voice firm. "But I need you to trust me. I'll handle this."
