Chapter 1

May 28th, 1982

Tommy Tutone 867-5309/ Jenny song was blasting as the 1981 Porsche 911 sped down the lonely road, heading deep into the Dark Moon mountains. A three thousand miles area of land with massive mountain ranges and enormous peaks reserved only for supernatural beings.

*Radio broadcast comes on during the song*

Good evening listeners we have been asked to announce that in anticipation of tonight's meteor shower, we have confirmation from the Space Research Centre, for the past two days, that there was a  failed attempt to blast the asteroid to reduce the size earlier today. We now have an asteroid size of twenty meters  headed directly to earth, schedule to hit the more northern region of Acadia, affecting areas close to the Dark Moon Mountains at around nine o' clock tonight. We are asking everyone to please stay indoors and not venture outside as we are unsure how the blast may affect us. Thank you and may God help us all to overcome this disaster. The commentator said and continued the song.

Fuck, fuck! Kyle shouted and accelerated on the pedals of the black coupe making it fly along the stretch of road as he sped towards the Dark Moon clan to warn his Alpha and their pack about the impending danger.

Kyle knew that the Alpha, his father, had no outside communication and would not know about the asteroid headed directly at them. For years Kyle had pleaded with him to get a telephone so at least they could communicate regularly, however medically, his Alpha was a luddite and suffered from metathesiophobia but as Kyle would simply put it, his father had a fear of change.

As  Kyle continued to speed down the road he remembered some of the heated arguments that took place between his father and himself for this very topic. That was one of the major reasons he decided to leave the settlement for a far off college rather than attend one closer to home like his younger brother and sister. It seemed he and his father always knocked heads, so for many years now he decided to keep his distance from him. Five minutes later, Kyle became extremely relieved when the saw the massive gates just ahead as he began honking his horn to get the attention of the security in the booth.

As soon as he pulled inside the gate, he waited for the bar to raise but it didn't. Kyle then saw Joe coming out the booth and was headed to his car. Straight away Kyle sent down his heavily tinted windows and called out to him. Instantly Joe began smiling broadly as he went back inside the booth and lifted the bar and came back out to greet Kyle.

I should have guessed it was you when I  heard the loud blasting of music and saw the speeding of the car Kyle. New one? Joe asked and laughed

 Yes Joe, been working part-time for quite a while and attending classes but it paid off man. She's a beauty! Kyle answered

 She sure does look like it! Joe said as he touched the sides of his door and walked around the car admiring it as he got a better look.

So how are you Joe? Is the Alpha there by the way? Kyle asked incase his father went to visit his neighboring Alpha friends.

 I'm doing good Kyle, well as good as can be that is! Yes, your father is inside the compound but I assume he didn't know you were coming otherwise Giles would have called to inform us, does he? Joe replied

 No this is actually a last minute visit. It actually concerns the news about tonight's meteor shower! Joe there's going to be a huge asteriod impact at nine tonight within the Dark Moon Mountains and surroundings. Kyle said nervously

What? An asteroid impact? Fuck, my son went to Twin Peaks to look at the meteor shower! If I'm not mistaken, I saw your siblings leave the compound also and headed for up there, Kyle! Joe said

Dammit, I have to go Joe! We'll catch up better soon. Take care and try and send a message to your family to prepare okay. They say that this will be a big one! Kyle said and drove off, speeding down the long driveway leading up to the large settlement and the huge main house.

Kyle came to an abrupt stop just outside his father's house and ran towards the doorway. He rang the bell several times since he forgot to walk with his keys. Minutes later, a tall, robust, black werewolf opened the door.

Master Kyle what a surprise. We weren't expecting you home from college for another month. I'm sure your parents would be happy to see you! The Alpha's beta, Giles, said as he opened the door and saw Kyle looking worried.

Giles have you or father heard the news about the large asteroid headed for the mountains tonight? Kyle asked hurriedly as he walked through the door that Giles had left opened for him.

No Kyle! What asteroid? What are you talking about? I thought you mentioned that it was going to be a meteor shower? Giles asked as he began to briskly walk towards the Alpha with Kyle following him.

I pleaded with you and father moons ago that you should invest in a television or radio Giles, if not a telephone. You're his advisor and he listens to you, now look what has happened! Had it been here you all would have known about the asteroid days ago and could have had ample time to prepare! Kyle said with an annoyed tone.

Kyle you know how the Alpha feels about technology and the outside world.  There is only so much I can get him to listen too! Giles answered

Fuck sake Giles even a radio would have been great! Hell, you should have asked mom to speak to him about it since he considers what she says seriously! Kyle said as he continued on with his complaining.

Giles did not bother answering Kyle, sensing he was upset and needed someone to vent to. Instead  he hurriedly took Kyle through the house to the Alpha. He opened the doors to the dining area where Kyle's parents sat eating dinner and lead Kyle in.

Kyle my son, what are you doing here? It's so lovely to see you my baby! Kyle's mom, Jean, said as she quickly got up to briskly walked to hug him.

What is wrong Kyle? You weren't expected back here for several weeks! Tell me what trouble are you in now? Czar asked seeing the worrisome look on his son's face.

Alpha, mum we have to warn the entire clan. There is a huge asteroid headed for the mountains in exactly two hours from now! Kyle said while he finished hugging his mother and bowing to his father.

What? I thought you said it was going to be a meteor shower the last time we spoke? the Alpha said frantically as he got up and began to pace.

Dad, that was several weeks ago and Space Research Centre tried to blast it several times but was unsuccessful in reducing the size so its headed for the surrounding mountains. They say the size is estimated at twenty meters. Kyle replied

What? Oh my goodness Czar, what will we do? Jean asked worriedly.

 Alert the clan with the bell Giles while I go to the elders and inform them first about the asteriod! Immediately after we'll have to go and address the pack. You may also have to drive to the neighboring packs and alert them since they all must not know, seeing none of them visited or sent a message with one of their pack members to me. Common let's get going, we have no time to waste! Czar said hastily as he began walking with everyone out the dining room and headed towards the elders facilities.

 My goodness, what about Lizzy and Karl, my love? They left with several of their friends to watch the meteor shower on Twin peak some hours ago? I'm trying to reach them through mindlink but I'm not getting a response! Kyle's mother, Jean, said agitated

 What? You allowed both of them the leave the pack to go with their friends? Why wasn't I extended those same privileges? I gather I was the black wolf in the family!

No pun intended Giles, just a figure of speech! Karl said apologetically to Giles.

Imagine I had to literally sneak out to meet my friends some years ago and now you have Lizzy and Karl just going off to hang with friends! Kyle complained after hearing the news from his mother.

Kyle now is not the time for these unnecessary tantrums. Besides, need I remind you of how wild and reckless you were as a teenager! Lizzy and Karl is nothing like how you were and still possibly are! I can close my eyes and let them leave and know they'll do the right thing always and get back safely to the pack! Kyle father said in his authoritative tone.

Are you referring to the wrecked cars in particular when you say that father? Because most of those vehicles had faulty parts! Don't blame me for those small hiccups! Kyle said

Enough Kyle! They were all new cars! Anyway I can't talk about this right now when there's urgent matters to deal with! Alpha Czar said as he walked into the elders facilities.

Yes father, I'm sorry! Karl apologized quickly as he recognized the stern tone from his father.

Kyle go get your brother and sister and bring them back to the pack. And let the rest of werewolves at Twin Peak know about the asteroid and that they are to return to their packs immediately! Jean said as she followed her mate.

Before Kyle's mother could finish the sentence, Kyle was already out the door and heading towards the Ford Mustang 1979 GT instead of the Porsche. As he jumped inside the car and started it he instantly smiled, the loud purring of the engine made him feel thankful that he had won the debate and that his father had given in to his wish about purchasing this car for him as a college present. Within seconds he was out of the garage and speeding down the winding private road headed towards Twin Peak which was half an hour away.

Several minutes after visiting the elders, Czar, Jean and Giles walked briskly towards the main hall where the rest of lycanthropes began to gather. The three waited impatiently as the rest of the pack began to slowly trickle in and gather. Alpha Czar seeing the time looked to Giles and instructed,

Giles leave and go to the neighboring packs and inform as many of them as you can! Take some of the pack member and let them assist you! But be sure and be back before the asteroid hits okay. I'll handle things here! the Alpha instructed.

Yes Alpha. I'll see how many I can alert! Giles said and he bowed, turned around and went to organize his pack.

Czar knew that after he informed the large congregation of werewolves  about the asteriod news that there would be chaos as everyone would be panicking. But being Alpha meant he had to keep calm and ensure that his pack members began to prepare for the impact since they only had a few hours left. As he walked on the stage to begin addressing the pack, his mind became uneasy about his children and he silently said a prayer for his ancestors to protect them.
