Chapter 66 -SpellForm-

CHAPTER 66 -SPELLFROM-

I levitated the spell which appeared to be the size of two small rocks. With both of my hands together to reassemble the spell after being destroyed when I first learned it only took one hand, I'm sure getting rusty for these things. I thought, letting a small laugh in my mind while coordinating the spell to my dominant hand.

I unfocused from the spell and looked at the Queen, then I spoke in a tone where I had to watch just in case so that the spell doesn't rampage in any second. "Queen Betty, this spell is called 'Clocking Vow', a contract between two parties which promise each other whatever there is. If one side of the party is done with the promise, the other side must be obliged to the other's request."

The mana that I was using as fuel was already about to be gone, I needed to end this soon. If I were to hold on to this spell for too long, my life force would be next. "However, if one side isn't obliged to the other's request, the denying party will have their soul extinguished into the abyss by OverDrive."

On my left hand, I had two fingers up signaling that I had said I would do two promises or requests that she needed or had. Come one, this is all I had. My cards are on the table now, waiting for your answer, this is worth the risk of dying.

But, I can't die now. I have something to do for this world, in this world.

"W-Why would you take this risk? Do you not value your life?" I could see how tears were being formed, unable to be contained by mere strength and were let go, sliding down her face as a stream of a raging river.

This isn't what I was expecting. A God, worried for my own life? What type of Bull–

My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden action the Queen had taken. The warmth I felt on my right hand made me subconsciously look towards it, I was speechless of such development of my own enemy.

'Pity!'

Shut it, fragment. You hold no power over me, and even if you did, you would be powerless against me!

"If your life will not be in danger if I accept this contract, then so be it. I, Betty Alexander, Queen and Goddess of the Angels will complete your request."

About time, I thought, cracking a victorious grin. "Then I, Sammael, The Angel Of Death will complete your request."

The two different colored clocks began to spin around us like a tornado that had been formed from the sky down. Streaks of gold and silver were scattered around, initiating the formation of the spell's progression. Clocking Vow started to suck up the mana I had left in my ring leaving me with nothing more but chunks of unused energy that could not ignite a phase or spellform. Seeing how the Queen suddenly reacted seconds later, she too had mana taken away from her.

However, if it took mana as well as Divine mana, the spell will strengthen the ability and will alter the rules.

Lets just hope that is not the case.

Then, the two looking stars of gold and silver came to a halt. Stopping instantly like time was frozen with Abeyance. Fusing together gold and silver clocks revealed a more astonishing sight, it was an electrum clock but bigger. Ten times the size of the other two clocks, it was even big enough to cover the other side of the room if we were to put it in the middle.

We waited a couple of minutes before getting up close to it. I tried touching it but instead I was shocked with blue lightning bolts.

Stingy, I see. Looking at it with provocative eyes, telling it that I could destroy it again like last time.

Instead, when the Queen touched it, no shocks of blue lightning bolts were towards her. The spell let her touch him but not me? You ungrateful little f–.

"Quite the spell, I see. Really interesting type of conjuring and conducting a new spellform." The Queen commented, admiring the spell that I had developed on the day I was held traitor for killing a clansman in front of the whole world.

Not the best way to develop a theory for a spell that was used for hundreds of unwilling people into slavery because of their arrogance. I'm not proud of what I did back then to gain what I have now, yet, I don't regret it and if there was another way to gain this power, I would've not been able to make the decisions I make now.

The person I am now, is not something I would change whether in the past or in the future, but I accept that I must change along with this new epoch that is coming soon.

Coming back to the moment, seeing as the Queen still had her hand on the spellform, I as well laid my hand and started the last form of the spell. Lack of mana was something I could do but Divine wasn't my specialty.

"Queen Betty, if you were so kind as to feed this spellform some of your Divine mana as I inject elemental mana simultaneously?" I asked, changing my tone as a new voice entered my mental barrier.

'You've destroyed me before. Why bring me back?'

The small little girl's voice said, emotionless as it has been.

Sensing the skeptical tone in her void voice, I racked up whatever I could to at least buy me some time. Well I felt bad for how I treated you in the past, so I've brought you back to enjoy the world.

The spellform stayed quiet, feeling her eyes burning into my head as it started to think the true reason for her system spellform amelioration.

'You are weird now–unlike before when you had the halo and the angel-like wings–your mana, the mana that this girl is watering me with is different from the one before where you had destroyed me with.'

…dammit, she noticed a little too fast. Preferably it would be better if she didn't notice the difference between the mana here and on Earth. Worry began to unstabilize my thoughts and mind to the point where I couldn't think straight. If the spellform were to understand the different world it's been conducted in, it would simply stop the spell and try to leave.

It is not something I want now. Sure I was going to show it the world as we passed on but now things have gotten complicated. I must answer, and something fast with reasonable justifications of my sudden change in appearance.

At the time, I even thought that my worries could transfer into the Clocking Vow through mana. Hopefully not, I thought with a wry smile.

Hiding my emotions didn't give the right feeling but it was the right choice for now, after all of this is done–my talk with CinderHell and my visit to Layla–I would like to see the Clocking Vow's true form.

You are right, I formed my words and sent those specific ones into the line that connected us both. But there is a reason for this, and I mean my appearance. You know how I was wanted? As a criminal and not a savior, well now I must hide my past and old habits just to live a life full of peace, like I would enunciate around when I had you at my side. Remember?

'Hm, you're right. You were wanted not by one nation but by all united nations alike, alive or dead, said the bounty which had sixty-billion as a reward. And of course, I remembered when you would be babbling about having a normal life in the countryside, deep in the mountains enjoying the scenery it provided.' The Clocking Vow said, having reminisced about the past time where late at night when I would go on solo expeditions, I would talk to it like a normal person. Until…

I heard the Vow's voice again, it was like it had accepted my words without much second thoughts. 'So you brought me back, for?' Her voice longed for the single word, telling me to go with it already.

So you knew?

'Who do you think I am? You developed the system that makes me me, but your emotions were leaked in there as well, so too little to no words, I'm kind of a bloodline of you.' Clocking Vow stated, angered and willingly able to hear my side of my story.

So you are like my daughter of some sorts?

I felt a long and awkward silence, a small set of audible words came through but still I was unable to make sense of it. 'S-S-Something l-like that…'

Sensing as the spell didn't say anything else, I still felt its emotion of embarrassment. Are you perhaps emba–

'SHUT UP!'

The embodiment of the loud insult made my ears ring long enough that even the Queen had some sort of the same problem.

Alright, alright, just help me with this contract as a witness. The rest I will deal with but your help will still be needed. Seeking that the Clocking Vow would listen to my abnormal request, seeing as it has never been on my side when I made contracts on Earth.

However, I was given a confirmation. The Divine mana that was being sucked by the Vow had stopped and so did the injection of the elemental mana.

The giant electrum clock flashed white, pulsating with a powerful wave of energy around it. Pulsing like a heartbeat in the distance, it started to get faster and more intense as the clock's pace increased. It almost seemed like the front of an airplane when it was about to start.

Something is wrong, I don't think this is how it was supposed to go. My mind tracing the past times I had used this spell and how it had gone through, and in none of those attempts did the Clocking Vow react like this.

Once again, the sense of urgency and worry entered my brain. Seeing as the pulsing got more aggressive than before, the light of white got stronger. Then it froze, the hands of the clock and the pulsing stopped. Nothing else was moving from the Clocking Vow, is what I had wished that had happened.

Instead, the minute hand of the clock moved to its right, signaling the time of one while the hour hand stood at twelve. The white light then exploded and flashed both the Queen and I like a flash bang in the dark of a tunnel.

An anger and startledness had built up inside my stomach that I let it out in my mind, more specifically through my connection between the Clocking Vow and I.

What the hell was that!? I lashed out, rubbing my eyes together with my hands trying to ease the burning pain of the bright light.

'That is for destroying me without telling me.' The spellform said, satisfied with what it has done as revenge for the past. 'Don't worry, you were the only one I hit hard with the flash. The girl didn't get it that bad, only a hint of tickling sensation.' Added the Vow.

"Sammael, are you okay?" I heard the Queen say with an unknown tone. Feeling her hands touch my shoulders trying to get me to stop moving around, but she didn't know that I had been flash banged for revenge of the past.

"Enough about me," my voice barely grew louder as I began to take more air into my lungs. With my eyes still closed tightly with force, I said, "the contract is sealed and our witness is the Clocking Vow, now it's your turn to do your part."
