Chapter 83: Escape III
"Is she any better?," he asked, twisting the knob in his hand to let the physician out.
"Her vitals seem to be stable, sir. But she hasn't regained her consciousness yet," the physician replied. He glanced back at the bed in which Elaine laid, unmoving. Mr Faylard mirrored his movement.
The girl laid unmoving on the bed they had kept her on. They had been sailing a day now to the capital, Calabran. And she had showed no signs of awakening still. He found it rather suspicious.
He glanced back to the physician, "Thank you. You will be back when the sun sets to check in on her?" To this, the physician replied with a curt nod, after which he turned and left the room.
Mr Faylard turned back to gaze at Elaine. For a moment, he only stared silently. And then, he moved. He was slow and intending with his steps, each one as calm as the next.
