Market place…
The Tardis lands in the middle of the busy area, not even trying to hide.
"Venice." The Doctor said.
"Venice." Maria said, her hand on her hip. "Not bad. It's safe."
They are looking at the view of the campanile of San Marco.
"Wait, is that the Basilica?" Shirabe asked, looking at the landmark across a very wide canal with moored gondolas in the foreground.
"Venezia. La Serenissima. Impossible city. Preposterous city. Founded by refugees running from Attila the Hun. It was just a collection of little wooden huts in the middle of the marsh, but became one of the most powerful cities in the world. Constantly being invaded, constantly flooding, constantly just beautiful. Ah, you got to love Venice. So many people did. Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Ooo, that reminds me. 1580. That's all right. Casanova doesn't get born for a hundred and forty five years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken." The Doctor said.
"You owe Casanova a chicken?" Kirika asked. "Why? Ooo, can I make a bet with him too?"
"No Kirika, you can't. It's a long story. Me and him. We had a bet." The Doctor said, and he is stopped by an official.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Papers, if you please. Proof of residency, current bill of medical inspection." The inspector said.
The Doctor holds up his psychic paper, "There you go, fellow. All to your satisfaction, I think you'll find."
"I am so sorry, Your Holiness. I didn't realise."
The Doctor blesses the man, "No worries. You were just doing your job. Sorry, what exactly is your job?"
"Checking for aliens. Visitors from foreign lands what might bring the plague with them."
"Oh, that's nice. See where the both of you bring me? The plague." Amy said, angrily.
"Don't worry, Viscountess. No, we're under quarantine here. No one comes in, no one goes out, and all because of the grace and wisdom of our patron, Signora Rosanna Calvierri." The inspector said.
"Wait, didn't the Black Death die out years ago?" Jared asked, eating some rice balls.
"Not out there. No, Signora Calvierri has seen it with her own eyes. Streets are piled high with bodies, she said." The inspector said.
"Did she now." The Doctor said.
Rory takes the psychic paper from the Inspector, who moves on to his next target.
"Oi." The inspector said.
"Er, according to this, I am your eunuch." Rory said.
"Oh yeah. I'll explain later." Amy said.
House of Calvierri entrance…
The iron gates swing open.
"Are those vampires?" Shirabe asked.
Girls in white dresses with white parasols and heavy veils on their heads walk out two by two.
"Maybe they're brides." Kirika said, smiling. "It's a possibility."
"Veils down, girls." A woman said.
"The Calvierri girls." A girl said, nearby.
The Doctor, the Ponds, Jared, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika are across the canal from the procession.
"This smells trouble." Maria said.
Guido runs up to the girls.
"What do you want?" The woman asked.
"Where's my Isabella?" Guido asked.
"What are you doing? Get away from there."
Guido lifts the girls veils until he finds his daughter, "Isabella? Isabella, it's me."
"Come on, he needs help!" Jared said, happily. "Don't transform. Not yet."
One of the girls knocks Guido down and bares her needle-teeth at him.
"Girls, come along." The woman said.
"She's gone." Francesco said.
"Isabella! It's me!" Guido said.
By the canal…
"What just happened?" Maria asked.
"Isabella!" Guido said.
The Doctor, Jared, Shirabe, and Kirika have vanished.
"I hate it when they do that." Amy said, sadly. "And Jared dragged Shirabe and Kirika into danger."
Alleyway…
"Who were those girls?" Shirabe asked.
"I thought everyone knew about the Calvierri school." Guido said.
"It's our first day here!" Kirika said, happily.
"It's okay." Jared said, smiling. "No need to worry."
"Parents do all sorts of things to get their children into good schools. They move house, they change religion. So why are you trying to get her out?" The Doctor asked.
"Something happens in there. Something magical, something evil. My own daughter didn't recognise me. And the girl who pushed me away, her face, like an animal." Guido said.
"I think it's time we met this Signora Calvierri."
"So, what's this adventure like?" Shirabe asked. "Is it safe?"
"Define safe." Jared said, walking behind Shirabe and Kirika.
"I mean, does someone get hurt?"
"Yes."
"Can we stop them?" Kirika asked.
"We will. Somehow. Can't remember how exactly." Jared said, smiling.
Jared tosses some water bottles for Shirabe and Kirika to drink during this weather.
Street..
Amy, Rory, and Maria are exploring.
"And what have you been doing?" Rory asked.
"Well, running, and fighting. I've been scared. More scared than I thought was…" Amy said.
"Did you miss me?"
"I knew I'd be coming back."
"They were right. It blots out everything else."
"Rory, this is our date. And Maria's family vacation with Shirabe and Kirika. Let's not do this. Not now."
"Huh. We are in Venice and it is 1580." Rory said.
"I know."
"I hope Shirabe and Kirika are safe." Maria said, frowning. "Jared's taking care of them. And he's jeopardy friendly."
Francesco watches them leave from a stairway.
"Flowers, signor?" A flower girl asked.
Francesco follows the flower girl around the corner, where she is waiting for him. Rory is about to take a photograph of Amy in front of a building with Maria looking over the couple, protecting them when they hear a scream.
"What was that?" Rory asked.
They run back in time to see Francesco with blood on his sharp teeth and the girl with two holes in her neck.
"That's a vampire." Maria said, her eyes widening. "A Vampire in Venice."
Francesco hisses, raises his cloak and leaves.
"She'll be okay. Where are you? Amy, Maria, come back!" Rory said, angrily.
Amy and Maria chase after Francesco but loses him when an alleyway opens straight onto the canal.
House of Calvierri entrance…
"You have my daughter. Isabella!" Guido said.
"No, you're not coming in. Just stop there. Look, we've told you." The guard said.
The distraction enables the Doctor, Jared, Shirabe, and Kirika to sneak past and round to the water gate and sonic their way in.
"You have my daughter. Isabella! I demand you let me see my daughter." Guido said.
"Go away." The guard said.
"Isabella, it's me. It's your father."
"We will arrest you."
"Isabella!"
"Give it up, will you. Move off."
(Jared's POV)
Cellar...
The Doctor, Shirabe, Kirika, and I go down a stone staircase to an area with a vaulted roof.
"Ooo, a cellar." I said, holding Shirabe's hand. "I wonder if there's wine."
There is an ornate mirror on one wall opposite 3 doors.
"Don't drink." Shirabe said. "You're not one for alcohol."
"Hello, handsome." The Doctor said, and as he adjusts his tie in the mirror, girls in white robes appear behind us.
"Doctor!" Kirika said, looking at the girls to see that they have no reflections. "The girls we saw earlier."
"Who are you?" The vampires asked.
"How are you doing that? I am loving it. You're like Houdini, only five slightly scary girls, and he was shorter. Will be shorter." The Doctor said.
"Doctor, you're rambling." Shirabe said.
"I'll ask you again, signors, signoras. Who are you?" The vampires asked.
"Why don't you check this out?" The Doctor asked, holding out an ID card with William Hartnell's photograph on it.
"Um, you gave the psychic paper to the Ponds." I said, while the vampire girls stared at it blankly.
The Doctor looks at it, "Library card. Of course, it's with. He's…"
"This is why Jared carries spares of stuff he likes." Shirabe said. "And why have we reforged our Relics now and again."
"Pale, creepy girls who don't like sunlight and can't be seen. Ha. Are you thinking what I think I'm thinking?" The Doctor asked.
"But the city." Kirika said, her eyes widening. "Why shut down the city? Unless…"
"Leave now, signors, signoras, or we shall call for the Steward, if you are lucky." The vampires said.
"Ooo." The Doctor said, and the vampire girls teeth turned into needles.
"Vampires!" Kirika said, happily.
"Vampires in Venice!" Shirabe said.
The vampire girls start to advance on the Doctor, Shirabe, Kirika, and I, hissing.
"Tell us the whole plan." The Doctor said. "One day that will work."
"Nah, that'll never work." I said, sadly. "It really won't."
"Listen, we would love to stay here. This whole thing. I'm thrilled. Oh, this is Christmas."
The Doctor, Shirabe, Kirika, and I run back up the stairs.
By the canal...
Night is falling.
"Doctor!" Amy said, excitedly. "Jared!"
"We just met some vampires." Kirika said.
"We just saw a vampire." Maria said.
The Doctor, Amy, Maria, Shirabe, Kirika, and I talk over each other.
"And there were creepy vampire girls and everything." I said, smiling. "I knew the entire time. But still. The Vampires of Venice! I love it."
"Vampires." Amy said.
"We think we just saw a vampire." Rory said.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, we know. Amy and Maria were just telling us." The Doctor said.
"Yeah, yeah. The Doctor, Jared, and the Zababies actually went to their house." Amy said.
"Oh. Right. Well." Rory said, annoyed.
"Okay, so we need to get back in there." I said, smirking. "I don't know. We'll figure something out. We always do."
"What?" Maria asked. "You're bringing Shirabe and Kirika back there. Wherever you were."
"How do we do that?" Kirika asked.
"Back in where?" Rory asked.
"Come and meet our new friend." Shirabe said. "He's nice. And he's helpful."
Guido's home...
A vellum map of Venice is laid on the table.
"As you saw, there's no clear way in. The House of Calvierri is like a fortress. But there's a tunnel underneath it, with a ladder and shaft that leads up into the house. I tried to get in once myself, but I hit a trapdoor." Guido said.
"You need someone on the inside." Maria said.
"No. No way, Maria." I said, crossing my arms. "What about Serena?"
"You don't even know the plan I had with Amy."
"Er, that we pretend you and Amy are applicants for the school to get the both of you inside, and tonight you come down and open the trapdoor to let us in." The Doctor said.
"Oh. So you do know what I planned with Maria." Amy said.
"Are you insane?" Rory asked.
"We don't have another option."
"Jared said no, Amy. Listen to him. He knows the risks of this adventure. He has the foreknowledge."
"There is another option." Guido said, pointing to the collection of barrels behind Rory and Kirika. "I work at the Arsenale. We build the warships for the navy."
The Doctor sniffs the barrels.
"And all of that is filled with gunpowder." I said, happily. "I love explosions. And I love how cool guns and weapons look too."
"Most people just nick stationery from where they work. Look, I have a thing about guns and huge quantities of explosive." The Doctor said. "Jared doesn't. Since he has a weapon fetish. I blame his love for Splatoon. And being around Ruby Rose."
"Hey! The weapons at Remnant are cool!" I said, angrily. "And mechs are cool too. Along with super suits."
"We're not using the Relics. No Igalima, Shul Shagana, or Airgetlám. Too risky. And no Aqours either."
"What do you suggest, then? We wait until they turn her into an animal?" Guido asked.
"Maria and I will be there three, four hours, tops." Amy said.
"Four hours is a good amount of time." Maria said.
"No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It can't keep happening like this. This is how they go. But I have to know. I can't have Jared knowing everything. We go together, say you're my daughters." The Doctor said.
"Maria, I hope you know what you're doing." I said, looking at the wielder of Airgetlám. "Are you one for stealth?"
"Have you seen me?" Maria asked.
"You're a motherly…"
"Asuna did it to see Kirito."
"So? That doesn't change the fact…"
"That I can handle it. I've dealt with worse." Maria said, calmly.
"Like losing Serena. I know. I know." I said, sadly.
"I mean, they've already seen the Doctor, Jared, Shirabe, and Kirika. You should do it." Amy said.
"Me?" Rory asked.
"Yeah. You can be my brother and Maria's brother."
"Why is the Doctor being your brother and Maria's brother weird, but with me, it's okay?"
"Actually, I thought you were her fiancé." Guido said.
"Yeah, that's not helping." Shirabe said. "You're making things a bit more complicated, Guido."
"This whole thing is mental. They're vampires, for God's sake." Rory said, angrily.
"We hope." Kirika said. "Vampires, we kill them with stakes and onions. Last time I heard. Let's use those!"
"So what if they're not vampires?" Shirabe asked.
"Makes you wonder what could be so bad it doesn't actually mind us thinking it's a vampire." The Doctor said.
(Open POV)
Throne room…
Rory, Amy, and Maria stand before Rosanna and Francesco, dressing in appropriate costume.
"So, basically, our parents are dead from getting the plague. I'm a gondola driver, so money's a bit tight, so having my sisters go to your school for special people would be brilliant. Cheers." Rory said.
"Have we met?" Francesco asked.
"I've just got one of those faces."
"I wasn't talking to you."
"They've got the same faces, which is because they're my sisters."
"Carlo, explain yourself. Why have you brought me this imbecile?" Rosanna asked.
Carlo is the Steward, "Signora, they have references from His Majesty the King of Sweden."
"What? Let me see."
Rory steps forward with the psychic paper whilst Francesco circles Amy and Maria.
"Stop looking at me." Maria said.
"Well, now I see what got my Steward so excited. What say you, Francesco? Do you like them?" Rosanna asked.
"Oh, I do, Mother. I do." Francesco said.
"Then we would be delighted to accept her. Say goodbye to your sisters."
Carlo hustles Rory away.
"Tell Uncle Doctor and Cousin Jared we'll see you both really soon, okay? I'll be fine. I've got Maria by my side." Amy said.
"Amy." Rory said.
Dormitory…
Carlo leads Amy and Maria up a stone staircase, past a lot of pale young women, into a room with several beds. It is underneath a large, ornately decorated dome.
"There are clothes on the bed. Get changed and wait here." Carlo said.
"Blimey. This is private education, then?" Amy asked.
"It does look like a boarding school." Maria said. "Maybe it's like Lydian. That school Hibiki and the others went too. But it looks more damp and gloomy."
Carlo leaves with all but one of the girls.
"Hey. Hello, I'm Amy. This is Maria. What's your name?" Amy asked.
"Isabella." Isabella said.
"Listen, we're going to get you out of here, but we need you to tell us what's going on."
"So, what is this place? What are they doing?" Maria asked.
"They er, they come at night. They gather around my bed, and they take me to a room with this green light and a chair with straps, as if for a surgeon." Isabella said.
"What happens in there?" Amy asked.
"I wake up here. And the sunlight burns my skin like candle wax."
"Yeah, that sounds like a vampire trait." Maria said, when a bell tolls. "Jared told me about the supernatural."
Gondola…
Guido poles a gondola along. He is wearing Rory's stag party t-shirt.
"They'll be fine." Jared said, smiling. "I know them. They'll make it out of this."
"You can promise me that, can you?" Rory asked.
"Yup. I can. I never break my promises. Most of the time."
"Most?"
"He meant all the time." Shirabe said.
"Yeah!" Kirika said, happily.
Amy and Maria are exploring the damp basement, not noticing a corpse.
"We're here." Guido said.
Tunnel…
"Right. Okay, I'll go first. If anything happens to me, go back…" The Doctor said.
"Right. I'll keep them safe. And so will, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika." Jared said, grabbing Shirabe's hand. "We're combat ready."
Jared then lets out a sigh thinking of Penny Polendina.
"Doctor, what happened, between you and Amy? You said she kissed you." Rory said.
"Now? You want to do this now?" The Doctor asked.
"I have a right to know. I'm getting married in four hundred and thirty years."
Amy and Maria find the cover of the trapdoor to the tunnel, and pull back the metal bolts.
"What could possibly go wrong?" Kirika asked.
They start to leave and walk into Carlo, dropping their candles.
"She was frightened. I was frightened. Jared was frightened. And Kaede was frightened. But we survived, you know, and the relief of it, and so Amy kissed me." The Doctor said.
"And you kissed her back." Rory said.
"No. I kissed her mouth."
"Funny."
"Rory. Rory, she kissed me because I was there. She was infatuated with me since she was a kid. According to Jared. And he was there too. It would have been you. It should have been you."
"Yeah, it should have been me." Rory said.
"Yup, that's why the Doctor and I brought you here!" Jared said, excitedly. "The Girl Who Waited and the Last Centurion. This is the start of it all."
A strong wind blows out their torch.
"Can we go and see the vampires now, please?" Kirika asked. "Death!"
Cellar…
"Control yourself, children." Carlo said.
"Take your hands off me!" Amy said, angrily.
"And me." Maria said.
The place is illuminated with green light.
"Psychic paper. Did you really think that would work on me?" Rosanna asked.
Courtyard…
The Doctor climbs up on Rory and out of the trapdoor, then pulls him up. Jared is standing outside with Shirabe and Kirika.
"Push. Come on. There we are. Amy. Where's Amy and Maria? Amy? Maria?" The Doctor asked.
"I don't know." Jared said, shrugging his shoulders.
"I can't see a thing. Just as well I brought this, then." Rory said, producing a tiny penlight.
The Doctor pulls out a small lightsaber, "Ultraviolet. Portable sunlight."
"Yours is bigger than mine." Rory said.
"Rory, not in front of the girls." Jared said, sadly.
"What does he mean by that?" Shirabe asked.
"In terms of bigger." Kirika said.
"Let's not go there." The Doctor said.
Cellar…
"Where are you from? Did you fall through the Chasm?" Rosanna asked.
"Mother this is pointless. Let's just start the process and…" Francesco said.
"Hold your tongue, Francesco. I need to know what these girls are doing in a world of savages with psychic paper. Who are you with? You see, I scarcely believe your idiot brother sent you two. What are the both of you doing in my school?"
The chairs are brought forward, and a drip bag is hung from a hook above it.
"Okay, I'll tell you. We're from Ofsted." Amy said.
"Put her in the chair." Rosanna said, laughing.
"No! Take your hands off me!" Amy said, angrily.
"And me." Maria said, annoyed.
The vampires set up bags of blood and fasten Amy and Maria into the chairs. Francesco holds Amy's head.
"Oh, make sport of me, will you? Tease me as if I were your dog? Well, this dog has a bite, girl." Rosanna said.
"Doctor!" Amy said.
Rosanna bites Amy's neck.
Courtyard…
"If we cancel now, we lose the deposit on the village hall. The salsa band. Oh." Rory said.
Kirika opens a nearby chest, "Corpses…"
"I'm sorry." Jared said, seeing that the empty chest contains desiccated vampires. "I'm so sorry."
"What happened to them?" Shirabe asked.
"They've had all the moisture taken out of them." The Doctor said, sadly.
Cellar…
"Mother, where you drink from them, may we share? I'm so thirsty." Francesco said.
"Of course, darling." Rosanna said.
Courtyard…
"That's what vampires do, right? They drink your blood and replace it with their own." Shirabe said.
"Yeah, except these people haven't just had their blood taken, but all the water in their entire bodies." The Doctor said.
"Why did they die? Why aren't they like the girls in the school?" Rory asked.
"Maybe not everyone survives the process."
"Doctor, you know what's dangerous about you? It's not that you make people take risks, it's that you make them want to impress you. Look at Jared, he wants to impress you. He always wanted to. You make it so they don't want to let you down. You have no idea how dangerous you make people to themselves when you're around."
"Who are you?" The vampires asked.
"Son of a…" Jared said, grabbing Shirabe's hand.
"What do we do?" Kirika asked.
Six girls have appeared.
The Doctor waves his UV light at them, "We should run. Run."
Cellar…
"This is how it works. First, we drink you until you're dry. Then we fill you with our blood. It rages through you like a fire, changing you, until one morning you awake and your humanity is a dream now faded." Rosanna said.
"Or the both of you die. That can happen." Francesco said.
"And if we survive?" Amy asked.
"Then there are ten thousand husbands waiting for you two in the water." Rosanna said.
"Yeah, sorry, I'm kind of engaged." Amy said, kicking out at Rosanna, damaging a device under her overskirt.
"And I'm a defender of the Earth in the future." Maria said, looking down at her Relic. "Seilien coffin Airgetlám tron."
The Symphogear armor went around Maria's body and she summoned her katana.
Rosanna briefly transforms into a bony vampire shrimp or lobster.
"Oh! Rory, Jared, Shirabe, and Kirika come on." The Doctor said, nearby.
Rosanna, Francesco and Carlo run out.
Corridor...
They block the Doctor and Jared's way.
"Cab for Amy Pond and Maria Cadenzavna Eve?" The Doctor asked.
Cellar…
Maria used her katana to free herself from her chair. And she went over to Isabella to help free Amy from her chair.
"She bit me." Amy said.
Corridor…
Vampires block the Doctor, Rory, Shirabe, Kirika, and Jared's retreat.
"This rescue plan. Not exactly watertight, is it?" Rosanna asked.
Kirika took out her Relic and held it out and she did her chant, "Zeios Igalima raizen tron."
The Symphogear armor went on Kirika's body and her scythe is in her hand. Jared looked over to see Shirabe wearing her Symphogear armor too.
The Doctor brandishes his UV light again, "Ah ha!"
"Don't mess with us, sweetheart." Jared said, smirking.
Isabella, Amy, and Maria run in.
"I see Shirabe and Kirika are safe." Maria said.
"Rory." Amy said.
"Amy." Rory said.
"Quickly, through here." Isabella said.
"Seal the house." Rosanna said.
Tunnel…
"They're not vampires." Maria said.
"What?" Shirabe asked.
"Maria and I saw them. We saw her." Amy said.
"They're not vampires, they're aliens." Maria said. "Which means they're as alien as Noise. That means we can tune our gears…"
"We can take them out!" Kirika said, excitedly.
"They only look human." Jared said, smiling.
The Doctor sonics the trapdoor hatch, "Classic."
"That's good news? What is wrong with you people?" Rory asked.
"Come on, Rory, Jared. Move." The Doctor said.
Francesco and the vampires catch up to them, but are held back by the UV light.
The Doctor sends the girls and Jared ahead of him, "Keep moving. Come on, guys."
Tunnel entrance...
"Right, it's daylight." Jared said, looking around.
Daylight, and church bells are ringing. Guido is still waiting with his gondola.
"Quickly, quickly. Get out. Quick. Quick." Isabella said, and she recoils as the sunlight touches her skin.
"Come on. To us! Run." Jared said, happily. "You can do it! I know you can!"
"I can't." Isabella said.
Isabella and the vampires shut the heavy door leading to the tunnel. The Doctor touches the metal on it, and gets an electric shock.
"Is he dead?" Amy asked, looking down at the Doctor.
"No, he's breathing." Rory said.
The Doctor jumped up off the ground and he looked at Jared, "Okay, you know the plan, right?"
"Yup. We'll confront Rosanna." Jared said, happily. "Ponds, Maria, Shirabe, Kirika, you guys go back with Guido to his house."
"What for?" Maria asked. "Don't you need us?"
"No. We won't be in any danger whatsoever."
"Okay." Amy said. "Be careful."
"No promises!" The Doctor said, running off with Jared.
(Jared's POV)
Throne room…
Rosanna enters alone. The Doctor is sitting on her throne. And I'm leaning against the wall.
"Long way from Saturnyne, aren't you, Sister of the Water?" The Doctor asked.
"No, let me guess. The owner of the psychic paper. Then I take it you're a refugee, like me?" Rosanna asked.
"I'll make you a deal. An answer for an answer. You're using a perception filter. It doesn't change your features, but manipulates the brainwaves of the person looking at you. But seeing one of you for the first time in, say, a mirror, the brain doesn't know what to fill the gap with, so leaves it blank, hence no reflection." The Doctor said.
"Which is what makes people believe you're a vampire. Along with the rest of your race." I said, sipping on some bubble tea. "Matcha. Just what I need at this hour."
"Your question?" Rosanna asked.
"Okay, well. Why can we see your big teeth?"
"Self preservation over rides the mirage. The subconscious perceives the threat and tries to alert the conscious brain." Rosanna said.
"Where's Isabella?" The Doctor asked.
"My turn. Doctor, where are you from?" Rosanna asked.
"Gallifrey."
"You should be in a museum. Or in a mausoleum. And Jared, where are you from?"
"A parallel universe. All this was a show on the television to me. A fairy tale. Basically." I said, shrugging my shoulders. "Why are you here? Is it for the same reasons as I remember? Or I hope I remember."
"We ran from the Silence. Why are the both of you here?" Rosanna asked.
"Wedding present. And a family vacation. The Silence?" The Doctor asked.
"There were cracks. Some were tiny. Some were as big as the sky. Through some we saw worlds and people, and through others we saw Silence and the end of all things. We fled to an ocean like ours, and the crack snapped shut behind us. Saturnyne was lost." Rosanna said.
"So, youre making Earth Saturnyne Mark Two." I said, crossing my arms. "That's your plan, huh. We can find another way."
"We could. Or we don't have to." Rosanna said. "And you can help me. We can build a new society here, as others have. What do you say?"
"Where's Isabella?"
"Isabella?"
"She was the girl who saved our friends. Don't tell me you killed her." I said, squeezing my cup of bubble tea.
"Oh, deserters must be executed. Any general will tell you that. I need an answer, Doctor, Jared. A partnership. Any which way you choose." Rosanna said.
"I don't think that's such a good idea, do you? I'm a Time Lord. And Jared's a human with lots of friends that does magic. He even does magic himself. You're a big fish. Think of the children." The Doctor said.
"Carlo? You're right. We're nothing alike. I will bend the heavens to save my race, while the both of you philosophise."
Carlo enters.
"This ends today. Jared and I will tear down the House of Calvierri, stone by stone." The Doctor said.
"For god's sake." I said, angrily. "Take your hands off us, Carlo!"
"And you know why? You didn't know Isabella's name. You didn't know Isabella's name."
"Open the gates." Carlo said, nearby.
The Doctor and I leave.
(Open POV)
Outside Guido's home…
"Well, that didn't work." Jared said, eating some jammie dodgers.
"Give me." The Doctor said, laying out his hand.
"Get your own, Spaceman. This is my own personal supply."
"Fine. If you don't want to lose your arcade room…"
"Want the whole package?" Jared asked, tossing the box of jammie dodgers to the Doctor. "Here you go."
Guido's home…
The Doctor checks Amy's puncture wounds with his sonic screwdriver, "You're fine. Open wide."
He pops a humbug into Amy's mouth. Guido and Rory have got their own clothes back. Jared is eating some ice cream sandwiches with Shirabe and Kirika. Maria is overlooking them from the corner.
"Girls, let the Doctor figure it out." Jared said, telepathically.
"Don't you already know too?" Maria asked, telepathically.
"I do. But he would want us to shut up. So, yeah."
"What's their plan?" Shirabe asked, telepathically.
"They're gonna do something crazy."
"What is it?" Kirika asked. "Does it involve Noise?"
"Nah. Just a massive amount of death. I don't know. But it's really stupid."
"Oh." Maria said, telepathically. "They're gonna do something crazy then. That could change the future."
"Ah. Her planet dies, so they flee through a crack in space and time and end up here. Then she closes off the city and, one by one, starts changing the people into creatures like her to start a new gene pool. Got it. But then what? They come from the sea. They can't survive for ever on land, so what's she going to do? Unless she's going to do something to the environment to make the city habitable. She said, I shall bend the heavens to save my race. Bend the heavens. Bend the heavens. She's going to sink Venice." The Doctor said.
"She's going to sink Venice?" Shirabe asked.
"And she's gonna repopulate it with the girls she's transformed." Jared said, sadly. "Like I said, girls. Really stupid!"
"You can't repopulate somewhere with just women. You need blokes." Rory said.
"She's got blokes." Amy said.
"Where are they?" Kirika asked.
"In the canal. She said to me and Maria, there are ten thousand husbands waiting in the water."
"Only the male offspring survived the journey here. She's got ten thousand children swimming around the canals, waiting for Mum to make them some compatible girlfriends." The Doctor said.
"Yuck! I've been around a bit, not as much as the Doctor. But nuh-uh! That's just, just, ew!" Jared said, annoyed.
Thump creak.
"The people upstairs are a bit loud." Shirabe said.
"There aren't any people upstairs." Guido said.
"Do you know, I knew you were going to say that. Did anyone else know he was going to say that?" The Doctor asked.
"Is it the vampires?" Rory asked.
"Like I said, they're not vampires. Fish from space." The Doctor said.
"Wow." Kirika said, as a window breaks. "They're trying to get in here."
"Thank you Captain Obvious." Shirabe said, and vampires gather the doors and windows. "We know."
"Aren't we on the second floor?" Maria asked.
"Yup." Jared said, happily. "We are."
The Doctor waves his UV light at the vampires, then uses his sonic screwdriver to reveal their true appearance.
"What's happened to them?" Guido asked.
"There's nothing left of them. They've been fully converted. Blimey, fish from space have never been so buxom. Okay, move." The Doctor said.
"Come on." Rory said.
Staircase…
"Give me the lamp." Guido said.
Outside Guido's home…
"Go, go, go, guys. Keep moving. Go, go, go." The Doctor said.
"Stay away from the door, Doctor, Jared." Guido said.
"No. Guido, what are you doing?" Jared asked. "Please don't tell me you're doing what I think you're doing."
Staircase...
Guido makes his way back to his apartment.
"We're not leaving you. What are you doing?" The Doctor asked, outside.
Outside Guido's home…
The sonic screwdriver is useless.
"Argh, bolted." The Doctor said. "And no, you're not punching your way in, Jared."
Staircase...
"Come on. That's it, keep coming. Come on." Guido said.
Outside Guido's home…
"Guido!" The Doctor and Jared said, at the same time.
Guido's home…
Guido picks up a lit candle and backs towards his collection of gunpowder barrels. The vampires move forward.
"Come on. Come on. Come on." Guido said, while the Doctor and Jared ran away, very fast. "We are Venetians!"
KaBOOM.
Outside Guido's home…
"Guido…" Shirabe said, sadly. "We have to do something."
"Why not save the Earth?" Jared asked. "We always do that."
Street...
The people are frightened.
"In sight of the Lord, protect and keep us." A man said.
Outside Guido's home…
"Rosanna's initiating the final phase." The Doctor said.
"We need to stop her. Come on." Shirabe said.
"Nope, get back to the TARDIS." Jared said, as Ebb and Flow in bow form appeared in his hand. "Amy, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika."
"You can't stop her on your own." Amy said.
"You really can't." Maria said.
"Try and do something else!" Kirika said.
"We don't discuss this. Jared and I tell you to do something, Amy, Symphogear, and you do it. Huh?" The Doctor asked.
Amy, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika storm off.
"Thank you." Rory said.
"You're welcome." Jared said, smirking. "Centurion."
By the canal...
Francesco opens the gates across from where Amy, Rory, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika are watching the sky.
"Oh my God, what is going on?" Amy asked.
"The sky, it's like it's boiling." Rory said.
"Venice, they're really trying to sync it." Shirabe said.
Francesco dives into the canal.
Throne room…
"Come on, Raggedy Man." Jared said, eating some custard filled donuts. "You got this. You're better at alien tech than I am."
The Doctor opens the back of the throne.
"You're too late. Such determination, just to save one city. Hard to believe it's the same man that let an entire race turn to cinders and ash. Now you and your friend can watch as my people take their new kingdom." Rosanna said.
"Oh those girls you turned into vampires. Well, they're dead." Jared said, frowning.
"You're lying."
"Shouldn't we be dead, hmm? Rosanna, please, help us. There are two hundred thousand people in this city." The Doctor said.
"So save them."
Alleyway…
Francesco confronts Rory, Amy, and the three Symphogear wielders.
Rory picks up two candlesticks and holds them out as a cross; "Amy, run with Symphogear."
"Why is he doing the sign of the cross?" Shirabe asked.
Francesco knocks the candlesticks out of Rory's hands and walks towards Amy, Shirabe, and Kirika.
"This way, you freak. No! This way, you big, stupid, great SpongeBob. The only thing I've seen uglier than you is your Mum." Rory said, angrily.
"Huh?" Francesco asked.
"No."
"Did you just say something about Mummy?"
Rory picks up a broomstick and jabs it towards Francesco, then waves it around.
Francesco draws his very real sword and does the same.
"Now that's unfair!" Maria said, hopping in to stop a very uneven fight. "Rory, stay back."
"Careful." Shirabe said. "Be careful."
"Okay, hit him. This way. bring him this way. Maria!" Amy said, as Maria is blocking Francesco's sword with her katana.
Maria manages to entangle Francesco in some washing hanging from a line.
"Oh. Oh, you stink of fish." Rory said, annoyed.
"Well, I'm hardly going to smell of cheese and biscuits." Francesco said.
"It's fish and chips." Kirika said, happily. "Now I want some!"
Rory backs away to where Amy had run, and trips. Francesco transforms into his true self and leaps on him.
"Hey, Mummy's boy!" Amy said, using her compact mirror to direct sunlight onto Francesco, who instantly burns and explodes, covering Rory and the three Symphogear wielders with soot.
"Oh." Rory said.
"That was lucky. Shirabe was right. Rory, why did you make the sign of the cross, you numpty?" Amy asked.
"Oh. Oh, right, I'm being reviewed now, am I?" Rory asked.
Amy gives Rory a passionate kiss, "Mmm. Now we go help the Doctor and Jared."
"Righty-ho."
House of Calvierri entrance…
"Open the gate!" Carlo said, dragging out a bag filled with gold objects.
"Sorry!" Shirabe said.
Amy, Rory, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika run inside.
"It's the Almighty. Look at the sky!" A man said.
Throne room…
"Get out. I need to stabilise the storm." The Doctor said.
"And I need to give him moral support." Jared said, happily.
"We're not leaving either of you." Rory said.
"Right, so one minute it's all you make people a danger to themselves, and the next it's we're not leaving you. But if one of you gets squashed or blown up or eaten, who gets the…" The Doctor said.
"Cake! Who gets the cake?" Jared asked, and the house shakes, knocking them off their feet. "Ooo, I want some cheesecake!"
"What was that?" Shirabe asked.
"Nothing. Bit of an earthquake." The Doctor said.
"An earthquake?" Amy asked.
"Manipulate the elements, it can trigger earthquakes. But don't worry about them."
"No?" Rory asked.
"No. Worry about the tidal waves caused by the earthquake. Right, Rosanna's throne is the control hub but she's locked the programme, so, tear out every single wire and circuit in the throne. Go crazy. Hit it with a stick, anything. We need it to shut down and re-route control to the secondary hub, which I'm guessing will also be the generator." The Doctor said.
Bell tower…
Which is in the bell tower, where the bells are rocking and ringing.
"You have got to be kidding me!" Jared said, looking at the Doctor. "The Wire any day?"
"Yeah." The Doctor said, as he looked back at Jared. "Let's do this together."
The Doctor and Jared start to climb up the outside to the big metal lightning conductor, with the help of the power cable.
"Yeah. So that's where we have to go." Jared said, smiling. "Oh, wait till the ice queen finds out about this."
Outside the House of Calvierri…
"There they are. Come on." Rory said.
"Stare…." Shirabe said, and Jared opens the brass ball to reveal clockwork.
"Come on." Maria said.
"Come on." Amy said.
The Doctor finds a tiny switch and stops the mechanism. Instantly the rain ceases, the clouds vanish and birds start singing again. The people cheer and applaud.
"You did it!" Rory said, excitedly.
Canalside...
Rosanna cannot turn her perception filter off now. She undresses quickly.
"Rosanna!" Jared said, eating some rice balls. "What are you doing?"
"One city to save an entire species. Was that so much to ask?" Rosanna asked.
"We told you, you can't go back in time and change it! Jared said, looking at Rosanna. "Please!"
"You mourn, but you live. I know, Rosanna. We did it." The Doctor said.
"Tell me, Doctor, Jared. Can your conscience carry the weight of another dead person and race? Remember us. Dream of us." Rosanna said, stepping off the plank into the water.
"Rosanna!" Jared said, when Rosanna's sons consume her. "Shit!"
"No! No!" The Doctor said, angrily.
Market place…
The Inspector gives the Doctor his deepest, most respectful bow.
"Now then, what about you two, eh? Next stop Leadworth Registry Office. Maybe I can give you away." The Doctor said.
"But first before we give them away, let's just drop Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika back home." Jared said, happily. "Right after we stop by the arcade, right?"
"Yes!" Kirika said, excitedly.
"Which arcade?" Shirabe asked.
"No." Maria said. "No arcades."
"Casino?" Jared asked.
"No. Rory wants to leave. Am I right?"
"Yeah." Rory said, sadly. "It's fine. Drop me back where you found me. I'll just say you've…"
"Stay. With us. Please. Just for a bit. I want you to stay." Amy said.
"Same. I need the Girl Who Waited and the Last Centurion together." Jared said, smiling. "This is where it all begins for me. And for you guys. Have Rory stay, okay?"
"Fine with me. If Jared wants Rory together with Amy then, you two will be together." The Doctor said.
"Yeah? Yes, I would like that." Rory said.
"Nice one. I will pop the kettle on. Hey, look at this. Got my spaceship, got my boys. My work here is done. Shirabe, Kirika, Maria. Want to help me out with the tea and cakes?" Amy asked.
"Sure." Shirabe said.
"Okay!" Kirika said, happily.
"Be careful with the measurements, you three." Maria said. "I'll step in if one of you mess up."
Amy, Maria, Shirabe, and Kirika goes into the Tardis.
"Er, we are not her boys." Rory said, angrily.
"Yeah, we are." The Doctor said.
"Yeah, we are." Rory said.
"We totally are her boys." Jared said, smirking. "And my girls are Team RWBY, Amy, and River."
Suddenly, Venice is empty of people.
"Rory, Jared, listen to that." The Doctor said.
"Er, what? All I can hear is silence." Rory said.
"There were cracks. Through some we saw Silence and the end of all things." Rosanna said, her voice in Jared's head.
