France 1890…
Night. It is raining. In a bedroom, an unappreciated artist is having a breakdown by his new painting of Still Life with Twelve Sunflowers, dedicated to Amy. His doctor is in attendance.
"Vincent, can you hear me? Please." Gachet said.
"It's not enough he goes drinking all round the town. Now the whole neighbourhood has to listen to his screaming." Vernet said.
"He's very ill, Madame Vernet."
Madame Vernet looks at another painting, which we do not get to see, "Look at this, even worse than his usual rubbish. What's it supposed to be?"
Cabinet War Rooms, London 1941…
Bracewell brings the picture to the Prime Minister, "It was found behind the wall, in an attic in France. It's genuine. It's a Van Gogh."
"Why bring it to me?" Churchill asked.
"Because it's obviously a message, and you can see who it's for." Bracewell said.
"Can't say I understand it."
"You're not supposed to understand it, Prime Minister. You're supposed to deliver it."
Stormcage Containment Facility 5145…
A guard answers a telephone, "Cell four two six. The Doctor and Jared? Do you mean Doctor Song?"
River goes to the bars of her cell, "Give me that. Seriously, just give it to me. I'm entitled to phone calls."
The guard gives her the telephone.
"Doctor? Jared?" River asked.
Cabinet War Rooms…
"No, and neither are you. Where are they?" Churchill asked.
"You're phoning the Time Vortex. It doesn't always work. But the Tardis is smart. She's re-routed the call. She usually does that when it comes to Jared's friends." River said, her voice over the phone.
Stormcage…
"Makes it so that it's mostly linear between them timeline wise. Talk quickly. This connection will last less than a minute." River said.
"Doctor Song. Are you finished with that?" The guard asked.
River returns the telephone with a smile, "You're new here, aren't you?"
"First day."
"Then I'm very sorry." River said, pulling the guard to the bars and kisses him.
Later, a group of armed guards run to the cell. The guard is inside, pointing his gun at something.
"Stay exactly where you are." Guard 2 said.
"She had the lipstick. The hallucinogenic lipstick. She tried to use it on me. Your tricks don't work in here, Doctor Song." The guard said.
He is pointing his gun at a stick drawing on the wall with the word 'Bye!' in a bubble.
The Royal Collection 5145...
Empty frames hang in the empty hallways. River finds the picture she is looking for and tears it out of its frame. She is halfway up a staircase when the lights come on.
"This is the Royal Collection, and I'm the bloody Queen. What are you doing here?" Liz asked.
"It's about the Doctor and Jared, Ma'am. You met them once, didn't you? I know they came here." River said.
"The Doctor and Jared?"
"They're in trouble. I need to find them."
"Then why are you stealing a painting?"
"Look at it. I need to find the Doctor and Jared, and I need to show them this."
The Maldovarium 5145…
River is at a nightclub table with a blue skinned man.
"Well now, word on the Belt is you're looking for time travel." Dorium said.
"Are you selling?" River asked.
Dorium snaps his fingers and an alien brings a box, "A vortex manipulator, fresh off the wrist of a handsome Time Agent."
He opens the box and sighs.
"I said off the wrist." Dorium said, and the alien takes the box away. "Not cheap, Doctor Song. Have you brought me a pretty toy?"
River takes off one of her earrings, "This is a Calisto Pulse. It can disarm micro-explosives from up to twenty feet."
"What kind of micro-explosives?" Dorium asked.
"The kind I just put in your wine." River said.
Tardis…
Amy is studying the engagement ring that she found in the Doctor's jacket pocket. Jared is listening to some Classical Pop music through a speaker with Madoka, Sayaka, and Kyoko.
"Vavoom!" The Doctor said, happily.
"Va-what?" Kyoko asked.
"I can't believe I've never thought of this before. It's genius. Right. Landed. Come on." The Doctor said.
"Where are we?" Madoka asked.
"Planet One. The oldest planet in the universe. And there's a cliff of pure diamond, and according to legend, on the cliff there's writing. Letters fifty feet high. A message from the dawn of time And no one knows what it says, because no one's ever translated it." The Doctor said.
"Till today. Because I've been wanting to see this for like forever now." Jared said, holding Madoka's hand. "It's not like I'm missing much at Remnant. It's been two to three weeks since I left them. I will come back to Team RWBY eventually."
"What happens today?" Amy asked.
"Us. The Tardis can translate anything. All we have to do is open the doors and read the very first words in recorded history." The Doctor said.
So they go outside and read - Hello Sweetie and my darling ΘΣ ΦΓΥΔζ.
"That sounds like River." Sayaka said.
"Vavoom." Amy said.
Salisbury Plain…
The Tardis materialises at the edge of a wood, on a hill.
"Is this the right place?" Kyoko asked.
"Just followed the co-ordinates on the cliff face. Earth. Britain. one oh two am. No, pm. No, AD." The Doctor said.
"Madoka, Sayaka, Kyoko, welcome to my favorite adventure." Jared said, smiling. "Well, one of my favorites."
They are looking down on a Roman camp.
"What does this adventure have?" Madoka asked. "Is there good food? Like snacks or something. A tea party?"
"I don't think so." Sayaka said. "I think that's a Roman Legion."
"Well, yeah. The Romans did invade Britain several times during this period." Kyoko said, her hand on her hip.
"Oh, I know. My favourite topic at school. Invasion of the hot Italians. Yeah, I did get marked down for the title." Amy said.
A soldier runs up and salutes.
"Hail, Caesar!" Claudio said.
"Hi." The Doctor said.
"Welcome to Britain. We are honoured by your presence."
"Well, you're only human. Arise, Roman person."
"Why does he think you're Caesar?" Madoka asked.
"That woman. River Song. Snide and seductive." Kyoko said. "The hell is she up to these days?"
Claudio has a smear of lipstick on his face, "Cleopatra will see you now."
Cleopatra's tent…
"Hello, sweetie, darling." River said, looking between the Doctor and Jared.
"River. Hi." Amy said.
"You graffitied the oldest cliff face in the universe." The Doctor said.
"Doctor, Jared, neither of you would answer your phones." River said.
River, what have you been doing?" Kyoko asked. "That had to be so stupid."
"Oh, y'know. Trying to get in contact with Jared." River said.
"Did you try telepathy?" Sayaka asked. "That usually works."
"Across all of time and space. Sayaka, dear, like that'll work."
"That's because it'll be lost through the time vortex, right?" Madoka asked.
River's slaves leave and she offers the Doctor and Jared the rolled up painting.
"What's that?" Jared asked. "It's not how I remembered it."
"Of course not, Jared. It's a painting. Your friend Vincent. One of his final works. He had visions, didn't he? I thought the both of you ought to know about this one." River said.
"Doctor? Jared? Doctor, Jared, what is this?" Amy asked.
It is a version of Starry Night, with an exploding Tardis in the middle and there's pink feathers and white ribbons around the exploding Tardis.
"It's the TARDIS." Madoka said, sadly.
The seven are galloping along on horseback.
"Why's it exploding?" Sayaka asked.
"I think it's a warning." Kyoko said, studying the painting.
"What, something's going to happen to the Tardis? And what's with the white ribbons and pink feathers?" Amy asked.
"It's a symbol." Jared said, taking pictures of the painting. "The feathers and the ribbons. For the Law of Cycles. Don't know how and why. But she managed to get through once. To this universe. Walpurgisnacht and Eve!"
"What about them?" Sayaka asked.
"Didn't you girls say you got a power boost when fighting Walpurgisnacht?"
"Yeah. So?" Kyoko asked.
"If that's supposed to be another me. Then why is my other self's symbolism there?" Madoka asked.
"I don't know. It can't be that. Literally." Jared said, crossing his arms. "Like, this is a bit different from what I remember."
"Anyway, this is where he wanted you two. Date and map reference on the door sign, see?" River asked, pointing to a part of the painting.
"Does it have a title?" The Doctor asked.
"The Pandorica Opens." River said.
Still galloping.
"Come on. Ya!" The Doctor said, on horseback.
"The Pandorica? What is it?" Amy asked.
"A box, a cage, a prison. It was built to contain the most feared things in all the universe." River said.
"And it's a fairy tale, a legend. It can't be real." The Doctor said.
"If it is real, it's here and it's opening, and it's got something to do with your Tardis exploding and with there still being remnants of the Law of Cycles after Walpurgisnacht. Hidden, obviously. Buried for centuries. You won't find it on a map."
"No, but if you buried the most dangerous things in the universe, you'd want to remember where you put it."
(Jared's POV)
Stonehenge…
We arrive and run inside the circle. The Doctor, River, and I start scanning the stones. I have the Augma headpiece on my head, with holographic screens on my face. Madoka, Sayaka, and Kyoko have their eyes closed, with the three scanning for possible Witches.
"Why isn't this thing new?" Kyoko asked.
"Because it's already old, Kyoko." I said, seeing the wavelengths of data appearing on a panel. "It has been here for like forever. Thousands of years. Maybe."
"Well, no one knows for how long." Sayaka said.
"Okay, this Pandorica thing. Last time we saw you, you warned us about it, after we climbed out of the Byzantium." Amy said.
"Spoilers." River said.
"No, but you told the Doctor and Jared you'd see them again when the Pandorica opens."
"Maybe I did, but I haven't yet. But I will have. Doctor, Jared, I'm picking up fry particles everywhere." River said.
"Some of these were energy weapons. Like the magic Magical Girls use. They were discharged on this tourist trap." I said, seeing the readings.
"That explains why the magic is so familiar to us. Who would do that?" Kyoko asked. "Magical Girl magic being here."
"If the Pandorica is here, it contains the mightiest warriors in history. Now, half the galaxy would want a piece of that. Maybe even fight over it. We need to get down there." The Doctor said.
"Are you okay?" Madoka asked, walking to me.
"Personally, no." I said, grabbing Madoka's hand. "This is it. What I've been running away from."
"What have you been running away from?" Kyoko asked.
"The Pandorica. I don't know if things will be as I remembered it." I said, squeezing Madoka's hand. "Dangerous things? How could it be more than one? It was supposed to be just one!"
"One what?" Sayaka asked, looking at me.
"One creature! Inside the Pandorica."
Night time.
River places a device on each corner of the Altar stone, "Right then. Ready."
There is a sound of machinery moving, then the Altar stone moves aside to reveal a staircase down into the ground.
"The Underhenge." The Doctor said.
As we go down, a nearby severed Cyberman head twitches.
Pandorica chamber…
The Doctor lights a handy torch with his sonic screwdriver. He lights another for River, I took out my phone with its flashlight out, and we unbar a big door, then enter.
"It's a Pandorica." The Doctor said.
"That's a really big box." Sayaka said.
It is a big square monument with a circular design on each face.
"Looks like it's more than just a fairy tale." Kyoko said.
The Doctor's foot touches a Cyberman's severed arm lying in the dust of the floor, "There were goblins, or tricksters, or warriors. Nameless, terrible things, soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared beings in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop them, or hold them, or reason with them. One day they would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world."
"How did it end up in there?" Madoka asked. "The creature inside the Pandorica? Underneath Stonehenge."
"You know fairy tales. Good wizards tricked them." The Doctor said.
"I hate good wizards in fairy tales. They always turn out to be the Doctor and Jared." River said. "Especially since Jared hangs out with fairy tales. Like Teams RWBY and JNR."
"So, it's kind of like Pandora's Box, then? Almost the same name." Amy said.
"Wait, Pandora's Box? That's a thing here?" I asked. "Still."
"Well, yeah. The story. Pandora's Box, with all the worst things in the world in it. That was my favourite book when I was a kid. What's wrong?" Amy asked.
"Amy. Your favourite school topic. Your favourite story. And Jared. This is your favorite adventure. You also brought one of your favorite groups with you. The Puella Magi Holy Quintet. Never ignore a coincidence, unless you're busy. In which case, always ignore a coincidence." The Doctor said.
"So can you open it?" Kyoko asked. "This devilish box."
"Easily. Anyone can break into a prison. But I'd rather know what I'm going to find first."
"You won't have long to wait. It's already opening. There are layers and layers of security protocols in there, and they're being disabled one by one. Like it's being unlocked from the inside." River said, scanning the Pandorica.
"How long have we got?" Sayaka asked.
"Hours at the most."
"What kind of security?" Kyoko asked.
"Everything. Deadlocks, time stops, latticework barriers, matter lines." River said.
"Seriously. Latticework barriers. My kind of magic. What could need all that security?"
"Kyoko, what could get past all that?" Madoka asked. "It should be impossible, right?"
"Well, girls, think of the fear that went into making this box." I said, kicking my foot back and forth. "What could inspire that level of fear? Even after me influencing this reality. More than some simple Witches or Grimm, I bet."
"Jared's right. When it comes to the Pandorica. Something is definitely off here. Hello, you. Have we met?" The Doctor asked, leaning against the Pandorica.
"So why would it start to open now?" River asked.
"No idea."
"Ahem, And how could Vincent have known about it? He won't even be born for centuries." Amy said.
"The stones. These stones are great big transmitters, broadcasting a warning to everyone, everywhere, to every time zone. The Pandorica is opening." The Doctor said.
"Doctor, everyone everywhere?" Madoka asked.
"Even poor Vincent heard it, in his dreams. But what's in there? What could justify all this?"
"Doctor, everyone? Like the Wings of Magius when they were still formed. And the Autoscorers and Alchemists."
"Anything that powerful, I'd know about it. Why don't I know?" The Doctor asked.
"Doctor, you said everyone could hear it. So who else is coming? Don't tell me it's trouble." Sayaka said
"Oh." I said, grabbing Madoka's hand. "Man, I am so slow today. How could I forget that?"
"Oh? Oh, what?" Amy asked.
"Okay. If it is basically a transmitter, we should be able to fold back the signal." River said.
"Doing it." The Doctor said, going around the bases of the Sarsen stones with his sonic screwdriver.
"Doing what?" Amy asked.
"Stonehenge is transmitting. It's been transmitting for a while, so who heard?" River asked.
"Okay, should be feeding back to you now. River, what's out there?" The Doctor asked.
"Give me a moment."
"River, got anything?" I asked, squeezing Madoka's hand.
"Around this planet there are at least ten thousand starships."
"At least? That's not a lot then." Kyoko said, her hand on her hip.
"Ten thousand, a hundred thousand, a million, I don't know. There's too many readings." River said.
"What kind of spaceships?" Sayaka asked.
"Maintaining orbit." A Dalek said, over the speaker.
"I obey. Shield cover compromised on ion sectors." Another Dalek said, over the speaker.
"Daleks. Those are Daleks." Amy said.
"What are Daleks?" Madoka asked.
"Pepper pots. With a plunger and a whisk. They invaded the Earth before. In the Spring of 2009. When Mami was still under the Wings of Magius influence." I said, sadly.
"Oh. I remember that." Sayaka said. "Mami didn't want to be with us fully. I think. At the time. Daleks weren't there though."
"Daleks, Doctor, Jared." River said.
"Launch preliminary armaments protocol." A Dalek said, over the speaker.
"Yes. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Dalek fleet, minimum twelve thousand battleships, armed to the teeth. Ah! But we've got surprise on our side. They'll never expect seven people to attack twelve thousand Dalek battleships." The Doctor said.
"You, dummy! That's a stupid surprise. And a short one too. We'd be killed instantly!" Kyoko said, angrily.
"You're right, Kyoko. Forget surprise."
"Course correction proceeding." A Cyberman said, over the speaker.
"Doctor, Jared, Cyberships." River said.
"No, Dalek ships. Listen to them. Those are Dalek ships." The Doctor said.
"Yes. Dalek ships and Cyberships."
"That's easy enough." I said, letting go of Madoka's hand. "We have to let them turn on each other. Start a fight."
"Didn't you say the Daleks have tempers?" Kyoko asked. "More than me."
"Yup. They're ever so cross."
"Sontaran. Four battlefleets." River said.
"Sontarans! Talk about cross, who stole all their handbags?" The Doctor asked.
"Terileptil. Slitheen, Chelonian, Nestene, Drahvin. Sycorax, Haemogoth, Zygon, Atraxi, Draconian. Incubators, Life Fibers, Grimm, Noise. Aurum, the Forces of Nature, the Underworld Army. They're all here for the Pandorica." River said.
"Wait, Grimm?" I asked, looking at River. "How did they cross worlds? To this one."
"Can Salem dimension travel?" Madoka asked.
"No. She can't."
"Hello, do gooders!" Hades said, telepathically.
"Ugh! Why are there loads of aliens above Stonehenge?" Viridi asked, telepathically. "It would take hours for my Forces of Nature to defeat them all. Just for what? A stupid box. I have to retrieve it."
"What are you? What could you possibly be?" The Doctor asked, leaning against the Pandorica.
Stonehenge…
Lots of spaceships are buzzing around in the sky.
"What do we do?" Madoka asked.
"Ugh, Doctor, Jared, listen to me, please." Kyoko said, her hand on her hip. "Everything, and I do mean everything. That had ever hated either of you. They're coming here tonight."
"She's right." Viridi said, telepathically. "Neither of you can fight this. Or win this. And Jared, you can't punch your way through this. Like Hibiki Tachibana can."
"Both of the girls are right. Doctor, Jared, this once, just this one time, please, you have to run." River said.
"Where can we run? Hell, where can I run?" I asked. "I can't even go to Remnant without these things following me. And Salem with her posse and army of monsters is bad enough."
"How can you fight them? You can't defeat them with just yourself, the Doctor, River, Amy, and three Magical Girls." Sayaka said.
"Don't forget, I'm still cross about this." Viridi said, telepathically. "You didn't have to drag them all here, Jared. Your enemies."
"Sorry, sorry, Viridi." I said, sadly. "I haven't met you and Hades yet. Where's Pit and Palutena?"
"Those two? They're probably sleeping." Hades said, telepathically.
"The greatest military machine in the history of the universe." The Doctor said.
"What is? The Daleks?" Amy asked.
"No. No, no, no, no, no. The Romans."
(Open POV)
Cleopatra's tent…
River returns to the Roman camp with Kyoko and are taken prisoner.
"So. I return to my command after one week and discover we've been playing host to Cleopatra. Who's in Egypt. And dead." The commander said.
"Well, it's funny how things work out." Kyoko said, her hand on her hip.
A spaceship buzzes them.
"The sky is falling and you make jokes. Who are you?" The commander asked.
"When you fight Barbarians, what must they think of you?" River asked.
"Probably an idiot." Kyoko said, looking over at River.
"Oh, riddles now." The commander said, annoyed.
"Where do they think you come from?" River asked.
"A place more deadly and more powerful and more impatient than their tiny minds can imagine."
River uses her gun to disintegrate a wooden stand filled with ornaments, "Where do we come from? Your world has visitors."
"You really are idiots after all. You're all Barbarians now." Kyoko said, annoyed.
"What is that? Tell me what?" The commander asked, looking at River's gun.
"A fool would say the work of the Gods, but you've been a soldier too long to believe there are Gods watching over us. There is, however, men. And tonight they're going to need your help." River said.
"Sir?" A man asked, nearby.
"One moment." The commander said, and he has a whispered conference with shady Centurions. "Well, it seems you have volunteers."
Pandorica chamber…
"So what's this got to do with the Tardis and Madoka Kaname?" Amy asked.
"Nothing. Because the three aren't interconnected. If I recall correctly." Jared said, rolling his eyes.
"But Vincent's painting. The Tardis was exploding with remnants of the Law of Cycles. Is that going to happen?"
"I think we should focus on one problem at a time." Madoka said, frowning.
"Yup, spot on. There's forcefield technology inside this box. If I can enhance the signal, I could extend it all over Stonehenge. Could buy us half an hour." The Doctor said.
"What good is half an hour? That's barely enough time for anything." Sayaka said.
"There are fruit flies live on Hoppledom Six that live for twenty minutes and they don't even mate for life. There was going to be a point to that. I'll get back to you." The Doctor said.
Amy takes the ring box from her pocket, "So, are you proposing to someone?"
"What's up with the purple bows wrapped around your hoodie?" Sayaka asked, looking at the purple bows on Jared's hoodie pull strings.
"I don't know." Jared said, crossing his arms. "I wanted to try out a look."
"Aren't they a bit big for it?"
"I suppose it is."
"People fall out of the world sometimes, but they always leave traces. Little things we can't quite account for. Faces in photographs, luggage, half eaten meals, rings, ribbons. Nothing is ever forgotten, not completely. And if something can be remembered, it can come back." The Doctor said.
"If only I could stop or rewind time." Jared said, sadly.
"What?" Madoka asked, staring at Jared. "What are you talking about?"
"There are loads of things I regret. I think. I wish I could redo it all again. Just so I can see Team RWBY happy."
"That sounds a bit familiar. I don't know why."
"I know. Like, why did I even bring it up? After me and Team RWBY reuniting. It doesn't make any sense."
"It really doesn't." Madoka said.
"It is you, after all." Sayaka said, rolling her eyes.
"It was too big. Too many empty rooms. Does it ever bother you, Amy, that your life doesn't make any sense?" The Doctor asked.
An energy weapon fires at them. It is the severed Cyberman arm. They hide behind the Pandorica.
"What was that?" Madoka asked.
"Okay, guys, I need to know where the arm is. I have to draw it's fire." Jared said, smiling. "Give it a target."
"How?" Sayaka asked.
"Well, y'know how my ideas are usually out of control?"
"Yeah." Madoka said.
"I'm sorry." Jared said, running out. "Look at me, I'm a target!"
He gets shot at and hides behind the base of a Sarsen.
"What's that?" Sayaka asked.
"It's a Cyberarm. Arm of a Cyberman." Jared said.
"And what's a Cyberman?" Amy asked.
"I think it's part man." Madoka said. "Part machine."
"Yes. The organic part must have died out years ago. Now the robot part is looking for, well, fresh meat." The Doctor said.
"What, us?" Amy asked.
"It's just like being an organ donor, except you're alive and sort of screaming." The Doctor said.
"And Doctor, you need to get behind the Cyberarm." Jared said. "Girls, can you draw it's fire?"
"What, like you did?" Amy asked.
"You'll be fine if you're quick. It's armless, and I bet it's armed and ready. Literally. You got this." Jared said.
Amy, Madoka, and Sayaka run, screaming.
The Doctor pounces on the arm, "Come here!"
He manages to sonic it.
"Doctor?" Amy asked.
"Scrambled its circuits, but stay where you are, it could be bluffing." The Doctor said.
"Bluffing? It's an arm."
"I said stay where you are!"
Something creeps up behind Amy and lassoes her ankle.
"Doctor?" Amy asked, and she was pulled to the floor. "Jared?"
"Amy!" The Doctor said.
"Come on, let's get rid of that thing." Sayaka said, walking over to the Cyberarm.
"Right." Jared said, walking behind Sayaka and grabbing her hand.
The Cyberarm gives the Doctor, Jared, and Sayaka an electric shock, knocking them out.
"Doctor! Jared!" Amy said, and she is being attacked by the Cyberhead.
Madoka grabs it by the ears. It fizzles, then the mask pops open to reveal a skull, which falls out.
"That's a human skull!" Madoka said, looking at the skull. "Oh no."
Amy and Madoka scream. The mask keeps snapping open and shut. Amy hits it against a Sarsen until it lets her go, then throws it to the floor.
"Thank goodness." Madoka said. "I was so worried that that wouldn't work."
It crawls away.
"Same." Amy said. "Doctor? Jared?"
The Cyberhead fires two little darts into Amy and Madoka's necks.
"The two of you will be assimilated." The Cyberhead said.
"Yeah? You and whose body?" Amy asked.
A headless, armless Cyberman enters. It puts its head back on then goes after the woozy Amy and Madoka.
"I think that body." Madoka said, sadly.
They backs out through the big doors.
(Jared's POV)
Underhenge…
"Doctor? Doctor?" Amy asked.
A Roman short sword pierces the door, which swings open to reveal the Cyberman skewered to the wood.
"Who, who are you?" Amy asked.
"Yeah. Who are you?" Madoka asked.
The Centurions remove their helmets.
"Hello, Amy." Rory said.
"Madoka." Homura said.
Amy and Madoka pass out.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa." Rory said.
Rory catches Amy in his arms while Homura catches Madoka in her arms and the two lay them gently on a stone.
"They're safe." Homura said, smiling.
"Sir, they're coming round." A soldier said.
"Amy? Madoka? Where's Amy and Madoka?" I asked, looking around.
"They're fine, Jared. Just unconscious." Rory said.
"Okay. Yes, they're sedated, that's all. Half an hour, they'll be fine." The Doctor said.
"Okay, Romans. I do love some Romans. I was just wishing for some. Nice work, Kyoko and River." I said, smiling.
"How many of you?" Sayaka asked.
"Um, there's fifty men above. They're, they're volunteering. What about that thing?" Homura asked.
"Fifty? You're not exactly a legion."
"Your friends were very persuasive, but it's a tough sell." Rory said.
"Yes, I know that, Rory. I'm not exactly one to miss the obvious. But we need everything we can get. Okay, Cyberweapons. This is basically a sentry box, so headless wonder here was a sentry. Probably got himself duffed up by the locals. Never underestimate a Celt." The Doctor said.
"Doctor?"
"Hush, Rory. Thinking. Why leave a Cyberman on guard, unless it's a Cyberthing in the box." The Doctor said.
"But why would they lock up one of their own?" Sayaka asked.
"Okay, no, not a Cyberthing, but what? What? No, I'm missing something obvious, Rory, Jared, Sayaka, and Homura. Something big. Something right slap in front of me. I can feel it."
"Yeah, I think you probably are." Homura said, frowning.
"I'll get it in a minute." The Doctor said, leaving with Sayaka and I. "Let's go, you two."
"So, what now?" Sayaka asked, holding the weapons. "Do we just…"
"Be badasses?" I asked. "Something tells me I know that girl. But from where?"
Sayaka and I dropped the weapons and we returned with the Doctor.
The Doctor prods Rory, "Hello again."
Homura grabbed my hand and I grabbed Rory's hand and all of my memories of the both of them came flooding back to me.
"Wow." I said, looking over at Homura. "Hi."
"Hi." Homura said, looking at me.
"How are you?"
"I, I'm good. I was turned into a Roman with Rory." Homura said, telepathically.
"Homura, you died. With Rory." I said, telepathically.
"What's going on here?" Sayaka asked, telepathically. "Who's Homura?"
"She's the fifth member of the Puella Magi Holy Quintet. And she was dead for a while."
"I, um, I know. I was there." Homura said, telepathically.
"Well, you died and was erased from time. You didn't just die, Homura. You were never born at all. It's weird even how without you, everyone else in Kamihama still managed to defeat Walpurgisnacht. You never existed."
"But it was my time stopping that helped Iroha. To give her more time." Homura said, telepathically.
"How can she be here if she never existed?" Sayaka asked, telepathically.
"We don't know. It's kind of fuzzy." Rory said.
"Fuzzy?" The Doctor asked.
"Well, Homura and I died and turned into Romans. It's very distracting. Did Amy miss me? And did Madoka miss Homura?" Rory asked.
Something shakes the ground.
Pandorica chamber…
"So, so, that's the Pandorica." Homura said.
The circular designs on the Pandorica are glowing green and moving like cog wheels.
"Yup." I said, looking around the place. "It has such a cool design."
"What is it? What's happening?" Rory asked.
"The final phase. It's opening." The Doctor said.
Salisbury Plain…
"That looks like something out of a science fiction film." Kyoko said.
River and Kyoko are on their horses, watching the myriad of shining spaceships buzzing Stonehenge in typical Spielberg style.
"Yeah, it does, Kyoko." River said. "Doctor, Jared, you're surrounded. Have either of you got a plan?"
"Yes. Now hurry up and…" The Doctor said, over the communicator.
Pandorica chamber…
"...get the Tardis here. I need equipment. What are you? They're all here, all of them, all for you. What could you possibly be?" The Doctor asked, leaning against the Pandorica.
Stonehenge…
"Sorry, sorry, dropped it. Hello, Stonehenge! Who takes the Pandorica, takes the universe. But bad news, everyone…" The Doctor said, and he appears on the Altar stone with me. "Because guess who? Ha!"
"You guys are flying around space. In your massive spaceships. It's honestly, really distracting. Can you all stay still for a minute? Please! Because we're talking! Okay, here's today's question. Who has the Pandorica? Me and the Doctor!" I said, grabbing the Doctor's hand.
"Next question. Who's coming to take it from me and Jared?"
"Come on, you guys. Just look at us. We have no plan, no back up, no weapons that's a hell of worth needing. And there's something else you should know. We don't have anything to lose! Am I right?" I asked, looking at the Doctor.
"Yeah." The Doctor said. "So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little spaceship, with all your silly little guns, and you've got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who's standing in your way. Remember every black day we ever stopped you, and then, and then, do the smart thing. Let somebody else try first." The spaceships retreat. "That'll keep them squabbling for half an hour. Romans."
Tardis…
"Okay." River said.
River and Kyoko dematerialises the Tardis, but it jerks.
"What's the matter with you? With the wheezing noise being like that?" Kyoko asked.
Pandorica chamber…
"They're still out there. What do we do now?" Sayaka asked.
"Well, if we can stop whatever is in this box from getting out." I said. "Maybe they'll go home. All of the aliens."
"Right. That, um, could work." Homura said, nervously.
"Rory, Homura, I'm sorry. You're going to have to be very brave now." The Doctor said.
Amy walks past Rory and Madoka walks past Homura.
"Oh, hi." Madoka said, clutching her head. "My head. That hurts a little."
I looked at Madoka to see impurities coming out of her, I went into my pocket to toss the pink haired Magical Girl a Grief Seed, "Held onto that for months. You know what to do with that."
"Right. What happened?"
"Nothing much." Sayaka said, her hand on her hip. "Besides the Pandorica looking cool. I think you should get some fresh air."
"Is it safe?" Madoka asked.
"It's not that safe. But it's safe enough for you to chat with Amy." I said, smiling.
"Oh. You're the one with the guns." Madoka said, looking at Homura. "The noise was a bit loud. Like those explosives."
"Yeah." Homura said.
"Thanks for the save. Let's go Amy."
Amy and Madoka head out.
"No problem. My men are up there. They'll look after you and Madoka." Rory said.
"Good. Love Romans." Amy said.
"They remind me of superheroes." Madoka said.
"Amy doesn't remember me. And Madoka doesn't remember Homura. How can they not remember us?" Rory asked.
"Because neither of you ever existed." I said, sadly.
Tardis…
"What are you doing? What's wrong?" River asked.
The Tardis lurches down the Time Vortex.
"Ugh. Who knew space travel could be a pain?" Kyoko asked.
Pandorica chamber…
"There are cracks. Cracks in time. There's going to be a huge explosion in the future, on one particular day. And every other moment in history is cracking around it." The Doctor said.
"So how does that work? What kind of explosion? What exploded?" Rory asked.
"The moments like Walpurgisnacht, the Lunar Attack, the Frontier Incident, the Alchemists, Eve, Shem-ha, the Battle of Canary Wharf, the 2009 Dalek Invasion of Earth, etcetera." I said, looking around the place.
"Um, has everyone else forgotten about those?" Homura asked, playing with her hands. "What about the SAO Incident? The Seed? Death Gun? Mother's Rosario? Ordinal Scale? The War of the Underworld?"
"I don't know if it matters at the moment. I think the cracks in time are everywhere now." Sayaka said, frowning. "Even in virtual reality."
"Yeah, you're right, Sayaka. Get too close to them and you can fall right out of the universe." The Doctor said.
"So Homura and I fell through a crack and now we were never born?" Rory asked.
"Basically." I said, grabbing Sayaka's hand.
"Well, um, how did we end up here?" Homura asked.
"I don't know, you two shouldn't have. What happened? From your point of views, what physically happened?" The Doctor asked, looking between Rory and Homura.
"Um, we were in the cave. Me, Madoka, the Doctor, Amy, Rory, and you, Jared." Homura said, recalling what happened. "Me, and, um, Rory. We were dying. And then we were here. Both of us Roman soldiers."
"We were proper Romans." Rory said. "Heads full of Roman stuff. We both had whole other lives, just here like we'd woken up from dreams. I started to think it was a dream, you and Amy and Leadworth."
"And for me, I, um, also thought it was a dream. Fighting Witches and Familiars in Mitakihara City. The Puella Magi Holy Quintet. Me, Madoka, Sayaka, Kyoko, and Mami."
"And then today, in the camp, the men were talking about the visitors. One of the girls with red hair. And the other girl with pink hair. We thought you'd come back for us. But they can't even remember us."
"Oh, shut up. Both of you." I said, untangling the purple bows from my hoodie's pull strings.
"What?" Rory asked.
The Doctor throws the ring box to Rory. And I handed the purple bows to Homura.
"What's happening?" Homura asked.
"Go get 'em." Sayaka said.
"But I don't understand. Why are we here?" Rory asked.
"It's because you are here." I said, smiling. "Rory Williams and Homura Akemi."
"The universe is big. It's vast and complicated and ridiculous, and sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles, and that's the theory. Nine hundred years, never seen one yet, but this would do me. Now get upstairs. They're Amy and Madoka and they're surrounded by Romans. I'm not sure history can take it." The Doctor said.
(Open POV)
Tardis
"Glad that's over with." Kyoko said, when the Tardis stops.
"Kyoko, you okay?" River asked.
It is creaking somewhere.
"I'm fine, I've dealt with worse. So, where did the land?" Kyoko asked.
"Okay. You okay now?" River asked, looking up at the ceiling.
River and Kyoko leave. The scanner lights up. Location: Earth. Date 26/06/2010. Then it breaks, a W shaped crack in the glass.
"Silence will fall." A voice said, nearby.
Outside Amy's house…
Night.
"Why have you brought us here?" River asked.
"Scorch marks." Kyoko said, while she found scorch marks in the lawn. "The hell is that doing here?"
"I don't know." River said, when the front door is hanging off its hinges. "Okay, so something's been here."
Amy's bedroom…
She follows her tricorder signal upstairs with Kyoko behind her.
"Amy. Madoka. Oh, Doctor, Jared, why do I let you out?" River asked.
River finds a copy of The Story of Roman Britain and Madoka's campus notebook by Amy's bed.
"Son of a bitch." Kyoko said, her eyes widening. "That explains everything. What else is here?"
And a copy of the Legend of Pandora's box. There's sheet music, a tea set with slices of cake, and a couple boxes of Pocky on the floor.
"The pickup and drop offs of us Magical Girls." Kyoko said, looking at River. "Between adventures with the Doctor and Jared. Us. Me, Madoka, Sayaka, and Mami. We were the last batch of Magical Girls here."
River touched the tea kettle to see that it's cold.
"Oh no." River said, looking around the bedroom. "And by the looks of things, Jared dropped Mami off back in Mitakihara."
Stonehenge…
Rory goes up to Amy and Homura goes up to Madoka.
"Um, hi." Homura said, looking at Madoka.
"Hi." Madoka said, smiling. "Are you okay?"
"I'm, I'm fine. You have a blanket? Comfy?"
"Yeah. Guns have been invented yet. How did you get them?"
"I don't know."
"So, what's your name?"
"Homura."
"What's your name?" Amy asked.
"I'm Rory. What's wrong?" Rory asked.
"Nothing. It's just not what you expect Romans to be called. What's it short for? Roranicus?" Amy asked.
"Yeah. You're crying. And Madoka is crying too." Rory said, looking between Amy and Madoka.
Pandorica chamber…
The Doctor contacts River and Kyoko, "The Tardis, where is it? Hurry up."
Tardis…
"Doctor, Jared, don't yell." Kyoko said, a Pocky sticking out of her mouth. "Don't get scared. Bring Sayaka with you. She needs to hear this. Just listen, all three of you."
Stonehenge…
"Are you okay?" Homura asked.
"I'm fine." Madoka said, happily. "Wait, why am I happy? We have never met before."
Madoka looked over to see that Amy is feeling the same thing she is.
Tardis…
"They're not real. They can't be." Kyoko said, looking over at the book with River. "They're here in this goddamn story book."
"Yeah. Those actual Romans. The ones Kyoko and I sent you, the ones you and Jared are with right now. They're all in a book in Amy's house. A children's picture book." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"Why are you guys there?" Sayaka asked.
"It doesn't matter. The Tardis went wrong." River said, her voice over the communicator.
Tardis…
"Doctor, Jared, how is this possible?" Kyoko asked.
Pandorica chamber…
"Well, something is using her memories. Amy's memories. And probably Madoka's memories. And my memories." Jared said, leaning against the Pandorica.
"But how?" River asked, her voice over the communicator.
"You said something had been there." Sayaka said. "What was it? Can you tell us?"
"Yes."
Tardis…
"There were burn marks on the grass outside." Kyoko said. "What were they called?"
Pandorica chamber…
"Kyoko, dear, they were landing patterns." River said, her voice over the communicator.
"If they've been to her house, they could have used Amy's, Madoka's and Jared's psychic residue." The Doctor said.
"Well, structures can hold memories, and that's why houses have ghosts. Sometimes those ghosts can be Witches." Sayaka said.
"It's not a Witch, Sayaka. It can't be. They could've taken a snapshot of Amy's, Madoka's, and Jared's memories. But why?" The Doctor asked.
Tardis…
"Doctor, Jared, who are those Romans?" River asked.
Pandorica chamber…
"Projections, or duplicates." The Doctor said.
Tardis…
"But they were helping us." Kyoko said. "Those Romans."
"And my lipstick even worked." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"They might think they're real. The perfect disguise. They actually believe their own cover story, right until they're activated. Madoka, Sayaka, Kyoko, and Mami, they're real. I scanned them with my sonic a while back. Just to make sure." The Doctor said.
Tardis…
"Doctor, that Centurion. " River said.
River has found a photograph of Amy in her policewoman outfit with Rory dressed as a Roman.
"And that black haired Magical Girl." Kyoko said.
And Kyoko has found a photograph of her and the rest of the Puella Magi Holy Quintet at the beach. The one they were at a while back.
Stonehenge…
"What's the matter?" Rory asked.
"Nothing. I don't know why I'm doing that." Amy said.
"It's me. Amy, please. It's me."
Tardis…
"It's a trap. It has to be." Kyoko said. "Jared, you were recently in another trap. At Haven."
"They used Amy and Madoka to construct a scenario you and Jared would believe, to get close to you two." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"Why? Who would do that?" Sayaka asked.
"What for? Why put me in another trap?" Jared asked. "It doesn't make any sense."
Tardis…
"The fuck?" Kyoko asked.
Something goes Bang.
"River? Kyoko? River? Kyoko?" The Doctor asked, his voice over the communicator.
Pandorica chamber…
"River, Kyoko, what's happening?" The Doctor asked.
Tardis…
"The hell are we supposed to know? I think it's the engines." Kyoko said. "Like when the brakes of a car won't work."
"Doctor, Jared, there's something wrong with the Tardis, like something else is controlling it." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"Both of you are flying it wrong." The Doctor said.
Tardis…
"We're flying it perfectly. You taught me…" River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"Where are you? What does the date say?" Jared asked, grabbing Sayaka's hand.
Tardis
"It's the 26th of June, 2010." Kyoko said, reading the scanner.
Pandorica chamber…
"You two have to get out of there. Right now! Just go to any other time zone. Get away from the wedding day!" Jared said, squeezing Sayaka's hand.
Tardis…
"This could be bad. Just go." Sayaka said, her voice over the communicator.
"Argh! We can't break free." Kyoko said, flicking switches.
Pandorica chamber…
"So, shut down the TARDIS. Turn everything off like a car!" Sayaka said, coming up with an idea.
Tardis…
"We can't!" Kyoko said, looking at River.
"Silence will fall. Silence will fall." A voice said, nearby.
Stonehenge…
"I don't know you. Who are you again? I never met you before." Madoka said, looking at Homura.
"You have. You really have. It's me." Homura said, letting out tears.
"Why are we crying?" Amy asked.
"Because you and Madoka remember us. We came back. Me and Homura came back. You two are crying because you remember us." Rory said.
Tardis…
"Someone else is flying it. An external force. We've lost control." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"But how is that possible? Why?" Sayaka asked.
"I don't know." Jared said. "But I've got a bad feeling about this."
A high pitched noise fills the chamber and the Romans slump over for a moment, then reactivate.
"Listen to me, just land her anywhere. Emergency landing, now. There are cracks in time. Jared and I, we've seen them everywhere, and they're getting wider. The Tardis exploding and there being remnants of the Law of Cycles are what causes them, but we can stop the cracks ever happening if you and Kyoko just land the blue box." The Doctor said.
Tardis…
"It's not safe." River said.
Pandorica chamber…
The Pandorica starts to open.
"What are you doing?" Sayaka asked.
Jared took out a TARDIS key with a perception filter on top from his pocket, he tossed it to Sayaka Miki.
"This should keep you hidden and safe. I think." Jared said, and Sayaka wrapped the chain with the key around her neck. "Don't know for sure."
A brilliant white light floods out.
"Well, now. Ready to come out, are we?" The Doctor said.
Stonehenge…
"No, no. I can't go. Um, I really can't. I'm Homura!" Homura said, looking at Madoka.
Tardis…
"Doctor?" River asked.
Pandorica chamber…
"We're down." River said, her voice over the communicator.
Tardis…
"We've landed. That took way longer than it needed to." Kyoko said.
"Okay, both of you, just walk out of the doors. If there's no one inside, the Tardis engines shut down automatically." The Doctor said, over the speaker.
Pandorica chamber…
"Just get out of there." Jared said, grabbing Sayaka's hand.
"All right, all right! We're going." Kyoko said, over the communicator.
"Run! Get out of there! River and Kyoko!" Sayaka said, angrily.
The Roman's fingers drop away from their hands to reveal weapons. They are Autons.
"Doctor! Jared! Doctor, Jared, we can't open the doors!" River said, over the communicator.
"Autons. Shit." Jared said, looking at Sayaka. "Madoka!"
The Doctor and Jared see the Autons.
"Amy!" The Doctor said.
Stonehenge…
"Listen to me, please! Madoka, run with Amy! Um, you have to get as far away from me and Rory as you can. We're things. We can kill you and Amy!" Homura said, looking at Madoka. "Please! I, um, I don't want to go. I'm Homura! I'm, I'm, um…"
"Akemi. Homura Akemi from Mitakihara Middle School. A fellow Magical Girl. How could I ever forget you?" Madoka asked. "You could stop time and rewind time, right? According to Jared, your name means flame. Where you're flaring up passionately, right?"
"Amy, you've got to run with Madoka. We can't hold on. We're going." Rory said.
"You are Rory Williams and you aren't going anywhere ever again." Amy said, fixated on Rory.
Tardis…
"Doctor, Jared, we can't open the goddamn doors!" Kyoko said, angrily.
"Doctor, Jared, please, we've got seconds!" River said.
Pandorica chamber…
"Plastic Romans. Duplicates, driven by the Nestene Consciousness, eh? Deep cover, but what for? What are you doing? What's in there, eh? What's coming out?" The Doctor asked.
"I don't know. It can be anything in this reality, Spaceman." Jared said, sadly.
River and Kyoko hook the Tardis engines to the main door handles.
"The Pandorica is ready." Marcellus said.
"What, do you mean it's open?" The Doctor asked.
"I don't think it means that." Jared said, letting go of Sayaka's hand. "I think it means something else."
The White allegedly Supreme new style Dalek trundles forward, "You have been scanned, assessed, understood, Doctor, Storyteller."
Red and Yellow beam in behind it.
Stonehenge…
"I knew you would never leave me." Madoka said, as she began braiding Homura's hair. "I had a bit of faith and hope that you would come back. Do you remember the bows you wear?"
"Yeah. I do. I, um, have them. Jared gave them to me." Homura said, hugging Madoka.
"Can you show me the bows?" Madoka asked, braiding Homura's hair.
"Madoka…"
"Come on. Just show it to me."
Homura obeys. She takes out the bows out of her pocket.
Pandorica chamber…
"What were we scanned by? A box? It's just a fairy tale. The Pandorica." Jared said, crossing his arms.
"Both of your limits and capacities have been extrapolated." The White Dalek said.
Cybermen, Judoon and Sontarans beam down.
"The Pandorica is ready." Stark sad.
"Ready for what?" The Doctor asked.
"Ready for the both of you." The White Dalek said.
The Doctor and Jared struggle against the grip of two Romans each.
Stonehenge…
"There it is. You remember. This is you, and you are staying." Amy said.
"You're staying too." Madoka said, and she finally finished braiding Homura's hair. "Homura Akemi."
Rory's and Homura's gun hands activate.
"No." Homura said, sadly.
Rory shoots Amy and Homura shoots Madoka.
"No! No! No!" Rory said.
Pandorica chamber…
River and Kyoko try frantically to escape the Tardis as the Doctor and Jared are dragged closer and closer to the Pandorica. The Doctor and Jared are then fastened into the seats inside it.
Both of their arms, torso and head are clamped in place and all their old enemies and new enemies stare at them. The Doctor is at the front, and Jared is at the back of the Pandorica.
"You lot, working together. An alliance. How is that possible?" The Doctor asked.
"The cracks in the skin of the universe." The White Dalek said.
"All reality is threatened." Stark said.
"All universes will be deleted." The Cyberleader said.
"Wait, you've come to us for help?" Jared asked. "That's nice of you."
"No. We will save the universe from the both of you!" Stark said, angrily.
"You're saving the universe from us? Why?"
"All projections correlate. All evidence concurs. The Doctor and the Storyteller will destroy the universe." The Cyberleader said.
"No, no, no. You've got it wrong." The Doctor said.
"The Pandorica was constructed to ensure the safety of the Alliance." The Cyberleader said.
"A scenario was devised from the memories of your companions." The White Dalek said.
"A trap the Doctor and the Storyteller could not resist." Stark said.
"The cracks in time are the work of the Doctor and the Storyteller. It is confirmed." The White Dalek said.
"No. no, no, not us, the Tardis. And we're not in the Tardis, are we?" The Doctor asked.
"Only the Doctor and the Storyteller can pilot the Tardis." The White Dalek said.
Sayaka Miki snuck inside Jared's side of the Pandorica, out of sight and out of mind.
"Please, just listen to us!" Jared said, looking at the enemies he's faced with the Doctor.
"You will be prevented." The White Dalek said.
"Total event collapse! Every sun will supernova at every moment in history. The whole universe will never have existed." The Doctor said.
"Please, listen to us! Like, I've been trying to prevent this for ages! Let us go, please! Just listen to me!" Jared said, trying to break free.
"Seal the Pandorica." The Cyberleader said.
"No! Please, listen to us! The Tardis is exploding right now and something happened to the Law of Cycles and we're the only ones who can stop it! Listen to us!" The Doctor said.
The Pandorica closes.
Tardis...
River and Kyoko open the Tardis doors to discover they are parked right up against a rock wall.
"I'm sorry, my love." River said.
"We couldn't stop this." Kyoko said. "We tried. Damn it."
The Tardis explodes. As Rory weeps over Amy's body, and Homura weeps over Madoka's body, every star in the universe goes KaBOOM.
