ch21-Tutorial (16) Creating a spell

"WOWO, that is more than enough for me, you are qualified to get rewarded strait from the treasury once you show my that you killed enough wolves. Of course, that is if you want to stop here."

Rolan said that last part with a hint of laughter as he remembered all the crazy expressions Oliver made during the battle, obviously identifying him as a battle maniac.

Oliver, at the other side of the courtyard was smiling from ear to ear, but unlike what Rolan thought it had nothing to do with him or the treasury. Rather, it came from a crazy notification he had gotten after trying out to create his spell one last time while observing Rolan walk out of the dust cloud.

'I did it, I really did it, this is crazy.'

At this very moment Rolan's stats were being displayed, all be it partially in Olivers mind. Purely by analysing and conceptualizing the energy patterns Rolan gave of.

[Rolan]

Class: Warrior

Health: 430/430 (0.01/minute)

Stamina: 360/360 (0.1/minute)

Energy: 500/500 (50/minute)

[Attributes]

Strength 48

Speed 29

Stamina 36

Sturdiness 43

Energy Pool 20

Regeneration 25

Rolan was by all accounts an incredible warrior for the tutorial, and this wasn't all, it was just that Oliver didn't have the ability to inspect more of Rolan's stats.

That thought got interrupted however as his new spell popped up in a notification before him.

[Analyse (Fourth circle)]

Level 1

Use mana tendrils to read target information.

Cannot be perceived.

Cannot be blocked.

Upgrade of universal skill/spell: Identify

Mana Cost: Depends on strength of target

Cast Time: instant

No Cooldown

Spells, just like many other things in the tower got graded from first to tenth circle spells, the only exception being the beginner spells magic missile and mana shield which were even lower than grade one.

The circle of the spell indicated its power, a first circle spell would be mainstream in hub world one, and so forth.

The spell itself wasn't that amazing, at least when compared to other 4th circle spells, which normally only got mainstream at the 4th or 5th hub world.

The real incredible thing about this spell was the fact that it couldn't be perceived nor blocked, so as long as Oliver had enough mana he could even technically inspect stats from creatures of the 100th floor.

Of course Oliver wasn't in the illusion that such creatures wouldn't have counter measures.

As he was thinking about his new spell another notification popped up, one that Oliver had been eagerly waiting for.

It wouldn't be a stretch to say that every single mage in the tower would give up nearly everything they had for the thing Oliver was about to receive.

The ability to truly learn magic.

[Congratulations. You have made an exceptional achievement.]

+Qualification

'God damn, that old man really wasn't lying when he said I didn't have the right qualifications, can I really learn magic now?'

At that exact instant an invisible force swept through Olivers body, it felt so strange that it was almost like he had lost something, he felt strangely empty.

It was only a moment later that Oliver noticed that it wasn't that he had lost something, it was more like shackles that he had gotten so used to that had been removed.

But one thing was for certain now that he had a feeling for these imaginary shackles, there were more, still lingering on his body.

Thousands of questions rapidly came to his mind as Oliver started thinking more about these qualifications. How could he get more, what were these shackles or restriction, how many people knew, was the process of getting qualifications the same or different for everyone.

These questions, however, couldn't be answered at the moment, so Oliver had to let it go for now.

That disappointment didn't last long however as he looked at his hands, which felt strangely lighter now.

'I can, truly start learning magic now...'

From the moment he set foot in the tower Oliver had been on the path of magic, from his professions to his class every single action he had taken was to reach not only the top of the tower but also, and maybe even more importantly magic.

But, just like most mages in the tower Oliver got disappointed as he realized that magic was something controlled by the system.

You might be able to move the mana, and cast the spells, but truly getting to the hearth of magic, creating, modifying and naturally learning spells was out of the question.

The deeper he delved the more he felt that his magic, although complex was nothing more than a toy handed to him to play with. Stuck with the finished product and unable to create his own.

This went against all principles of mages, all be it scholar, or battle mages all had one thing in common, they thirsted for knowledge and research.

It was only now that Oliver could see the road open in front of him, the long journey of magic finally opening its gates, and Oliver couldn't wait to go on that journey.

'But now isn't the moment.'

The tutorial was still underway, and Oliver had no doubt that even learning the most basic spells would be insanely difficult. As the intuition needed to understand a spell was normally at least 5 to 10 times higher than the amount needed to learn it through the system.

Oliver nodded his head at Rolan, not following him back to his office.

"I will be on my way than general, I assume you will need a lot of wolves killed before I can get items from the treasury."

Rolan nodded back, Oliver already heading out of the courtyard, and out of the inner city for that matter.

Wolves hadn't penetrated the city that deep that they appeared in the inner city, so the only place he could do some hunting was the edges of the outer city, and mostly the woods there.

'I needed to get that achievement anyway.'
