Everyone wants to kill Patty

They were driving on the highway at the moment, it was quiet between them as John and Nesiara didn't want to disturb the bonding time between Dante and Patty but Dante seemed to be nervous because of the girl.

"Patty, why don't you tell us something about yourself? We only know that you live in an orphanage and that you are the illegitimate child of the Lowell Family Head," says Nesiara trying to break the silence which Dante couldn't because of his nervousness.

"My mother took me to the orphanage because she couldn't raise me. I don't know much about her except for how she looks like thanks to this necklace," says Patty as she showed it to them.

Dante almost lost control over the car because he could feel the demonic energy coming from it. He was more sensitive to demonic energy thanks to John's training program.

"Carefully or are you trying to kill me," says Patty as Dante was back in control of the car.

'How can this girl have a demonic item?' asks Dante himself as he looked into the rear mirror at John and Nesiara for an answer but they only smiled at him.

"Dante was raised in an orphanage as well," says Nesiara as Patty looked at Dante for confirmation.

"I was," says Dante as Patty looked at surprised.

"My parents died in a fire which made me and my orphans. We got separated from each other but it has been some years that we reunited again. He has a family and lives in Fortuna," says Dante when he sees a truck across from them.

The truck was on his line when Dante raised the volume of the radio to distract Patty as he pulled his gun out and shot at the roof of the container the truck was transporting killing a demon that was hiding on it.

"Good eyes," says John as Patty didn't even know that she was just in a dangerous situation.

"Why did you turn the radio up? I couldn't hear anything because of it," says Patty not realizing that Dante did it on purpose so she wouldn't hear the gunshot.

"We should switch our method of traveling," says Dante as he wanted to avoid another demon attack that way.

"There should be a train station a bit ahead of us," says Nesiara as Dante nods while looking at Patty before looking at the road again.

They arrived at the train station and Dante parked the car there hoping that it survives the neighborhood before they go to buy four tickets that will take them near to the Lowell Estate.

They needed to wait so they sat down at a table in an ice cream parlor and Dante ordered himself two strawberry sundaes while John ordered himself some choco caramel ice.

Nesiara ordered some cookie ice cream for herself while Patty received a banana split which Dante ordered for her as Dante asks, "Is Nun Marie still in charge of the Orphanage?"

"You mean Nun Marie-Ann?" asks Patty as Dante nods as their orders arrived at their table.

"Yes, she still runs the Orphanage she is quite warm to all children brought to the Orphanage," says Patty as she begins to enjoy her banana split.

"She was always like that open-minded to every child in her care. That's the secret behind the success of the children that leave the orphanage once they are old enough," says Dante as he enjoyed every spoon he shoveled out of his strawberry sundaes.

John and Nesiara were enjoying the ice quietly when Nesiara places her ice cream down for a moment and says, "I will go to the bathroom for a moment. Do you want to join me, Patty? It will be a long way to our destination."

"I will be right behind you," says Patty as she finished her ice cream before jumping from her seat following Nesiara towards the toilets.

"Time to work," says John to Dante as they stand up and pay the bill before hunting two demons that were observing them the whole time.

They killed the two demons before Nesiara and Patty came out of the toilet as John looked at the clock and says, "Time to catch a train."

They boarded the train and they find free seats on which they sit down when Patty notices that Dante was holding on to his guitar case instead of putting it over them with the other baggage.

"Why are you holding on your guitar that much? Is playing it your second job?" asks Patty curious since she didn't know much about her company.

"You could see it so. Maybe you will see me play it later," says Dante foreshadowing that he might be using Rebellion later if the situation is dire enough.

"Are you even good at playing the guitar or are you just posing to look cool like the children in the orphanage?" asks Patty suspicious about Dante being able to play the guitar at all.

"I can play with the instrument inside this case perfectly so don't worry about that but what will you do once you have your inheritance?" asks Dante as Patty began to think seriously about it when they entered a tunnel.

Dante pulled out his Ivory and shot thrice against the window while pulling Patty's hat down so she couldn't see what he was about to do.

The moment the train passed the tunnel the people in the same compartment began to scream because a person was dead in the same compartment just on the other end of it.

The train made an emergency stop as the police were called and everyone waited to give their statement about what was going on while they were in the tunnel.

The group gave their statement before they looked at their phone and Dante says, "There is a motel in this town. We should stay for tonight."

"Good idea it is getting dark. Let grab something to eat for us and call it a day," says Nesiara as Patty looked at the adult completely in disbelief.

"How can you three be so calm! A person died on that train! Shouldn't you feel a bit scared after this!" shouts Patty as she was hiding her fear behind the shouts.

"Patty," says John as he pets her head making her feel comfortable and reassuring her that everything was alright.

"In our world, people die every day. We are already hardened when it happens but that doesn't mean that we don't appreciate the gift of life. Now how about Dante carries you on his shoulders until we reach the next bistro," says John as he takes the guitar case from Dante.

"I hope you enjoy this since it will be the first and last time that I will carry someone on my shoulders," says Dante as he lifted Patty up as if she was nothing and places her on his shoulders.

"Just hold on kid. I don't you to fall off," says Dante as they walk through the town until they reached a pizzeria.

Dante puts Patty down as they sat down before they start to order their food when Patty says, "I'm sorry about my little outburst."

"Don't worry, kid. We all have those moments. It goes away after some time working in our business. We might not show it on ourselves but we remember the faces," says John as he still remembers who he has killed over the years.

Not all of them deserved it but most did and he wouldn't change anything about it when the fold arrived and he got served a pizza that seemed to look like a cake.

"That could give someone a heart attack, are you really going to eat that alone?" asks Patty as John smiled at Patty.

"I and Nesiara have a different metabolism. We need to eat more so we don't run out of energy," says John explaining to Patty why he and Nesiara were eating so much when she noticed that Nesiara was eating four times more than John.

"Is that why Nora said that she would be in the kitchen the whole day," says Patty realizing that the sentence was now more logical than before.

"But why did they only ate one of those fruit biscuits?" asks Patty confused since those biscuits were quite small compared to what Nesiara was filling herself with.

"Those biscuits aren't really biscuits but elven bread. I was made so messengers that would travel over weeks wouldn't starve," says Nesiara explaining what Lembas was to Patty while they were eating.

Once done eating they went to the motel and booked two rooms making Dante and Patty share a room while the couple was in the other room.

"The receptionist is the demon, right?" asks Nesiara as John nods when Nesiara manifests Omega but John stops her.

"If you do that they will never have the relationship they have in the future. We changed already many things if we change this as well Patty might not become attached to Dante," says John as Nesiara looked at John seriously before she sighs.

"You are right," says Nesiara as they retreated to their room.

In the night Patty sneaked herself away towards the theater because of the poster she saw with a woman that resembled her mother on it.

Dante notices it fast and questions the demon receptionist with the name of Sid. Dante spared his life as he rushed after Patty who was already in the theater.

She was in trance and about to walk into the demon's arms when Dante stopped her. She woke up from her trance and saw the demon that was disguising itself as her mother.

She then notices that Dante was holding two guns before he pushes his guitar suitcase over to Patty and says, "Open it when I tell you to."

Patty only nods when Dante shoots at some ropes that were holding a background that fell between him and Patty while telling her that this performance wasn't for children as he began killing demons left and right before Patty hears Dante say, "Now!"

Patty opened the suitcase and Rebellion shot out of it directly into Dante's direction who caught it and used it right away before Patty fell unconscious because of everything going on while John and Nesiara were watching everything from above.

Sid suddenly appeared and was approaching Patty way earlier than he should which made Nesiara move between Patty and Sid as she was holding Omega while pointing it at her.

"Take one more step and you are dead," says Nesiara as she leaked demonic energy way stronger than Mundus' making clear to the weak demon that she was way out of his league.
