Chapter 5: Meeting Mss. Luthor

Today I was meeting up with Lena Luthor. If I was correct she was the one Normani and I saw when we broke into Luthorcorp. Luckily that night, I had my face covered with a mask but still. There's a slight chance I'll be recognised by her, even though it is very small.

I really had a hard time trying to sleep last night. I thought about cancelling the meeting last minute, cause even if the meeting went well, working for Lena meant taking a huge risk. She would eventually find out, so I had to be quick enough to find out what she was planning. Despite not having the documents, there were a million other ways to find out I was the one who escaped CADMUS.

I immediately told the rest when Kara had called me yesterday. At first most of them were reluctant about me meeting up with Lena. Yet they all agreed that it would be easier to take her down from the inside, and I'd find out a lot more if I was close to her. Afterwards they all agreed that I had to go for it. Maybe I could eventually find out why she wanted to find me and for the meantime, being her employee might make her less suspicious of me.

Today was the meeting though, and it frightened me. I hadn't even eaten, even though the girls had bought doughnuts. I hadn't even touched the vanilla sprinkled ones.

My legs were shaking as I went to prepare for greeting Lena in the bathroom mirror. I'd fuck up if I didn't calm down right now. I was always extremely awkward when I was anxious. I splashed some water on my face, took a few deep breaths, and headed out of the bathroom. I told myself, not really believing my own words

Before I left I gave all of the girls a hug, Normani being the last. "Good luck, y/n. Don't worry, you got this." She smiled, yet I could detect the concern in her eyes. At least the thought of Kara being there calmed my nerves a bit, though I'd rather have the girls with me.

"Come on y/n, we gotta go now. You don't want to be late for this." Dinah spoke. She was going to drop me off close to the meeting spot. Dinah had another car besides the van, it was a small red one with squeaky breaks and no airconditioning. At least it didn't look as suspicious as our black van with bullet proof glass, which might have been spotted the night we broke into Luthercorp.

Right now I was in the passenger seat of Dinah's car.  Lena and Kara had offered to pick me up at home, but since I already moved to the headquarters I couldn't let them do that. They'd be confused picking me up at an abandoned area and I couldn't have them know where I lived either. Even though the headquarters were hidden underground and secured heavily, it wasn't safe.

"Hey y/n, take this with you just in case," Dinah said giving me some kind of device. "Ever played the game watchdogs? It's not that great, though it gave me the idea to make this for you"

I studied the device she gave me. It looked somewhat like a phone.

"It's just like a tiny cellphone with a few extra tricks. You can hack systems like traffic lights with it. It might come in handy. Especially when you're dealing with an extremely smart person like her. I didn't have time to use your phone for this, it's a prototype I had lying around." Dinah said. "I know you haven't trained with it yet, but if something were to happen..."

Dinah was just like a worried mother sometimes. I knew if she could, she'd just send me in there with all of her gadgets. There wasn't really a need for it, but I thanked Dinah for the little device she gave me. This was just her way to show me how much she cared.

Soon Dinah and I were a block away from where I had to meet up with Lena and Kara.

"If anything happens I'll stay close. Don't worry y/n, I won't let anything happen to you. Good luck."

I stayed in the car a little while longer, and took a couple of deep breaths, before getting out.

"Bye Dinah, thanks for the ride."

...

I entered the little café where we were supposed to meet and it was pretty dark inside. The walls had bordeaux red wallpaper and all of the furniture was made out of dark wood. The whole interior basically looked like it came out of a medieval castle. Pretty much my style. The room felt really cozy, with all the little candles everywhere.

At a table in a dark corner of the room, Kara was happily waving at me. I walked over there and she stood up to give me a quick hug before we sat down at the table.

"Hey y/n! This place is a bit dark isn't it? Not really my thing, but Lena loves it here." Surprisingly Lena was nowhere to be seen, and I thought they came here together?

"Hey, Kara! Yeah I love it here too actually. Did miss Luthor cancel, I thought you two came here together?"

Just as she was about to open her mouth a raven-haired woman with piercing green eyes sat down next to her.

"I didn't, just had to go make a call. I'd never cancel on someone like you." She smiled, creepily staring at me. Well, I found it creepy. Who wouldn't find someone creepy though, if they were stealing personal documents to try and track you down? And those eyes... it was as if they could look right through me. "Nice to meet you y/n. You can call me Lena..."

"Oh eh.. hello Lena." I smiled shaking the hand she had extended. She looked nothing like her mother. She was breathtaking, I had to keep myself from gaping at her. Even though it wasn't the first time I saw her, it felt entirely different now she was sitting right in front of me.

"So I saw the article and your art and it's so beautiful. I have to admit that I might be fangirling a little bit." She smiled. This meeting wasn't as formal as I thought it would be. At least that took away a bit of tension.

"Eh... oh .. eh...thank you!" I replied awkwardly, feeling a blush creeping onto my cheeks.

"By the way... you seemed pretty familiar to me. The first time I saw your picture I was like 'I know her from somewhere!'... Did we ever meet?" She asked studying my face. The answer probably wasn't as important as my reaction to her question, so I tried to keep calm.

"Probably not, I would've remembered those piercing green eyes."I tried to be my normal self, and not to come across as nervous.

Did she ever visit project Cadmus? How does my face seem familiar to her when she couldn't have seen it? I was fully covered when we broke in right? Let's hope she wasn't involved with her mother's organisation.

"Aw, you're adorable." She playfully winked. " Well, you'll get used to my green eyes, if you agree to take up my offer of course. Kara sent you the information right?"

"Yes she did, and I must admit that I was excited too for the projects you proposed. I've considered it and I think I'll take it. I'd love to work with you, it is an amazing opportunity and I'm really grateful that you've offered me to work for you."

She seemed surprised by my answer, as if she expected me not to agree. It was as if she knew I didn't trust her at all, though she seemed happy about it.

"I thought I'd have to persuade you to work for me, cause you don't seem to be very fond of CEOs and people in power. At least that's what I took from some of your work." She said.

"It depends on their actions. I don't mind if they're good people. I just can't stand it when people who have so much influence miss-use their power. Some people think they can just use others as long as it benefits them"  I hope my tone didn't hint how I felt about her, especially my last sentence.

"So I take it that you don't think I am one of those people?" She made it sound more like a question than a statement. She didn't even seem to blink as she looked at me.
