Dr Yip ?

After nearly twenty consecutive days on duty at the outpatient clinic, Ye Xiu finally had his first day off.

He was forced to take this break by Wang Yanchao.

Despite repeatedly insisting to Wang Yanchao that he was perfectly fine and could continue working, Wang Yanchao remained adamant and gave him a mandatory day off. He even instructed the other doctors and nurses in the clinic not to assign any shifts to Ye Xiu, effectively putting a stop to it.

To Wang Yanchao, working at such a high intensity for so long was simply reckless.

No matter how much Ye Xiu claimed he was fine, Wang Yanchao didn't believe him. In his view, everyone, regardless of their profession, needed rest and balance. For doctors, especially those in the outpatient clinic, the workload was exceptionally demanding. Such intense work would not only lead to physical overexertion but also increase the risk of mistakes due to fatigue.

Upon discovering that Ye Xiu had been working for nearly twenty days straight, Wang Yanchao was furious and gave the doctors and nurses in the clinic a severe reprimand.

"From now on, no doctor can work more than seven consecutive days without taking a day off!"

Wang Yanchao issued a strict order: Ye Xiu must take a day off after working a maximum of seven days.

Ye Xiu felt both touched and helpless by this command. He was grateful because he knew Wang Yanchao was looking out for him, but he felt helpless because he genuinely was fine. He couldn't explain this to Wang Yanchao due to the strict prohibition from his mentor about revealing his practice of the Longevity Technique.

Unused to the idea of resting and accustomed to going to work every day, Ye Xiu found himself at a loss on his sudden day off. After completing his morning training, he instinctively drove to the hospital. It wasn't until he was halfway there that he remembered he was supposed to be resting today.

Well, since he was almost at the hospital, he decided to go anyway and perhaps join Director Wang on his rounds to learn from him. It had been a while since he last did that. Ever since he started at the outpatient clinic, he rarely had the chance to follow Wang Yanchao on rounds. Initially, he could occasionally join Wang Yanchao in the evenings when he finished work early, but as he got busier, those opportunities vanished.

Driving into the hospital parking lot, Ye Xiu took the elevator, intending to go to the fourth floor of the respiratory department. However, as he reached out to press the button, he paused.

He suddenly remembered that today was the surgery day for Mr. Feng, the patient who had been transferred to neurosurgery. Mr. Feng had mentioned it to him yesterday, and Ye Xiu had almost forgotten in his busyness.

He decided to go encourage Mr. Feng and his father before the surgery. He could join Director Wang later.

Checking the time and confirming he was not too late, Ye Xiu smiled and pressed the button for the neurosurgery floor.

"Dr. Ye!"

In the patient room, Mr. Feng, who was nervously trying to comfort his father, lit up with joy upon seeing Ye Xiu and quickly welcomed him in. "Dr. Ye, what brings you here?"

"I came to give Mr. Feng some encouragement," Ye Xiu said with a smile as he approached the bed where the elder Mr. Feng lay, looking touched. "Mr. Feng, don't worry. Relax. Your surgery will be a success. Today, Dr. Zhao will be performing the surgery. She may be young, but she is an exceptionally skilled doctor."

"Thank you, Dr. Ye!"

The elder Mr. Feng's voice was weak, but he managed to thank Ye Xiu. "I'm old, and if I don't make it, it's fine. At least I won't be a burden anymore."

Ye Xiu smiled and replied, "You can't talk like that, Mr. Feng. You still have many good years ahead, at least another ten or twenty! And you're no burden. An elder in the family is a treasure. Isn't that right, Mr. Feng?"

Watching Ye Xiu comfort his father, Mr. Feng felt his eyes well up with emotion. He had never met a doctor as compassionate as Ye Xiu. Yesterday, he had mentioned the surgery to Ye Xiu out of courtesy, not expecting Ye Xiu to show up early in the morning to encourage his father.

He didn't know what to say, and barely registered Ye Xiu's words, just nodding repeatedly.

"Mr. Feng! Are you ready?"

Just as Mr. Feng was feeling overwhelmed with gratitude, a loud voice came from the door.

"Yes! We're ready!" Mr. Feng recognized the voice of Dr. Chen, the intern assisting Dr. Zhao, and quickly responded.

"Good, we're going to take Mr. Feng to the operating room now."

Dr. Chen entered, holding a clipboard and followed by two nurses. As he spoke and noted something on his clipboard, the nurses began preparing to move the elder Mr. Feng.

"All set, we can go anytime," Mr. Feng said quickly.

"Great, let's head out now and get prepped early," Dr. Chen instructed, motioning to the nurses who efficiently detached some of the monitoring equipment and started moving the elder Mr. Feng's bed towards the door. Mr. Feng helped with the preparations.

"Mr. Feng, I'll head out now. Let me know when the surgery is over. I'll be waiting for the good news."

As Mr. Feng's bed was moved out, Ye Xiu released his hand and said his goodbyes.

"Thank you so much, Dr. Ye! I'll inform you as soon as the surgery is done!" Mr. Feng responded gratefully.

Dr. Ye?

Which Dr. Ye?

Hearing Mr. Feng's words, Dr. Chen, who had been focused on his clipboard, looked up in surprise, glancing towards Ye Xiu.

As he saw Ye Xiu, he froze as if struck by lightning, his eyes widening in shock. It was as if he had seen an alien.

This… this person…

Isn't he the one who performed that surgery?!

Even though nearly twenty days had passed, and while the surgery hadn't impacted him as profoundly as it had Dr. Zhao, the unique circumstances and Dr. Zhao's subsequent efforts to locate Ye Xiu had left an indelible impression on Dr. Chen.
