The Strongest Beta is My Luna

Every 3 years, warriors from packs all over the world were forced to attend the cruel training camp ran by the ruthless Avondale pack. Knowing only few could survive, Clare Miller volunteered to go in her brother’s stead. She vowed to defeat the ruthless alpha, Leonel Wood, after she became the strongest beta. However, when it was time to choose where her loyalties lie, her mind was made up but her heart had a different answer. *** “Mate,” he commanded and I froze. His hand cupped my cheek firmly. The fire in his eyes raged between anger and understanding, judgment and mercy, life and death… “What do you want?” I asked. My heart thundered as I waited for the verdict. Slowly his thumb ran over my lips and his hand smoothed a hot trail from my cheek through the valley between my breasts over my belly and lower. "You." His eyes held mine as the heat rose inside of me. "But I don’t always get to make the easy choice.” “You always have the choice.” I looked him in the eye. “Until now.”

Chapter 50: Hidden Weapons

Leonel POV

Blood.

Teeth.

Claws.

Everything was a blur around me as I sped past in my wolf form, leaving mangled bodies in my wake.

Clare followed closely behind me, cleaning up anything I missed and intercepting any that posed a problem.

I had to admit, she was pretty badass and I was glad she was here. I was a real ass to her all day, letting my fear of her being hurt take over my emotions. But when she spoke to me, I knew she had a point. And looking at her now, all of my fear was alleviated, and I was in total awe of what my Luna could do.

She was also right that having her in my sights at all times was comforting in a sense. If she had been left behind, I would have worried about a potential sneak attack or any number of other things.

Just then, a she-wolf snapped toward my feet, catching me off guard, but Clare swooped in with her speed and slashed through her neck before she was even a threat to me. I smiled toward her and she gave me a returning grin.
