Chapter 4 - Bad News or Good News?

"The cops are staging a coup?"

"Y-yes.... And...."

"And what?"

"There's a second problem. I slightly bigger one."

"What is it?"

"Umm, we have a zombie problem?"

"What??? Zombies as in like, the ones who infect people in the movies?"

"Uhhh, yeah."

"Huh, I don't know how to feel about that?"

I was confused.

'Shouldn't I be scared shitless?'

No, it was probably not a thing to be afraid of at this point.

Zombies were popular in old movies, but at some point, technology had far surpassed the horror of zombies.

"Are the zombies widespread? Is it the virus type of zombies?"

I asked Jack curiously.

"They're still not widespread yet. I think it's the virus type. One of our guys saw someone getting bitten and turning into one."

"Good, now we have the justification we were looking for."

"Boss, are you a prophet?"

"No, it's just my luck finally getting better."

Earlier, when I was discussing the plan with the others, I mentioned that there might be something major that would happen.

When that major event happens, our Abyss would then have a justification to move out into the public.

After all, normal people saw us as heinous criminals. If we were to take over the city without any proper justification, they wouldn't want to support us.

I thought that the major event would be something lesser in scale, such as riots between the citizens and the police, or the leftover military and government officials enacting an oppressive state of emergency.

I didn't expect that the police would try to take over the city before us and a zombie virus outbreak to happen all of a sudden.

'Where did the virus even come from? We're on an island, so it must've either leaked from a lab or it came from this new world.'

'Anyway, now that the police is occupied with fighting the leftover military and government, the citizens are left to fight the zombies on their own. Our Abyss can act like a protector to these citizens, thus making ourselves look favorable to them.'

'Plus, who knows, maybe I can also recruit them into Abyss. The more manpower we have, the better.'

"Jack, tell everyone to prepare for a fight. Try to contact our 20,000 other employees and gather all those surrendered guys. Use all the weapons we can get from the bug guys' stash. We need more people, and more weapons."

I ordered Jack while going down the stairs to prepare myself.

"Also, tell the others to kill any zombie they see and secure the entire Blackhole area. Warn them to not mess around just because the zombies look weak, don't create more zombies."

"Okay Boss!"

He answered while saluting.

Jack was a very muscular guy, but he was quite dumb. He was also only 17 years old.

'I picked him up since he was a homeless orphan, never thought he'd be this big in just 3 years.'

Jack had numerous edgy tattoos on his entire body, but his personality was the opposite. Apparently, he even managed to get 3 girlfriends.

'Maybe I should also get a tattoo.'

****

"KWEEEEERRGGHH!!!"

I spotted a zombie behind the corner of a random alleyway.

I then swung a fire hatchet, cleanly splitting its head.

'I don't need to waste bullets on these guys.'

"Connor!!!"

I shouted loudly towards the streets.

"Yes Boss??"

"Come here for a sec!"

As Connor ran to me, I pointed at the stuck hatchet.

"Could you pull that for me? I'm too grossed out."

The zombie looked and smelled rotten, causing me to gag.

"Alright...."

He replied, while holding his gag reflex.

'We're smugglers, we don't do hits nor are we cleaners. I don't think I'll be able to kill these guys at close range. Oh, what the fuck is that???'

The hatchet was pulled out by Connor and there was black lump stuck to the zombie's brain matter.

"HWUEEEK..... HWUUEEEEKKKK...."

Connor puked.

"HUURRGGGHHH!!"

I also puked.

'Is that a parasite???'

'I thought the zombies were biting to spread themselves? Maybe they have eggs in their saliva??'

"BLEEERRGGHH!!!"

I continued to puke while looking at the dead black parasite.

"C-Connor, you use that axe."

I told him while wiping my vomit-covered mouth.

He looked at the fire hatchet and tried to smell it.

"HWUEEEK...."

He almost puked again, and then stared at me pleadingly.

"B-Boss.... please...."

"If you don't then I'll deduct your salary."

"But aren't we.... in another world? Money is...."

"Shush, I'll keep using money, we need to have an economy."

"Okay...."

He surrendered his fate to the rotten-smelling fire hatchet.

****

"Aim for their heads!!!"

I yelled to my "employees".

We were currently killing a zombie horde.

'I didn't expect it to get this bad. What were those stupid cops thinking???'

It was currently 6 PM, two days after being transported to this world.

We managed to confirm that we were truly in another world.

When night came, we saw that there were 2 moons in the sky. Moreover, the stars were so bright that the night sky looked astonishingly like a wallpaper.

I confirmed my previous inkling that our galaxy was in the middle of colliding with another galaxy. That was why the night sky was so bright.

"SHOOT THEM ALL!!!!"

I yelled as I unloaded my magazine.

Bullets were raining towards the running zombie horde.

For some stupid reason, the police and the weakened military annihilated each other, leaving only a sparse few alive. While this was happening, the corpses of these dead people were either being transformed by the zombies or were eaten by them.

The zombies ate more people and suddenly became stronger while also selectively spreading their parasites into some corpses, resulting in a rapid spread of zombies.

Suddenly, the people fighting widened their eyes.

"Z-Z-ZOMBIE DRAGOOOONNNS!!!!!"

One of them yelled and pointed at the sky.

"BRING IN THE ARTILLERY!!!"

I yelled, my throat was sore.

'Can my luck get any worse???'

As if fighting strengthened zombies weren't enough, the local inhabitants of this world also managed to get infected by the zombie parasite.

I got goosebumps man, I got goosebumps.
