Chapter 3 - Dreams Are Meant to Be Fulfilled

A few hours after the announcement, I was on the rooftop of our Sunshine Tourism Co. building.

Time was moving forward and the Sun was setting.

'Man, I still can't believe that the Sun is setting in the East.'

'To think this is all not a dream.'

Prior to moving to Pandora, I was just a normal guy who worked in a tech company as a software engineer.

I somehow won a lottery that my friend bought for me on my birthday. Obviously, I kept it a secret from him, because he would definitely want the money.

Long story short, I quit my job to open up a business.

My lottery prize was huge. Minus all the taxes, it roughly gave me 18 million usd.

I'm an orphan, so I grew up without any feeling of belonging.

It had always been a dream of mine to live in a luxury mansion with a family of my own.

Pandora has always advertised itself as a place with people living the most luxurious lives on Earth.

Royalties, powerful politicians, billionares, and almost every elite of the elite lived on Pandora.

So, it was obvious for me where I could make my dreams come true.

Upon finding out that they were gatekeeping the immigration to Pandora, I had to spend 5 million dollars just to smuggle myself in.

Insane? Yes, it was. But at the time, my motivation to make my dreams come true were truly unstoppable.

However, I would admit that my dreams were crushed the moment I set foot into the city.

When I was being smuggled, I had given away too much information.

At first, the smugglers were pretty nice people. They asked about how life was going and what made me come to the island.

And since I was being smuggled on a yacht ship, they offered me various luxuries.

But because I had never felt such kind attitude, I became too complacent with myself.

I was too arrogant and was bragging too much about how I was going to set up a tourism business in Pandora.

I didn't realize that it had another meaning with these smugglers. I was fucking stupid.

Tourism was simply one of the many different ways that these smugglers disguise their business as.

Yep, they thought I was bragging about becoming their competition.

Obviously, they didn't show it in their faces, but their mood definitely soured.

I didn't realize until a couple years later that those same guys told my stupid braggings to their boss, who then, proceeded to rob all my belongings and threatened to kill me if I didn't empty all the money in my savings account.

I lost all my money that day, and was stranded on the island without anything to my name.

Afterwards, I ran straight to the nearest police station and told them all about what had transpired.

Unfortunately, they weren't able to help me.

No, they didn't want to help me.

Because I entered Pandora through dubious means, there was no legal record of me entering. Because I had no records, they couldn't legally help me.

And because of the legal loophole of all UN citizens being instantly allowed as Pandora's legal citizens, even after my identity was confirmed through the internet, the best thing they could do was to offer me a renewed citizenship ID.

But even making a simple ID required money, which I had none of.

I even begged them to arrest me so that I could at least have shelter and food, but they refused me because I apparently had not commited any crimes according to the laws.

The cop who was talking to me at the time had no idea how much I wanted to punch his face just so that he could arrest me. But the me at the time was afraid of physical conflict.

I ended up begging for food at the streets for a week, until the cops chased me away. It was apparently illegal for people to beg in the streets of Pandora.

I begged them to just arrest me, but they knew who I was and refused to do it.

They probably hated people like me, so that was why they only chased me away with electric batons.

I ended up in the streets of The Blackhole after being chased by the cops multiple times.

I spent the next 1.5 years starting as a lowly crook, slowly growing my influnce through illegal jobs.

I even found out that the smugglers who brought me to Pandora was run by the Triads.

After finding out, I was blinded by rage and made it my sole mission to fuck up the Triads.

I started making a company called Sunshine Tourism Co., which originally lined up with my goal of setting up a tourism company.

I absorbed a lot of small gangs, thugs, homeless people, and even ordinary Pandora citizens into my company.

I shifted my focus towards taking away the main income source of the Triads, the smuggling.

I succeeded little by little, until suddenly, my Sunshine Tourism Co. became the 5th largest organization in the entire Pandora underworld.

The main headquarters, located in The Blackhole, had 350+ "employees", while another 20,000 employees were employed in various legal businesses across the island through subsidiary companies.

My revenge was going smoothly.

Until that fucking octopus made everything meaningless.

'I guess this is where I let go of my revenge.'

'Even though I might be wrong and we might still be on Earth, at least The Blackhole has no big owners now.'

'Even if the Triads, the Mafia, or the Yakuzas come back, I will have a full grasp in this entire region by then.'

'That octopus might be the biggest blessing the universe has given to me.'

"Boss!"

Jack shouted, his eyes filled with joy and his body full of sweat.

"Did you run all the way up to the rooftop?"

"Yeah, I always forget that we have an elevator. It's good exercise anyway."

"So? What's the news?"

"We did it, Boss. The fucking small guys surrendered. They agreed to join us."

"Good, good."

"But uhh, there's one small problem."

"What is it?"

"The cops are staging a coup."

"??????"

I intended to upload this tomorrow, but I couldn't sit still because of how filler this chapter might look like. I needed to still get the main character's background out as soon as possible(without spoiling some other things) so that we can move on to the actual plot. Think of it as a bonus chapter. :D
