Chapter 4:

"Who?" Amire still seemed to not click with the situation as the other two continued to stare at one another. "Is she the person we were interviewing?"

"More like I'm interviewing y'all." Mother Hemmingway placed her hands under her face, almost making a carriage for it. "Well more like you..." She lifted her sad, deprived of life finger at Zoey. "You made the appointment after all." Zoey only nodded at the hag's words. Feeling confused, yet intrigued, she stepped up to the table that divided the two.

"Are you sure you can read what I asked?" Hemingway waved the girls' words once again, but instead her face bloomed more and more red as she processed the question.

"Of course, I'm not a simpleton." The woman slammed her hand on the table. Zoey could swear that Amire almost jumped. "Even a simple clairvoyant can see where anyone is." She pointed her finger to a chair that rested in the corner. The Spanish-Viridian colored object looked as if just planting one ounce of your weight on it would shatter it like glass. Surrounded by piles and piles of paper, some were so old, it could pass as the declaration itself. Zoey walked over and clumped all the paper together before placing them on what could be assumed as a table.

"Alright," Zoey sits the chair down as the woman begins to speak. "Lend me your hand and let's get started." Feeling uneasy because of the atmosphere and the chair Zoey does what the woman commands. Mother Hemmingway's skin felt cold against hers, it almost felt like she was touching an already rotting corpse. Her skin felt leathery as she ran her hands to and fro of Zoey's skin. Out of the corner of her eye, she sees the shiver that Amire made through her body. It almost made Zoey shiver herself, but she kept calm in spite.

"Do we do anything else or..."

"Quiet child." The woman hushed Amire quicker than a tiger hunting its prey. "We need only silence." The room fell silent after that. A matter of fact, it seemed the world had followed suit. Around them, not a bird chirped, not a single car whirred pass, heck not even the wind felt so brave as to blow on a sheet of paper. Silence. Zoey's mind began to focus on that one thing and one thing only.

Silence.

Silence.

Silence.

Zoey closed her eyes to remark on the stillness that was her mind, for it has never been this still. Silence seemed to be one thing she could count on. There was no stress, no fear, no... nothing. Zoey smiled. She would do anything to achieve this silence. Whether it was leaving something behind, or leaving herself... for good. She took a deep breath, happy that for once her mind wasn't filled to the brim of thoughts that littered her brain like a football stadium after its highlight game of the year. It almost felt as if she was falling. Slipping deeper and deeper into a nice blanket that she could finally see herself lying in. She looked to her right to see if Amire was feeling the same, instead only a window awaited her.

"What is this?" The newly placed girl looked out around the new area. Instead of the tent they worked hard to track down, she was surrounded by wooden walls with canvases of newly painted art evenly placed all around. Other than the single window, a door was placed adjacent to it. It's probably locked. That's how most rooms like this work. Zoey, still feeling quite unsure of where she was, stood up to see the outside. The fact that she might look outrageous to the others slipped from her mind as soon as she saw what lies beyond the house.

In front of her, was a night sky. Seemed pretty simple, but this one was... different. The skies above her were painted with different shades of blue, purple and pink. Heck if she looked hard enough, she could see even different colors in the mix. The yard, although it was greatly overgrown, was a nice bluish-green. Sparkles of little light flared between each blade almost as if speaking in morse code. The air out there seemed nice..., but even then something wasn't right. She couldn't place her finger on it, but something wasn't there. Was it her? Was it something she needed? What was it? Zoey's mind began to race hastily as she looked to the door for answers. Unlike before, the door was now wide open, leading her to the place where she could explore more. No one was there to open it? If there were, I would've seen them, I had to. Feeling brave, yet scared she ran into the field of overgrown grass.
