King Askild waited for Ragnar to come after Ivan's report but he never came, the night passed and the scouts didn't report any movement from Ragnar's camp.
They had set up a perimeter but Ragnar never bypassed this so they had no way of knowing what his next move was.
"There is no movement, King Askild. I do not think King Ragnar is coming…" A man reported but what was more concerning was that Bjorn was yet to return.
He had spent a night there but Ivan's report told him that the relationship between father and son was strained.
This was due to the earlier misunderstanding they had but this misinformation told Askild that Bjorn was still loyal to him.
This gave him no reason to doubt Bjorn was going to return and maybe it was Bjorn that had something to do with this delayed attack.
After all, he was Ragnar's son and there was no way Ragnar would put his son to death for speaking against him, that was what made Bjorn such an effective pawn.
