New Murder

Morning at 4:30 am..

Ring ring... the phone ranged and I woke up, and saw Fred's name on the screen. I knew what had happened. I picked up the phone. "Hello."

"Hello, be ready, I'll be there in 10 mins, we have one more case." Fred said it in a rush and ended the call before I could reply.

I sighed and get out of bed, in next 10 mins I got ready and was downstairs. I was feeling sleepy, but this case was much important. As Fred said, he was there in 10 mins. I got in the car and asked, "What happened? Who is the victim? "

Fred replied, "It's female, Miss. Avery Johnsen, age 37, shifted to Dedham 2 months ago, and she was an important member of special police department in L.A. And because of that L. A government is pressuring us for finding the killer early. "

I asked, "What about her family?"

"She has a husband and one daughter, husband is living in Scotland, and the daughter is in New York. But interesting, this is she shifted here alone." We stopped at the red light, and he turned to me.

"I guess family problems?" I was sure of my guess, because many times it happens. Fred shrugged, and the light became green.

"Maybe you're right, we called them here. Let's see what they have to say." Fred spoke while concentrating on the road.

"Who called the station?"

"Unknown call again and yes, a note is left for you." My sleep flew away after hearing that, my brain started to work rapidly again.

"Both were ladies, both times the unknown call was made, and this note thing. He is not afraid of getting caught. He really thinks he is smart." I was thinking to myself, and Fred called me. I snapped out of my thoughts and looked outside of the window. There was one big villa, but at nighttime it did not look less than a haunted house. I got out of the car and shivered at the touch of the cold air.

The officers I met last time greeted us. Fred asked them regular questions about investigation. I looked around and realised that the was here. I pulled out my mini torch, and started to walk towards the gate. I crossed the yellow tapes going inside. I started to search the ground for any foot prints, I knew one thing that he was not a fool to leave his footprints, but still I was trying, and I found success. I got behind the trees planted near the villa's backside, and saw the mess there. I observed a bit more closely and got that there were footprints, but he made sure to mess with them. I got discouraged again.

I walked to front of villa again and saw Fred and two officers were still talking. I went to them and asked, "Can we go inside and see the body first?"

They all looked towards me, "Yes, we can." Officer Ben said. And we all started to walk towards the villa.

"And yes, you have a note again." Officer James said and hold the evidence bag in front of me. I put my hand forward to take it, but Fred stopped me. "uh huh, wear the gloves first." He handed me the gloves, I wore them, and took the evidence bag in my hand. I started to read the note.

"Again I won. I told you, you can't catch me at all. I'm smarter than you. I'm sure you are thinking, how can I be so fearless? Hmmm keep thinking, I have to plan the next murder. See you next week honey, bye." I clench the note in my hand, thoughts running at top speed now.

"Loveena." A voice brought me out of my thoughts. I got startled and looked in the direction of the voice. Fred was calling me. " you ok?"

I nodded. "Let's go then." He said, and we all started to walk towards the villa. We entered the hall and started to walk upstairs. The body was in the bathroom again. The crime scene was messy, and it was the same as the previous one, the body was in the bathtub, headless, and same sentence "She made A Mistake, and she paid for it." This time A was in capital letter.

My head was spinning now, I was blank. I was not even interested in the crime scene cause I knew we would not find anything. I was feeling down. I felt like we were not getting a single clue. Just these letters, capital letters and done. My head was pounding hard. I was feeling sleepy.

"Let's go Loveena."

"Fred, can you drop me at the cafe?" I asked, while massaging my temples.

"You ok?" He asked in a worried tone.

"Yes I'm good, just a headache. A good hot coffee will fix it. Drop me at a cafe, so I can have coffee and talk with my friends too."

"Ok, let's go." Fred said as we got in the car.

We came to the cafe very early, the staff was setting the cafe, Fred turned off the car.

"It's complicated, isn't it?" He said while looking at me. I looked down at my hands and then up at him.

"A little, to be honest." I said while taking my phone out and typing out the message on the group.

"What are we gonna do now?" I looked at him, surprised.

"What are you looking at? Surprised, huh? " he laughed out, and I laughed a little too. It was really a big surprise that he was asking me what to do next.

"It was really surprise, but really that's a question. What to do next?" I said, while rubbing the ring on my finger. Fred put a hand on my hand.

"Don't worry, we will find a way." He said with a tired voice.

"Go home, you need a good sleep, I'll go to the cafe now it's all set." Before he could speak anything, I cut him off. "I know you have been busy, so you need rest. Go home." I smiled and got out of the car. "Take care, have a good rest." I went into the cafe, and sat at our regular table. Waiting for everyone to come.
