Chapter 8 - Bereavement

Our visas arrived on time, and Vijay, Nirvesh and I were on our way as scheduled. I was glad to be with Vijay, because that meant we got all the updates almost real time.

Firdaus had not yet woken up. It was worrying, because some of the relatives were beginning to take the stand that if Firdaus was incapacitated, the entire business should be relegated to them. It was disgusting.

The ever practical Vijay, had, of course, anticipated this scenario, and had arranged for round-the-clock protection for Firdaus the moment he had heard the news. Besides, Rudra, Latika and Judith, the British lawyer, were keeping a close eye on the injured man.

London looked exactly how you would imagine it to be. Though it was my first visit, the city felt irrationally familiar; radiating a strange sense of homecoming. It was unusual.

We were met at Heathrow by Paul, the company chauffeur. Paul was rather nice, and he pointed out the landmarks as he drove us to "Bart's".
