"Look, I have plenty of space. Why don't you guys stay here for a while and mull things over? It is highly unlikely your uncle will be able to track you here, isn't it? It will also give you a chance to recuperate. I am not sure Mita will clear you for travel yet." I tried to sound as reasonable and calm as I could.
Adi hadn't released his grip on my arm yet.
"Thank you for the noble offer, but I would prefer not to be indebted to you any further," Veer sneered. "I assure you adequate compensation will be made available to you once I have my life back in order."
The urge to slap him was overwhelming.
"No compensation is required or did you forget that I am your sister-in-law?" I spat. "You can come and go as you please, but Adi is not only family, but my friend as well, and he will stay here until he has recovered. As my friend's brother, you are welcome to stay."
"I will not put you in danger!" Veer snapped.
"I have a gun," I retorted.
