The Servant's General

A world set in the ages of warring kingdoms, in this novel you can expect a unique power trope, combat & action, strategy, a bit of kingdom politics and most importantly... No Harem. I took inspiration from works such as Kingdom and The Heroic Legend of Arslan. I'd hoped for more manga or novels that have a progress focused kingdom archetype but there hasn't been any recently so I decided to try one for myself. This novel is something I'm not too deeply invested in, but I'll keep writing for as long as people enjoy it. I'll probably write around 10-20 chapters before deciding if I'll continue or not based on feedback. [Chapter Schedule: 3-5 Per Week] [Novel Cover Image is not mine, it is a placeholder.]

Remos Prefecture X Soldier Rosh

The 1000-Man Battalion encampment in the city of Elos by the sea is the levied force of the region. There is a mix of soldiers who came to serve by requirement and those who came seeking glory and wealth on their own.

Remos Prefecture was the land belonging to Lord Kazan Remos, and this city was the centerpiece of his lands. When the kingdom required forces from the Lord either for defending the lands or conquering their enemies it was the 1000-Man Battalion that was sent out in support.

Inside of the encampment were a few hundreds of tents and soldiers running around haggardly by their team leaders, and in one corner of the camp Kelle ran into his future captain.

"Hey! If my guess is right, you're the one the seer picked up for us?"

After Kelle found his way around he finally walked up to this captain, he looks a bit intimidating with his ragged soldier attire but Kelle didn't seem to take note of anything in his excitement to start training.

"I am! The name is Kelle. When can I start training?" Kelle quickly yelled out as the captain stood in front of a small group.

After he said the words, the captain's face turned into a slight frown, 'What's up with this guy's lack of respect? Did he grow up in the sewers?'

Kelle stared at him intently and didn't notice as one of the men behind the captain came up and shoved him into the ground face-first.

Kelle let out a breath as the air was forced out of his lungs and dirt stuck to his face. 'W-what just happened?'

Kelle quickly picked himself up and moved towards the heavyset man, aggressively blinded by the rage, remembering the trio of guards who trampled him. "I'll kill you!"

Not expecting Kelle to react so aggressively, the soldier was about to strike at him- "Both of you stop now."

Both of them stopped to look at the captain who had called out.

"Rosh, you should know where he was picked up. The boy doesn't know military etiquette yet; it should be expected."

"And Kelle, you should learn to calm your anger. If we go out to battle and you end up losing your wits and fly into a rage at the smallest thing we'll just go ahead and remove the potential problem now." the captain threatened as he touched the scabbard at his side.

'They want to kill me just because I didn't bow down to them or something?' Kelle was feeling extreme anger but also was a bit confused because he genuinely didn't know what he had done.

Nonetheless, seeing the captain's battle-hardened gaze, Kelle knew he might really strike at him with the intent to kill.

Kelle swallowed his rage and nodded stiffly. "I'm sorry... um- sir. It won't happen again." his voice was tight with the effort of trying to conceal his true thoughts.

The captain eyed him for a moment longer and, seeing his seemingly constipated face, had a snicker of amusement. 'I was just bluffing and would've at most knocked him out, but this kid isn't too bad. I just hope he and Rosh don't get into a conflict from this.'

"Good. I don't care what kind of past you had as a servant; from today onwards, you are a soldier, and any of that emotional baggage crap is going to be left at the door before you step onto the battlefield." the captain spoke aloud and took a look back and forth between them.

"Come and see me over at my quarters when you've calmed down," he said as he walked back to his tent.

Rosh looked at the kid and thought 'This runt looks so frail, hopefully I can see some of his blood in the next battle.' as he sneered at him and backed off and walked towards the gawking eyes of the rest of the team.

Kelle side-eyed him as he started walking towards the captain's quarters, trying to catch up.

He silently thought to himself as he still felt the dirt staining his face, making the scar running over his eye tinge with pain. 'I need to become stronger and fast. How many more times am I going to allow myself to be ridiculed and tossed around like a piece of garbage before I have the strength to stand up for myself...'

He steeled his resolve as he vowed to become strong enough to protect himself.
