She was still panting, and sweat trickled down the side of her face. The drumming in her chest continued as she tried to calm her nerves. She swallowed hard to conquer the building lump in her throat. Her mouth was dry, though. She exhaled loudly as she pushed her hair out of her face. She closed her eyes as she rubbed her temple from the rising ache of her head.
Carmen was assisted by another girl from the nearest bed in Melisca's area. She grunted at the pain of the impact.
"Did you do that on purpose to Carmen? She was just trying to wake you!" One of the girls that stood up exclaimed at her.
Melisca remained silent as she continued to caress her forehead to soothe the banging pain in her head. She gritted her teeth. Her other hand was clenching and unclenching.
"Hey! We're talking to you!" The girl was about to stomp towards her bed, but her companion held her arm and blocked her.
