You have grown now: Part III

After the growth spurt incident and the Emissary's visit, George realised he had less time than he thought to prepare Reagan for the battle ahead. He spent less time teaching her the art of leadership and more time training her in light user techniques. He found that she was a born user of dark energy, but her light techniques, though impressive for her age, were weaker than her death spectral energy.

On this day of training, they were suddenly interrupted by Margaret, who rushed in to deliver an official invitation to the Lagini boy's coronation as head of the Tenebros. She was outraged to see Reagan on the floor coughing blood after her husband had released the Crimson Light, a level between the Weight of Light and the Blue Light.

She tried to go to him and stop it, but George said in a commanding tone, "Stay out of this, woman... The child must break the spell or die". Reagan struggled, but she was determined to prove her worth to her old man. She slowly got to her feet and with all the strength she had, she summoned the Blue Light Omen, the lowest level of it. It was strong enough to shatter the crimson light. Then she fell to her knees and shouted, "Look, Geezer! I am better than you.". George laughed proudly, "There it is. Let's try that again!". With a devilish smile on his face, he was on the verge of unleashing something stronger when Margaret protested, "Darling... that is enough.". She feared her husband, but her love for Rea was greater. George scoffed and said, "What brings you here anyway?". She gave him the invitation and went to Rea's side, using her healing powers to mend her wounds, which were surprisingly minor. Her husband was careful not to target her vital areas. That is George for you... severe but mindful.

George, looking at the invitation, said: "Have my tailor make a suitable uniform and a suit for Reagan. Also, have her hair cut so she looks less wild. I will take her with us to the coronation." Margaret smiled but still asked, "Are you sure it is safe?

He replied carelessly, "It is the safest she will be. Besides, she is my protégée and she is old enough to make her debut in high society. Margaret said, "I will have my dressmaker make you the most beautiful dress and she will do your hair. You will be so beautiful".

George raised his eyebrow, waiting for Reagan's reaction. She made a face of disgust and said, "I'm going with his grumpiness on this one. I want a uniform and a suit. My hair needs a trim anyway." George chuckled triumphantly and walked away muttering, "Well said raccoon.".

rest of the day passed quickly. George was in his office, working out the last details of the various orders of the mission. Margaret made the final arrangements for the trip. Reagan revised the families history books and practiced her etiquette with Elisa.

Later that day, George called Reagan into his office. After inviting her to sit down, he said: "Tomorrow will be one of the most dangerous days of our lives. Everything will depend on your ability to control yourself and stay out of trouble. As my protégée, you will be expected to behave at all times. You will be watched. Any faux pas will be our undoing."

Reagan crossed her arms and said nonchalantly, "We've done this rodeo before. I know the script... My Lord." He chuckled and handed her a box. She opened it and said, "Are you going soft on me, Geezer? George grinned and said, "As I was saying, my protégée has rights. This ring bears my crest. Enforce respect but do not engage in petty games. Understand?". Reagan, feeling emotional, could not speak but simply nodded. Then he sent her to bed and resumed his work.

She went to her bedroom, sealed the door with a spell her grandmother had taught her, and removed her artifacts. Exhaling sharply, she stretched and looked at her eyes in the mirror on the wall and murmured, "I would give these eyes just to be part of this family. At least they love me. I will make the Laginis pay for forsaking me. She wore that ring and smiled as she said:" I could almost pass for a Winstor with this. I would have to go bald and blind thou". She lay on her bed, dreaming of what her life might have been like if she hadn't been born a Lagini, just a Winstor among other Winstors.

She was told that the Laginis, fearing her powers, tried to have her killed, but George took her in and hid her against the wishes of his son, who ended up hating him for it. Another lie that will come back to bite the Winstor in the ass.
