Chimera

What exactly are spirits?

Well, they are special creatures that have a special connection with mana and elemental energy. However, there was one thing that I was able to figure out before I killed the demon star. I was experimenting with ether and the spirit I was contracted with in Arcadia was able to use ether to a certain extent.

With the spell I created, I thought that my world may not have much mana thus I wasn't expecting him to be here. But when I saw the density of mana I was surprised that Alter didn't come.

However, I realized that there were 2 problems.

1, I didn't have the materials necessary to summon one.

2. What if the spirit is useless? That's why I went to the spirit world in Arcadia. But I also can't just get into the spirit world now due to time.

I'm not exactly sure of the time difference but it changed frequently for all I know if I spent an hour in there a year would pass here.

This left me with one option I had to get a summon.

"With my mana reserves, I can at least have 10 summons,"

Summons were creatures that were summoned from a realm called "the dreamscape". Not much was known about it and no one knew how to traverse it. However, I was then told by the dragon king Oroboros that the dreamscape was not real.

He said that we were creating creatures from mana. They were created from our imagination. And he was right.

"Let's just summon 2,"

Raising my hand I felt the mana drain from my body. After a while a tall cloaked figure was crouching while trying not to touch the roof. It was wearing some sort of white mask and a sword on its waist.

"oh hey you are here," I said surprised

'I can summon my previous summons?'

When Alter was gone I thought my summons were also gone but seems I was wrong.

His name is Lumine and he is a sun elf. Or well he was supposed to be, I had created him so that he could help me in the fight with the Demon Star which means he actually isn't an elf but a creature made of pure mana.

He was too big to walk but he started to glow before he shrank and slowly turned into something else. Heading toward me I caught the necklace or well tried to it hit palm before it hit the couch..

Picking up the necklace and putting it on I then thought about what else to summon. However, remembering the rest of the summons I sighed "Alright let's call him,"

Raising my hand I summoned another monster. On my table, a giant black crow appeared with its giant wings spread. His golden eyes looked at me "Master,"

Hearing the voice which sounded like a parrot I nodded "Rock, I have a job for you,"

Trying to make a salute with its wings I told him what to do "Go investigate the city,"

Nodding the giant bird started to flap its wings, I then Opened the door and soared into the night sky.

I then ordered some food from my phone "Let's see what I will be able to find,"

*Grrr*

Hearing the growl Keir immediately turned around and saw 2 crimson-red eyes peering at him. Then the stench hit him.

At first, it was amazing like sweet honey but then it turned disgusting as if there was a dog that hadn't been cleaned for months.

Before Keir could react pitch black claws appeared in front of him. Ducking under the attack he looked at the creature that attacked him. The thing looked like a werewolf however, it was pitch black and it had horns rather than ears. A tail made of scales tipped with a spike.

"You aren't the delicious one," The beast's ruff voice said with something Keir could only think of as a frown.

An irritated expression appeared on Keir's face before his eyes turned a crimson red. Shadows started to move and turned into a spear. Using one of his techniques he appeared in front of the beast and thrust his weapon.

However, his spear collided with the sharp tip of the tail. Suddenly his body turned into shadows before he appeared behind the beast but he immediately jumped back dodging the tail. Before he could do anything else its claws slashed over his chest.

Blood poured on the floor however, the wound on his chest regenerated.

The beast then quickly grabbed Keir and tried to squeeze him to death. However, Keir then turned into a shadow and disappeared.

Forming again Keir was paler. Using his speed his claws started to become longer and darker due to the shadows. Slashing downward a giant gash appeared on the beast causing it to let out a yelp. Jumping over it a spear made of shadows appeared in his hand again before he thrust downward causing it to pierce the beast's head.

When Keir landed on the floor he dusted his expensive suit "How bo-pft"

Looking down Keir's eyes widened. A giant claw made of pure darkness was piercing through him. While coughing up blood he looked behind to see the creature still alive and kicking.

But then Keir came to a sudden realization. He couldn't move.

Before he could do anything else he turned into black mist before he was absorbed by the beast. Just as Keir disappeared so did the spear on its head. The wound left behind by the spear also disappeared along with the claw wounds.

"Disgusting,"

However, on a building a giant crow was looking down while its eyes reflected the scene.

I walked toward my workplace. While I could've used my teleportation spell I didn't want to get the attention of the vampires.

'Now that I think about it maybe I should get all the rules and regulations seen by the Magi Association'

However, I had no idea where that was so it was a lost cause. Besides I doubt that guy would've told me even if I asked.

Honestly, I should've asked about the vampires but it just slipped my mind.

"Wait what was his name again?" I then remembered I forgot to ask his name causing me to face palm "Guess I'm not as smart as I thought…"

I then recalled the information that was seen by Rock.

Firstly I knew what the beast was. It seemed to be some sort of chimra with mostly werewolf DNA. This means the dark arts also exist here which shouldn't be a surprise. But I was honestly more interested in the other vampire. It was pretty strong compared to the ones in Arcadia however, I'd say he would be an elite guard and nothing more. He was kinda arrogant thinking he killed it which led to his downfall.

Chimeras are different from hybrids or other monsters. Even if you blow its head off it would still be alive. Unlike other beings, its head and brain aren't vital to it. It's the core it is made out of. A Chimera's core is engraved with runes so if you want to kill it you'd have to destroy its core. If you pierce its head you'll just lower its intelligence that's it. No, what you need to do is destroy the core and watch as it proceeds to be killed by its body. But the cores are like a battery. They will run out of juice so in order to refill it they needed souls.

"Which explains all the killing" I mumbled

However, I didn't exactly know how strong it was but it was smart for sure. The way it slumped over and kneeled when the spear pierced its head. It pretended to be dead in the vampire's vision and when he looked away it used the dark elemental energy to paralyze it before it ate its soul.

"ugh, it's going to be more of a pain in the ass than I thought," Entering the restaurant I was greeted by Anna and then lead me into the back to meet a guy named "Davon".

He was handsome which isn't surprising considering he is a vampire. He had brown hair and golden eyes with a chiselled jaw.

If I had to guess it was his real name. Smiling toward me he held out his hand. Shakingit I said my fake name.

After a bit, he showed me how to clock in and everything else. Then we got to the part with the black cards.

"Alright so when someone offers you a card use this," he showed me a machine "If the card is accepted it'll turn green and if it does," he pointed at a buff man standing at a door "point toward him and tell them that he'll guide them,"

"Got it," nodding I then asked a question "but what happens if it's not accepted?"

"Well it'll turn red, there contact me or Anna through this," he then showed me how to do it.

I knew it was a bullshit explanation as I could sense some magic around it.

After training for the rest of my shift, I clocked out and once I put enough distance I used teleportation magic.

Considering I finished my final exam today all I could do was try to rank up. While this isn't exactly how I'd like to spend my summer vacation I have to if I want to kill that Chimera.
