Kidnaping-Chapter 41

I placed the last document to the side of my table hurriedly before standing.

The sun was already setting, it was already late.

'Is she still waiting for me?' I thought.

"Bo."

He opened the door to my study, entering.

"Yes sir?"

"Has the carriage been made ready? Is she ready?"

Bo quieted, as if unsure.

"But that's…"

I glanced at him suspiciously.

"What?"

Bo looked up at me and scratched his head softly before bowing.

"Sir, Miss Adedora has already left for the festival, I just saw her-"

"What?" I clenched my fists and left the room hurriedly. Bo quickly chased after me.

"S-Sir!"

Those that saw me pass quickly bowed or moved out of the way. I saw Eva's handmaid look up at me with a glint of confusion in her eyes before bowing.

"Yo-Your Highness-"

"Where is she?"

The handmaid looked up at me with furrowed brows and shook her head.

"Miss, Miss Eva has already left. But- that is only because we received a letter from you." She quickly explained. My expression darkened.

"A letter?"

She nodded. Quickly rushing into the room, she came back out with a note in her hand, her lips pursed as she handed it to me.

My face scanned the note briefly before I clenched my jaw. I handed the note to Bo.

"Who wrote this?"

Eva's handmaid shook her head quickly and bowed.

"Y-Your Highness. My lady assumed it was you so-"

"Bo, get my horse. Find someone to protect the handmaid while I am gone."

"Yes sir." Bo quickly took off. Before I could turn around, Eva's handmaid stopped me.

"W-wait!" She moved in front of me, a worried expression on her face.

"Protect? What's going on? Where is my Lady??"

I looked at her, remaining silent.

"I must go. Stay in the room and don't come out."

"But-"

Before she could argue I quickly walked away, My feet leading to the main entrance where Bo was. He bowed.

"Sir," He greeted, handing me the reins. As I mounted the horse, I glanced at Bo.

"Have the 8th Prince search for her near the outskirts of town."

He glanced at me with shock but remained silent.

"Yes sir."

Before I left, I looked down at Bo, my hands gripping the reins harshly.

"And find out where the hell that note came from."

the cold air from around me caused me to stir awake, my eyes opening lazily.

Whatever room I was in, I could barely feel my arms, and my head was throbbing like-

"!"

I quickly looked around to a horrifying realization.

I was kidnapped.

My hands were hanging above my head in thick iron handcuffs, a chain connected to the roof that held them up, and my feet barely touching the floor.

A shiver ran down my spine when I recalled the letter that so perfectly replicated the Prince's handwriting.

'W-What? Why would-" I sputtered, my words fading as I quickly lost all composure. Tears were streaming down my face.

I looked around once more, searching for something that could help me escape.

'C'mon C'mon!' I thought to myself. I felt sick already, my gut was turning and my heart felt like it would beat out of my chest. I closed my eyes and let out a shaky breath, trying to calm myself.

A voice spoke up.

"The infamous Black Jade…" it said. My body shuddered as every nerve in my body was telling me to get out of whatever room I was in. I scanned the room frantically.

'Who is that?? Are they gonna kill me?' I thought to myself. I wanted to speak but my mouth wouldn't move. I was too scared. Finally, the figure came out of the shadows, a bulky man with a cynical expression. I quickly averted his gaze. My stomach turned once more as he came closer to me.

"You truly are…" He placed something cold on my jaw, forcing me to face him. "A beauty."

My eyes widened as I slowly glanced down at the object on my jaw. A knife. My lips quivered.

"Shhhh...don't cry…" The man smiled as he spoke. "I won't hurt me if you tell me what I need to know…"

I slowly nodded, feeling the knife move away from my face, I gulped harshly.

"What… What is it?"

The man's eyes glimmered. He slowly put the knife away.

"I'm honored…" He said, licking his lips. "I see the Queen has taken an interest in you…"

My eyes widened.

"It's you… you're the one who poisoned the-"

'Miss Black Jade." He cut off. "It isn't good to accuse people like that."

"Who are you working with?? Who told you to do this!?"

"Miss Black Jade." He looked up at me with a dissatisfied expression. I gulped but held my lip, remaining quiet.

"How did you get it? Are you truly a reincarnation?"

A shiver ran up my spine. I stayed quiet, pushing my luck. The man scoffed, moving closer to me.

"I asked you," He harshly jerked my face to look at him, his cold fingers pressing into my cheeks. "A question."

"..." All that I gave him was a half-mustered glare.

The cold knife was placed against my chin once more. I inhaled sharply.

"Still refuse?"

"...." I could only pray he wouldn't kill me. I closed my eyes, prepared for the sharp blade to dig into my neck.

Suddenly, there was a loud banging noise, causing me to flinch away.

Upon opening my eyes I saw the fearful expression on the man. I glanced at the door hopefully. Whoever it was, the man wasn't expecting their arrival.

"Sh*t!" He cursed. He quickly unhooks my cuffs from the chain dangling above me, I fell to the ground with a groan. My arms were throbbing from being held above my head for so long.

"Get up!" The man quickly ordered. He dragged me up by my arm harshly, attempting to run out of the room, still holding me.

Taking the chance, I resisted.

I threw myself onto the floor and squirmed away from him.

"Help! I'm right-"

The words were knocked out of my lungs as the man kicked me.

Before I could catch my breath he was pinned on top of me, the knife in his hands flying to my throat.

"You leave me with no choice….Die!"

I shut my eyes tightly, turning my head to the side as the knife was headed toward my chest.

"No!"

There was a glowing light that caused me to close my eyes tighter, A loud scream, and then silence.

I quickly stood up, scampering back to the wall and looking down in horror. I felt queasy- staring at the unconscious man in front of me with half of his arm missing.

A gag escaped my lips as I turned away from the grotesque sight, only to look down and find more blood on the bottom of my dress.

The door busted open.

I covered my mouth and was falling to the floor when I was caught by someone, my legs were weak, and y tears were preventing me from seeing clearly.

"I've got you." The voice said. Maybe I was just hallucinating, but it sounded so much like the 4th Prince. My body relaxed as his strong arms supported me. My tears streaming down my face.

"P-Prince…" I choked out. I buried my head in his arms, hiding from the horrific scene on the floor. I felt my head being caressed softly.

Suddenly, a throbbing sensation made its way to my head. I groaned at the unexpected headache. My vision which was already blurred went black, purple dots filling my line of sight. I looked up at the person holding me. The 4th Prince.

"Prince…."

"I'm here."

My eyes shut as my body went limp, and I passed out.
