Now, she can see why Skotos wants her alive. She is his ticket to being whole again, but she has no idea how to do that. And if everything that she read in that book is true, then he might be searching for revenge.

/"Nerida/", she whispers that name and she swears the water of the river rippled. She looks at it, she feels it pull on her. ‘Is this normal?’, she wonders. This urge to jump inside is eating her from the inside out.

/"What did you say?/", but Skoto’s words draw her back to reality.

/"Nothing/", she denies saying anything.

/"I heard you. Did you say Nerida?/", he says to her and she feels cold sweat all over her body.

Arianna is afraid to say anything, afraid he will get mad at her and things will go sideways. She looks deep into his dark eyes, trying to understand him.

/"Funny, you remind me of her/", he says and it feels like an energy wave hit her directly.
