Chapter Thirty-Four:
Seraphina's POV
I slowly descended the hill, keeping my head lowered. This was embarrassing, but the most humiliating part was yet to come—when he'd ask me what I was doing. He was a butler from the Lennon family, possibly assigned to watch me, and he had seen me leave.
I struggled to get past the group of girls surrounding him. As I walked by, one of them rolled her eyes at me. Strange. Someone seemed to be jealous of me. I glanced back at the butler, whose expression was filled with disappointment, but not confusion. Oh, I understood now why the girls were jealous—he was a real looker. But I didn't have time to think about that, not with guilt weighing me down after losing track of Ed.
"I was only trying to follow Ed when I didn't see him," I explained.
"Where?" His voice was smooth and commanding. Even his voice sounded handsome. I pinched myself. Seraphina, focus! You're in the middle of a crisis, not a romance novel.
