Chapter eight: I am going to kill her!

Sally was aware of how ornery her mistress can be but surely she could behave at least once for her wedding. Wearing anything aside from the traditional red dress will be asking for trouble. Her body shook with a terrifying shudder at the reaction of the Madame should her daughter wear anything else, leaving goosebumps all over her body. This morning encounter with the Madame was enough to make her wish not to have such ever again.

" E...Eh Mistress... " Sally tried to politely protest with a questioning look in her eyes, hoping that her mistress was merely joking but all hope died inside of her when she saw the look in her mistress's eyes.

It was glowing with the light of mischief and daredevil. Once her mistress gets such a look in her eyes then she is up to no good.

Sally groaned, dropping her head dramatically to her chest before looking up at her mistress. Her eyes saying you are going to get us killed.

Onyx laughed at the scared worried look in her servant's eyes when she told her she wasn't wearing the dress she took out.

" Don't look so worried I am not going to wear anything outrageous, " she told them with a playful wink.

Sally and Mei looked at each other wondering whether to believe their mistress. They shrugged their slender shoulders, releasing a heavy breath that made their mistress laugh again.

They watched with a hopeful look as their mistress made her way toward the large wooden box containing her clothes. Most of them have been neatly packed to be moved to the palace after the wedding.

Onyx opened the box and stared at the clothes inside. There were different shades of clothes displayed on the front but none had the color she was looking for. She needed something strong enough to shock her parents. Payback for forcing this marriage on her.

Her eyes glowed with a dark glint as she moved on to another box looking for something that would piss her mother off. She was already getting excited imagining the look on her mother's face when she sees her in the dress she has chosen.

By now her search have left four of the boxes open and rejected, none having what she was looking for and her servants were beginning to look worried.

" What dress pray My Lady are you looking for so we may help you find it, " Mei requested with a hopeful look in her mistress's direction.

Onyx ignored her words and continued with her search. The last box she opened made a sick satisfied smirk appear on her face. Her dark brown eyes grew darker with a wicked look as she reached out to take out the dress that caught her attention.

A long rich black dress with birds and flowers design.

" Magnificent! " Onyx praised, running her eyes happily over the dress. This will do just fine. It matches her mood about the wedding just fine.

Sally and Mei's eyes widened at the dress their mistress was holding. They turned to look at each other before facing their mistress with a look of horror. Surely she isn't planning on wearing that to her wedding.

" My Lady! " Sally dared to call out but before the next words could follow she was staring into the happy mischievous eyes of her mistress.

" This will do just fine, " Onyx handed her servant the dress she had in her hand.

Sally opened her mouth to protest but the words were not allowed to spring forth because her lips were held close by her mistress long finger.

" Shush! do as I say, " Onyx said in a serious stern tone that allowed no further argument for her servants.

Sally's shoulders slumped in defeat. She looked at Mei for help but the other servant just shrugged her shoulders in response telling her she has got nothing. With a resigned nod, Sally went to get the dress ready with the other accessories that would match the dress.

Sally in her life has never seen anyone get married in a black dress, trusts her mistress to be the first to do it. The woman was going to be the queen of a daredevil. She didn't know why she feared for her mistress going into the palace. The people in the palace are the ones to be wry of her young mistress's entrance.

" Why black, My Lady? " Mei asked curiously as she began to make her mistress's hair.

" Because that is how I feel about this wedding, " Onyx answered her servant. Her reflection gazing back at her bore a look of sadness and anger that she didn't allow to linger before she blinked them away leaving only an empty look. She had long since made her peace with the wedding after her father came home one evening after meeting with the king to tell them the news. That was four weeks ago. Her mother had been over the moon while she felt as if her moon had just fallen from the sky.

All her protests to the marriage fell on deaf ears. The only response she got from her parents was to think about the family and what her marriage will bring to the family. No one asked how she felt, or about her happiness, or about her wishes. Growing up Onyx has always wished to marry for love but that dream has been squashed by this wedding.

She didn't believe the crap her mother kept telling her about falling in love with the king later because that would never happen. She blinked back the tears that filled her eyes.

No, she wasn't going to cry.

Not for this.

Tears are for the weak.

Her mistress's answer made Mei's heart go out to her mistress. She couldn't understand what her mistress was feeling but if she was in her shoe, she wouldn't be happy marrying a man as old as her father. A man was known to be ruthless and heartless all over the kingdom.

She continued her work in silence knowing that no words she could say will help with her mistress's pain.

Onyx pulled her mind from the unpleasant reminder of her wedding and watched as her servant worked her magic with her hair. Her hair too her was unnecessarily long and she has so many times longed to cut it to her shoulders but her mother wouldn't hear of it.

After Mei was done with the hair she stepped back and watched with pride as her mistress admired her handwork.

Her mistress was very beautiful, one of the most beautiful women she has ever seen. With a well-proportioned heart face, piercing dark brown eyes, almost black when she is angry. High cheekbones cute pink lips and a well-carved sharp jaw. She was a work in perfection.

Her reflection in the mirror didn't bring Onyx any joy. She was aware of her beauty. Something she believed she was cursed with because without it the King wouldn't have been interested in marrying her.

" Thanks, " she told her servant in a dull tone and stood up to wear her dress.

After dressing their mistress, Mei and Sally took several steps back to admire their handwork. Their mistress was looking gorgeous not that any of it could be seen on her face as she was wearing a dark cloud. She looked like a lamb being laid to slaughter.

" You are ready My lady, " Sally said with a thin smile, knowing that no matter how much they want to deny it, this was not a joyous occasion for their mistress.

A dark look appeared in Onyx's eyes as she headed towards the door with her servants on her heels. The only thing she was looking forward to was the look on her mother's face when she sees her.

Sally hurried ahead to open the door for her mistress and then bowed her head as she passed.

Outside the door, the other female servants knelt beside the door waiting and when their mistress finally made an appearance they all gasped in shock at her appearance. A terrified look appeared on their faces because they all knew how dead they are when the Madame sees her daughter.

The servant that had earlier protested when their mistress sent them out looked like she was going to pass out any minute. The Madame who had specifically asked her to make sure that her daughter doesn't embarrass them was going to boil her alive. She wondered if the gods she offended had placed her between the devil and the red sea. The Madame and her daughter were so much alike in that they were both stubborn women. She couldn't tell the young mistress what to do and she can't say no when the Madame gives an order.

Onyx ignored the horrified looks on the servant's faces and made her way towards the door majestically. The sound of music and gongs could be heard outside their house. The wedding train has arrived.

Onyx began to smirk behind her veil as they drew close to the door. She could hear her mother talking bragging to the concubines about how she was going to be the queen's mother very soon.

The first to see her was the crowd waiting outside. A shocked gasp spread through the crowd like a wave causing the mother who was currently speaking to the second concubine to pause mid-word.

The Madame's face wrinkled in confusion at the murmurings in the crowd. She wondered at the cause and turned in slow motion to look behind her.

Her daughter was walking elegantly towards her all dressed in black.

" Unbelievable! She didn't! "

A deep growl rumbled through her chest as her hands tightened into a fist beside her. The sound of the other women chuckling further worsened her fury.

" How dare her daughter embarrass her this way! She was going to kill her. " She continued to glare daggers at her daughter until she was close.

A dark smirk stretched across Onyx's lips when she saw the dark look on her mother's face. She looked ready to murder someone. That, someone, was probably her.

" Mother, " she greeted through pursed lips in a mocking tone as she passed. She swallowed the laughter that bubbled up when her mother hissed at her.

The Madame's anger was so great that all she could see was red. She couldn't stand her daughter's latest stunt. Her evil eyes fell on the servant that she had tasked with making sure that this didn't happen. As soon as the woman got to where she was she reached out to drag her out of the line by her ear.

SLAP!!!

" Ah!!!! "

Again.

SLAP!!!!

" Ah!!! "

The Madame was so angry that she wasn't satisfied with slapping the servant twice. She resorted to kicking her. Her savage action drew the attention of the crowd and they began to murmur among themselves.

The sound of the Slap reached Onyx as she was about to step into the carriage. She paused for a second and felt a little bit of remorse for the servant which cleared off as soon as it came. She climbed the stairs of the carriage and took her seat, feeling a little unconcerned. Her mother might accuse her of embarrassing the family but she is the one that embarrasses them more with her actions. Her father was nowhere to be seen, probably waiting at the palace.

The Madame realized that her action was pulling attention and not a good one, she stopped and then smiled thinly at the crowd before heading towards her carriage with her head held high.

The gathered crowd all shook their heads before the carriages were lifted and they started towards the palace with their gongs and loud songs.
