Chapter Nineteen

"John!", Mina exclaimed in surprise and smiled sweetly as she caught her boyfriend watching her from close to the shop's entrance. He smiled back at her, but remained where he was. She cocked her head and regarded him curiously.

"What's wrong?", she asked. "You have something to confess?"

"Oh no no. I was just uh... worried I'm interrupting."

"Oh come in. I'm feeling bored. Nobody will buy drinks. They say I need rest."

John thought she still looked weak, but certainly stronger than when he last saw her. She laid her head on his shoulder as he sat down beside her.

"I'm sure you do need the rest though."

"Oh stop that. You're supposed to support me... always. I need work, John. I think if I'm not busy and I don't want to think."
