Part of him wondered if Kenna wound end up thinking of him like that, somewhere down the line. Despite all the work he’d put into caring for her and protecting her, he still didn’t feel like a dad, even if it somehow became the title she chose for him. And part of the reason for that was staring him right in the face. He may have been looking after Kenna and taking her to fun places, but he wasn’t providing for her financially. He’d just been leeching off of his ex’s credit card.
And now he had almost no money to his name. Maybe a few bucks for gas, but that was it. A single parent was supposed to support their child in every way. They were supposed to hold down real jobs. That’s how food got on the table, bills were paid, and shelter was assured.
